At The DOCK TYING UP There are four dock lines supplied for this purpose. Three are 25 and a forth is 15. The shorter line works best on the stern cleat. The midship cleat is normally used to keep the boat from moving for and aft by using two lines from this location. The bow and stern cleats will keep the boats proximity to the dock at the desired distance and angle. At least four fenders should be used in side-tie situations. The boat should not be tied so tight that it is held firmly against the fenders. This will cause chaffing as the boat is in constant contact with the fenders as it moves. When getting underway, the fenders should be rinsed lightly with fresh water from the transom shower. After they have dried they can be stowed in the lazarette at the base and aft of the access ladder. A boat hook is stored in this same location and can be keep on deck at times when one will likely be needed. 2.1

At The DOCK FRESH WATER When fresh water is available at the dock, DEVOCEAN s fresh water tanks should be topped off. A hose located in the transom locker has been supplied for this purpose. DEVOCEAN SHOULD NEVER BE COUPLED DIRECTLEY TO THE MUNICIPLE WATER SYSTEM AND OPPERATED ON MUNICIPLE WATER PREASURE. Instead, fill the tanks and allow the system pump to pressure the fresh water system. When filling the tanks. use the hose to fill the tanks by adding water through the deck fitting located amidships on the port side. A female hose connection located below the fresh water deck cap is for filling the auxiliary water tanks and should not be used. These auxiliary tanks are strictly for extended cruises where fresh water may not be available. If this is anticipated, contact AYC for instructions on how to use the extra water tanks. The primary system tanks hold 70 gallons and should be enough for normal cruising of about a week. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THE FREAH WATER DECK CAP IS NOT TEATHERED TO THE FITTING AND WILL BE LOOSE WHEN UNSCREWED. 2.2

At The DOCK FUEL DOCK Fuel dock locations are: CAP SANTE BOAT HAVEN ANACORTES MARINA FRIDAY HARBOR Of course, this is a diesel engine and generator. Nothing should be put in the fuel tank except NEW, CLEAN, HIGH QULITY #2 DIESEL FUEL! Fueling can be accomplished from either the port or starboard sides. Use the deck cap on either side located at mid ship. Both of these caps serve the same tank. Having two caps is for convenience. Note: When filling from one side, loosening the cap on the other side will aid in venting the tank and prevent the fuel from foaming over on the side you are using. A sight gage mounted on the forward bulkhead in the engine compartment can be viewed from the base of the access ladder and will show when tanks are full. Listening near the fill cap is also helpful. Don t get bummed about the cost of fuel. A trawler like this one with its single Cummins diesel, gets two to three times the fuel economy of a comparable motoryacht. 2.3

At The DOCK PUMP OUT Upon returning from a cruise or an outing in the islands, the holding tank will need to be emptied. Overboard discharge of waste water is possible and DEVOCEAN is equipped with a mascerator. However, overboard discharge is illegal except when offshore and it is unlikely you will be in that situation. Pumping out the holding tanks at an approved pump-out station is accomplished thru the deck cap marked waste located amidships on the starboard side. Pump-out stations are located at Cap Sante Boat Haven and the fuel dock at Anacortes Marina. It s a simple process, but a pair of gloves may make you feel more comfortable. A gauge located on the side of the vanity cabinet near the paper holder will indicate the holding tank level and its need to be pumped out during your cruise. Remove the deck cap. NOTE: THIS CAP IS NOT TETHERED TO THE FITTING AND WILL BE LOOSE. Follow the instructions on the pump at the station you are using. After emptying the tank, it is always a good idea to run a fair amount of fresh water to the tank thru the deck cap and pump it out a second time. This flushes out the tank. Put the cap back on and you re good to go! NEVER INTRODUCE RAW (SALT) WATER INTO THE WASTE TANK OR HEAD SYSTEM. The advantage of the Vacu-Flush head is that it is a fresh water system. Much of the odor in other types of marine heads can be attributed to their use of raw sea water in the head and holding tank. If you should encounter a pump station that uses a cam type fire hose coupler, rather than a tapered rubber tip, an adapter is stored in the transom locker for this purpose. 2.4

At The DOCK SHORE POWER Shore power is simply AC power available at most marinas for use by vessels which are moored there. Normally this is 110 volt power but is supplied in a variety of outlet configurations according to the amperage supplied at that particular hook-up. 30 amp is the most common and DEVOCEAN is supplied with a single 30 amp connection cord that is 50 ft in length. A household style 15 amp adapter is also supplied and can be found in the tool box at the base of the engine room hatch ladder. Also in this tool box are adapters for 15 and 20 amp power outlets found at some marinas. When not in use, the yellow shore power cord is stored in the transom locker adjacent to the shore power inlet receptacle. When connecting to shore power, it is an important safety consideration to connect the boat end first and then connect the shore end last. When a proper connection has been made and the shore service breaker has been turned on, check the meter on the right side of the AC distribution panel. The meter should read 110 to 120 volts. If no voltage is indicated by the meter, check the LINE 1 breaker near the inlet receptacle on the port side of the transom. The power cord should be connected to LINE 1 When the proper voltage is indicated, the left amber light beneath the shore power 1 breaker on the panel should be lit. This light is showing that power is available to the incoming side of that breaker. Now turn on the shore power 1 breaker (item1- figure 5.50) and power will be fed to the left bank of the panel. To energize the right bank of the panel, turn on the transfer breaker (item 4- figure 5.50). Now the 30 amps of shore power is being shared by both banks on the panel. Refer to the panel diagram found at 5.50 When disconnecting from shore power, first turn off these two breakers (items 1&4 figure 5.50). NOTE BREAKER 19 (INVERTER) SHOULD REMAIN ON AT ALL TIMES. BREAKER 18 (BATT CHARGER) SHOULD ONLY BE TURNED OFF WHEN STARTING AND RUNNING EITHER THE MAIN ENGINE OR THE GENERATOR. This will prevent the start batteries from being charged by the engine alternator and the battery charger at the same time. 2.5

UNDER WAY PREPARING TO LEAVE CHECK LISTS ELECTRICAL Shut off shore power 1 breaker (refer to item 1 figure 5.50 elec dist panels ). Remove Shore power cord unhook dock end first. Refer to 2.50 shore power cord. The cord can be stored in the transom locker. After removing cord, secure Velcro holders to railing so they will be right where you need them when you are ready to hook back up. ENGINE Battery switch, located under steps at engine room access hatch, should be in the ALL position. While moored without shorepower, this battery switch can be turned to the #1 (house) position. However this is not necessary as DEVOCEAN is equipped with isolators to protect the start batteries from being drained by the house loads. On DC panel, Turn on breakers: DC main, Bridge main and Engine #1 (items 4, 5 & 19 figure 5.50). Engine control lever should be in the vertical (neutral) position. It is helpful at this point to turn the ACC switch at both helm stations to the on position so as not to forget before getting underway. Turn on the Raymarine navigation system. See electronic navigation 3.3 Has the engine oil level been checked? Is the engine fuel ball valve in the open position? 3.12

UNDER WAY STARTING ENGINE Make sure you have set breakers and switches in accordance with the previous heading: preparing to leave. The ignition off on start toggle (item 1 figure 3.20) needs to be in the on position. If this is so, the engine start alarm will sound. Now press and release the black button (item 2 figure 3.20) on the lower face of the controller. The start alarm will cease, and the red light (item 3 figure 3.20) on top of the controller will come on. If this light is not illuminated the engine will not start. To start engine, hold the ignition switch in the start position until the engine starts. Then release the start switch and allow the switch to return to the on position. To increase RPMs without engaging the prop, first depress and hold the black button (item 2 figure 3.20). The red light (item 3 figure 3.20) at the top of the controller will light, if it is not already lit. While holding the button in, move the control lever 4 forward a small amount to the first detent. Now let out on the button and if you are in neutral, the red light will begin to flash. To throttle up the engine, continue moving the lever forward by small amounts. RPMs should be limited to THRUSTER ON DOCKLINES It should be noted that the thruster control is on automatic shut off. It is good to make sure the thruster control is on when you need it! So, turn it on before you put the prop in gear. However, remember that if not used for several minutes while maneuvering in the marina, the control will shut itself off and you may need to turn it on again. Both on buttons have to be held down simultaneously to accomplish this. After the dock lines have been removed they may be hung on the hooks outside the aft cabin door. Salt water is nasty stuff when it dries. Care should be taken not to give the dock lines a dunking before they come aboard. Fenders can be hung from the same hooks as the dock lines or rinse them with fresh water, and when they are dry, they can be stored in the lazzarette aft of the engine room access. REMEMBER JUST BECAUSE YOU PUT THE BOAT IN GEAR, DOES NOT MEAN YOU HAVE TO LEAVE IT IN GEAR. NEUTRAL IS YOUR FRIEND IF THE WIND IS NOT BLOWING. SLOW IS GOOD IN THE MARINA AND SHIFTING IN AND OUT OF GEAR IS HOW TO GO SLOWER. 3.21

UNDER WAY ELECTRINICS - NAVIGATION BREAKER SETTINGS DC main ON Bridge main ON Accessory switch (item 5 figure 3.13)needs to be ON at BOTH helms. This will energize the Raymarine C 120 display, radar,st 60 depth gages and the Auto pilot. TURNING ON THE C 120 DISPLAY AT UPPER HELM After removing the cover, press the red start button. The screen will come on. After reading the warning, answer OK to clear the message. It may take several minutes for the unit to adjust from FIND CURSOR to FIND SHIP. TURNING ON THE RADAR With the screen on and the chartplotter (gps) displaying, press the red start button again to power up the scanner. It may take several minutes for the scanner, which you have just turned ON, to warm up. Once it has warmed up, the transmit TX option will be available. Press the key to change the radar status from standby to transmit ( TX ). It is not necessary to have the radar on and in transmit status if it is not needed. The chartplotter will still function properly without the radar on. HELP WITH OPERATING THIS SYSTEM If you are not familiar with RAYMARINE and how to operate there C series navigation system, refer to the RAYMARINE instruction manual in this operating guild. 3.3

UNDER WAY DEPTH INSTUMENT RAYMARINE ST 60 + DEVOCEAN is equipped with this large format display at both upper and lower helm stations This is one of your most CRITICAL pieces of information. We want you to be safe and free of hang ups on your cruise. Running aground is also one of the most disastrous and costly types of damage to a cruising vessel. INSTRUCTIONS HAVE BEEN INSERTED 3.4

UNDER WAY THRUSTER ENERGIZING THE CONTROL OPERATION To turn the thruster control on so that it is ready for use, simultaneously press both on buttons. The light will come on. This is a simple top hat control. Pressing left or right on the lever will activate the thruster impeller propelling the bow in that direction. NOTE: THE THRUSTER IS A DC MOTOR THAT RUNS DIRECTLEY FROM THE BATTERY. ONLY SHORT BURSTS SHOULD BE USED. DO NOT ACTIVATE THE THRUSTER FOR LONGER THAN 5 SECONDS AT ONE TIME. DO NOT ACTIVATE THE THRUSTER UNNECESSARILY AS PROLONGED USE WILL BURN OUT THE MOTOR AND DRAIN THE BATTERY. 3.5

UNDER WAY CONTROLS NOTE: DEVOCEAN IS EQUIPTED WITH MICROCOMMANDER CONTROLS. IF YOU HAVE NEVER USED THESE CONTROLS BEFORE IT WOULD BE GOOD TO FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH THEM BEFORE HEADING OUT. THEY ARE VERY SENSATIVE AND ARE MORE ELECTRONIC THAN MACHANICAL. OPERATION Make sure you have set breakers and switches in accordance with SECTION 3.1 preparing to leave. RPMs should be limited to

UNDER WAY CHANGING HELMS NOTE: WHENEVER CHANGING FROM ONE HELM STATION TO THE OTHER, IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO ACTIVATE THE CONTROL AT THE STATION YOU ARE CHANGING TO. THIS IS DONE BY PRESSING THE BLACK BUTTON ON THE FRONT OF THE CONTROL. WHEN YOU DO THIS THE RED LIGHT WILL COME ON INDICATING YOU HAVE POWER AT THAT STATION. PRESSING THE BLACK BUTTON AT ONE STATION WILL TAKE THE CONTROL AWAY FROM THE OTHER STATION. IT WILL ALSO REDUCE THE ENGINE SPEED TO IDLE AT THE NEW STATION, SO IT IS BEST TO BRING THE THROTTLE BACK TO IDLE AT THE FIRST STATION BEFORE LEAVING. 3.7

On The HOOK SHUTTING DOWN THE ENGINE BEFORE TURNING OFF THE ENGINE IGNITION OFF It is best to switch the active control to the helm station that will most likely be used when restarting. This is usually the lower helm. Make sure that the boat has been secured and you are satisfied it will not go adrift without power. Allow the engine to run a minute or two at idle to cool down, especially if just having completed a good run. Simply switch the OFF, ON, START to the off position Turn off the c 120 navigation display. This is done by holding down on the red power button. As you hold it down you will see a shut down window displayed and it will count down several seconds before the power goes off. Continue holding the button down until this countdown is complete. Turn off the accessory switches at both helms. Turn off the Engine #1 breaker on the DC distribution panel. Switch the battery switch to HOUSE #1 Turn off the Bridge Main breaker unless using the Artic Kool ref/freezer which requires the Bridge Main breaker be ON. 4.2

On The HOOK ELECTRONICS - ENTERTAINMENT JVC SONY INSTRUCTIONS INSERTED 4.3

On The HOOK BATTERY SWITCH & INVERTER BATTERY SWITCH The main battery switch is located under the engine room steps. Located above it is a smaller battery switch. The smaller switch is for the generator start battery and is only turned on when starting and running the generator. The main switch is only turned off when working on the electrical system or its components. NEVER turn this switch to the OFF position with the engine running as damage will occur to the engine alternator. The normal position, when moored on anchor or at the marina, for the main switch is the HOUSE #1 position. The switch should be turned to ALL or ENG #2 when starting the main engine. It may be necessary to use the ENG #2 setting if power to the house battery has been drawn down too far and the battery is too weak to start the engine. After starting the engine the switch should be kept in the ALL position while cruising so that both batteries are being charged by the engine alternator. DO NOT cross the OFF position when changing the switch with the engine running. After shutting down the engine, turn the switch back to the HOUSE #1 position while moored. The generator start battery is separated from the engine and house batteries. This protects the gen start battery from being drawn down and the generator can always be started in an emergency to charge up the other batteries. See the GENERATOR section, 4.5 for other information on power management and using the generator and batteries efficiently. INVERTER as BATTERY CHARGER The inverter has two functions. First, it can provide a limited amount of AC power when the other two sources (shore power & generator) are not available. Second, it maintains (charges) the house battery. Because it is constantly maintaining and monitoring the house battery, the inverter breaker, #19 (see figure 5.50), should be left in the ON position at all times. When this breaker on the AC panel is on, the maintenance and charging functions of the inverter will automatically activate. It is not necessary to turn the charger on at the touch pad unless it has been turned off at the touch pad. If the inverter breaker has been shut off and is turned back on, its response will be interrupted for a few seconds while it does a self test and diagnostics. Then it will come back on and the breaker light will illuminate. The LEDs on the charger section of the touch 4.4

pad will indicate the action of the charger and the battery status will show the house battery voltage. The inverter will only be charging the batteries if it has a source of AC power to draw from, such as shore power or the generator (if it is running). By leaving the inverter breaker ON, the inverter is able to detect that source when it is present on the AC panel. It should be noted that in order for any AC power source to be present on the right hand side of the AC panel, the panels transfer breaker must also be in the ON position. The only other way for power to be supplied to the right side of the panel is thru the shore power 2 connection which is almost never available. INVERTER as AC POWER SOURCE THE INVERTER FUNCTION SHOULD NOT BE USED TO SUPPLY AC POWER TO THE AC PANEL AT THE SAME TIME THE GENERATOR IS BEING USED FOR THIS SAME PURPOSE. IN SHORT, DO NOT USE THE INVERTER FUNCTION WHILE THE GENERATOR IS RUNNING. HOWEVER, THE INVERTERS CHARGER FUNCTION CAN AND SHOULD BE USED. The need for AC power, while either underway or moored off shore, may be met with the use of the inverter function. The SHORE POWER 1 main breaker and the GENERATOR breaker should both be in the OFF position, as they would be in either of these situations while not using the generator. To activate the inverter function, press the ON button in the inverter section of the touch pad. The invert light will be illuminated and AC power will be supplied to the following circuits: These are marked INV on the AC panel. 1. MICROWAVE 2. OUTLETS #2 head and v birth 3. ACCESSORY left side of panel salon and galley outlets 4. ACCESSORY right side of panel TV The refrigerator runs on either AC or DC and does not require the use of the inverter. The inverter function should be shut off when not in use or when preparing to use the generator or shore power. 4.4

On The HOOK GENERATOR BREAKER SETTINGS SHORE POWER #1 OFF MOVE SLIDE BAR FROM COVERING THE GENERATOR BREAKER TO THE LEFT WHERE IT COVERS THE SHORE POWER 1 BREAKER DO NOT TURN ON THE GENERATOR BREAKER UNTIL THE GENERATOR IS RUNNING AND HAD A FEW MINUTES TO WARM UP. TRANSFER BREAKER ON CHECK THESE BEFORE YOU START GENERATOR IS GENERATOR SEACOCK OPEN? located at base of steps to lazzarete IS GENERATOR FUEL VALVE OPEN? located next to engine fuel valve at the center of the forward bulkhead in the engine room. See figure 1.3 GENERATOR OIL LEVEL? TURN ON GENERATOR START BATTERY SWITCH. See figure 4.53 STARTING THE GENERATOR The generator ignition switch is located at the bottom left side of the DC distribution panel. It is under the stainless steel guard bar and is labeled GEN CONTROL START/STOP. You will notice that although this is a two position spring loaded toggle, the lever may be pushed straight in. Pressing in against the spring activates the glow plug. Activate glow plug for about 20 seconds, then press the lever to the left to engage the starter. Hold the starter on until the gen is fully started. It should start easily and not require more than 5 to 10 seconds of cranking. If it does not start wait several minutes before trying it again. REPEATED LONG PERIODS OF CRANKING WILL NOT ONLY BURN UP THE STARTER, IT WILL ALSO PUMP SEAWATER INTO THE ENGINE. After starting, check the aft port side thru hull to see that water is being cycled by the generator. After a few minutes to warm up, power may be supplied to the panel. At the DC panel, turn on the generator main breaker( #3 figure 5.50 ) 4.5

With the transfer breaker ON both sides of the panel have been energized with 5kw of AC power. This is almost double the power available thru the shore power 1 connection. NOTE: WHEN MOORED AWAY FROM SHORE POWER, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE GENERATORS POWER AND PLAN YOUR AC NEEDS TO BE SERVED CONCURRENTLY. FOR INSTANCE, IF USING THE ELECTRIC RANGE FOR COOKING DINNER, YOU MAY WANT TO HEAT WATER FOR A SHOWER AND CHARGE BATTERIES AT THE SAME TIME. ANOTHER ENERGY SAVING TIP IS TO PLAN THE USE OF HOT WATER SHORTLY AFTER THE END OF A CRUISE, AS THE ENGINE IS ALSO HEATING THE HOT DOMESTIC WATER. 4.5

On The HOOK DINGHY AND DAVIT The Winch Power to the winch is always on. This is a safety feature. To operate the winch. Twist the black cap at the end of the motor assembly in the direction you want the spool to wind. 1 Launching the Dinghy Remove the holding cable 2 that is attached to the cleat at the top center of the transom. This is done by standing inside the cockpit and reaching over the transom. With one hand, grip the top bar of the davit 3. While bracing against the transom with your knees, pull back on the davit with one hand while removing the cable with the other. Or, have someone remove the cable while you pull back with both hands. Put the drain plug in the outside of the dinghies transom. Now the winch switch can be rotated counterclockwise which will lower the dinghy. When the starboard side of the dinghy contacts the water, the red strap 4 that prevents the dinghy from swinging can be removed and left in the cockpit. Continue lowering the dinghy until the hanging cables are slack. The hanging cables are most easily removed by unclipping them from inside the dinghy as you leave the main vessel. *IMPORTANT WHEN WINDING THE CABLE BACK ON THE WINCH SPOOL, DO NOT WIND PAST THE RED MARKING TAPE! -5- The final tilting motion of the davit must be performed by hand while reattaching the holding cable to the cleat. Notice that one holding cable loop is slightly longer than the other. The shorter loop should go on the cleat first. Be certain to remove the drain plug from the dinghy. Hundreds of pounds of rain water can collect in the boat. The dinghy must be retrieved with the bow towards the Mainship s starboard side, to insure water will drain from the dinghy properly. 4.61

SYSTEMS ENGINE MODEL OIL Cummins 6B 330 hp SHELL ROTELLA T 15W40 STARTING THE ENGINE UNDERWAY Make sure you have set breakers and switches as follows: 1. BATTERY SWITCH SET TO ALL OR ENG 2 2. AC SHORE POWER 1 MAIN BREAKER OFF 3. AC TRANSFER BREAKER OFF 4. AC BATT CHARGER BREAKER OFF 5. DC MAIN ON 6. DC BRIDGE MAIN ON 7. DC ENG #1 ON 8. ACC SWITCH AT BOTH HELM ON 9. TROTTLE CONTROL LEVER IN VERTICAL (NEUTRAL) POSITION. The ignition off on start toggle (item 1 figure 3.20) needs to be in the on position. If this is so, the engine start alarm will sound. Now press and release the black button (item 2 figure 3.20) on the lower face of the controller. The start alarm will cease, and the light (item 3 figure 3.20) on top of the controller will come on. If this light is not illuminated the engine will not start. To start engine, hold the ignition switch in the start position until the engine starts. Then release the start switch and allow it to return to the on position. To increase RPMs without engaging the prop, first depress and hold the black button (item 2 figure 3.20). The green light (item 3 figure 3.20) at the top of the controller will light. While holding the button in, move the control lever 4 forward a small amount to the first detent. Now let out on the button and if you are in neutral, the green light will begin to flash. The transmission will remain in neutral until the lever is returned to the vertical position. While in neutral the engine may be throttled up, although this should be limited to 1400 RPMs. To stop engine, switch the ignition off on start toggle to the off position. The recommended cruising RPM is In neutral conditions (wind and current) this will yield about 9 knots and burn about 5gph. 5.1

SYSTEMS HEAD DEVOCEAN is equipped with a VACU FLUSH head. The advantage of this system is that it uses fresh water. Much of the odor in other types of head systems can be attributed to their use of raw sea water in the head and holding tank. Water can be added to the bowl by lifting up on the foot lever, but normally this is not necessary. The head is flushed by pushing down on the lever with a swift positive motion then releasing the lever and allowing it to come back up. The waste and the small amount of water in the bowl are sucked out of the bowl by vacuum. After flushing you will hear the vacuum pump recharging. After a minute or so this should stop and the head is ready for use again. *DO NOT USE ANY PAPER OTHER THAN THE PAPER THAT IS PROVIDED. THIS IS A SPECIAL PAPER DESIGNED ESPECIALLY FOR MARINE HEADS. DO NOT FLUSH ANYTHING DOWN THE TOILET THAT HAS NOT GONE THROUGH YOUR BODY FIRST. THE HOLDING TANK HAS BEEN TREATED WITH ODORLOS. THIS IS A NITRATE THAT RESULTS IN THE PRODUCTION OF NITROGEN RATHER THAN HYDROGEN SULFIDE. UNLIKE HYDROGEN SULFIDE, HITROGEN IS ODORLESS. INTRODUCING OTHER CHEMICALS OR DEODORANTS TO THE SYSTEM WILL RENDER THIS TREATMENT INAFFECTIVE. IF IT IS NECESSARY TO ADD ADDITIONAL ODORLOS TO THE SYSTEM, IT CAN BE FOUND IN PACKAGES UNDER THE SINK. SIMPLY ADD SOME WATER TO THE BOWL, POUR A PACKAGE OF CRYSTALS INTO THE BOWL AND STIR WITH THE TOILET BRUSH. WHEN THE CRYSTALS HAVE DESOLVED, FLUSH THE HEAD. YOU RE DONE. For instructions on pumping out the holding tank, see Section

AC DISTRIBUTION PANEL KEY 1) MAIN BREAKER supplies power to the left bank from shore power cord. 2) NOT USED unavailable in most situations 3) GENERATOR this breaker allows the left side of the panel to be energized by the generator. The slide bar ensures that only one source is being used. 4) TRANSFER This breaker must be on for the right side of the panel to be energized by whichever source is supplying the left side. It allows them to share the source. 12) ACCESSORY This breaker actually controls all the outlets in the salon and galley. The GFI on the aft port side of the salon protects the other outlets. 14) ACCESSORY - TV 15) OUTLETS #2 controls outlets in the head and birth 18) BATT CHARGER This is the ProMariner charger that charges the engine start battery. This charger can be energized when shore power is available, but should not be needed otherwise. 19) INVERTER energizes the XANTREX inverter. This breaker should be left on at all times. This will allow the inverter to monitor and maintain the house batteries. DC DISTRIBUTION PANEL KEY 4) DC MAIN energizes both banks of the DC panel 5) BRIDGE MAIN energizes all circuits in the bridge including the ArticKool ref/freezer. 9) BILGE LIGHTS care must be taken not to leave the lights in the bilge on. They draw a lot of power! 10) REFRIGERATOR This breaker should be left on at all times when the refrigerator is in use. If AC is available, the ref. will use it. If AC is not available, the ref. needs this DC power. 11) FRESH WATER energizes the domestic water pump that provides water pressure to the faucets. 12) GENERATOR This is the generator ignition switch. This switch is energized by the generator start battery switch. See figure ) HEAD energizes the vacuum pump for the VACU-FLUSH toilet. 17) ENTERTAINMENT controls the DVD player located above this panel. 19) ENG #1 power to the engine ignition and the engine controls.

SYSTEMS BATTERY SWITCH & INVERTER BATTERY SWITCH The main battery switch is located under the engine room steps. The LEDs on the charger section of the touch 5.61

pad will indicate the action of the charger and the battery status will show the house battery voltage. 5.61

SYSTEMS GENERATOR THIS NEXT GENERATION 5.5kw GENERATOR IS POWERED BY A KUBOTA DIESEL AND BURNS ABOUT.25 GALLONS PER HOUR. * IF RUN FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME IN HOT WEATHER, THE SOUND SHIELD SHOULD BE OPENED TO AID IN COOLING THE UNIT. BREAKER SETTINGS SHORE POWER #1 OFF MOVE SLIDE BAR FROM COVERING THE GENERATOR BREAKER TO THE LEFT WHERE IT COVERS THE SHORE POWER 1 BREAKER DO NOT TURN ON THE GENERATOR BREAKER UNTIL THE GENERATOR IS RUNNING AND HAD A FEW MINUTES TO WARM UP. 5.7

After starting, check the aft port side thru hull to see that water is being cycled by the generator. After a few minutes to warm up, power may be supplied to the panel. At the DC panel, turn on the generator main breaker( #3 figure 5.50 ) With the transfer breaker ON both sides of the panel have been energized with 5kw of AC power. ALSO, RUNNING THE GENERATOR IN THE MORNING WHILE MAKING COFFEE AND FIXING BREAKFAST IS A GOOD TIME TO CHARGE BATTERIES THAT HAVE BEEN USED DURING THE NIGHT. 5.7

SYSTEMS CABIN SOFA SLEEPER HEATING To convert the SOFA to a SLEEPER, first remove the arm rests by pulling them straight up. Now remove the three back cushions. Next, tip down the front panel at the base of the sofa. Finally, lift up and pull forward to open the bed. A small electric heater has been provided to take the chill from the cabin on cool nights and mornings. This requires the either shore power or the generator. The heater should not be run off of the inverter as this will run down the batteries in a short time. When running the heater on shore power, remember that other appliances cannot be used at the same time the heater is running due to overloading the circuit. 5.8

SYSTEMS GALLEY REFRIGERATOR This is an AC/DC frig so both breakers (AC and DC) need to be ON. The ArticKool on the bridge can be used as an auxillary frig or as a freezer, however it is DC only and will use battery power in between chargings. It runs off the BRIDGE MAIN breaker. ELECTRICAL OUTLET STOVE Toaster Is located on the bottom of the upper cabinet to the far right hand side Be sure to unplug the coffee pot when not in use This is a big power user. Use by itself when on shore power. Is stored at bottom of middle base cabinet. 5.9
