New orders / innovations in Q3 The Italian steel producer Acciaieria Arvedi S.p.A. issued the Final Acceptance Certificate to Siemens Industry Solutions for the new Arvedi ESP (Endless Strip Production) line. The technology allows the first industrial production of hot-rolled strips at a thickness of 0.8 millimeters (mm) directly from liquid steel in a continuous and uninterrupted manufacturing process. The various performance classes and voltage systems with either alternating current (AC), direct current (DC) or multi-system type enable the locomotive to be configured easily to individual requirements. With one pole operating at plus 800 kilovolts (kv) and the other at minus 800 kv, the voltage difference between the poles reaches the world record of 1600 kv DC. In December 2009, the link had also set the world record for first DC operation ever at a voltage level of 800 kv DC.
