8 About Padre Dam Municipal Water District History formed by San Diego County Board of Supervisors to import water from the Colorado River. Originally named Rio San Diego Municipal Water District Renamed Padre Dam and merged with the Santee County Water District s-Acquired Alpine Highlands Water District and Crest Public Utility District. - The District is named for the Old Mission Dam in Mission Trails Regional Park, built by Spanish missionaries circa 1807.

11 Program Valve and Hydrant Maintenance Collector App - Approximately 10,000 potable and 500 recycled system valves. - Goal to regularly operate or exercise 3000 system valves per year. - Ensures that valve locations are well known by staff and working properly in the event of an emergency to avoid unnecessary water loss. - The valve crew personnel also perform maintenance and repair on the valves; however, if deemed inoperable, will recommend replacement. - Utility crews replace around 130 corroded valves per year. - Occasionally, the CIP group may contract out an area for valve replacements.

17 Valve and Hydrant Maintenance Collector App Other features within application - Map Change Request o If a valve has not been mapped, this Collector application contains a map change request layer which allows the field worker to drop a point, make comments and enter the number of turns. o The GIS staff can view this layer in ArcMap and add the missing valve to the mapping system. o Once the data has been republished, the GIS staff deletes the map change order point.

28 Concluding Notes The District currently does not have a CMMS for Planned Predictive Maintenance. Utilizing AGOL maps and apps to collect data in the field has been a success at Padre Dam MWD. Field Operation s Crews like having the map at their fingertips. - Increased efficiencies by cutting out replication. - Ease of reporting now that data resides in one database and no longer in multiple Excel files and/or handwritten. - Padre Dam has other field applications: DigAlert (feature layer via Web Adaptor), Cathodic Protection, Construction Meters, and Infrastructure Tiled Map.
