Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) for cost-effectiveness VSDs are used to control the speed of pumps and help regulate water flow and pressure levels. Based on consumption, this can yield 30-60% in energy savings. Additionally, maintenance costs are lower as motor speed control using VSDs reduces mechanical and electrical stress that affects pump set components. Even pumps that operate at a constant flow can benefit from the soft-start and soft-stop functionality of a VSD, which applies less stress on the motor and pump.
