2 Installation Introduction im Vertrieb von CAMBOARD Electronics The Flexible Conduit Kit is a 6-foot length of electrical conduit with three 7-½ foot, 18-gauge power wires connected to a mounting plate. The kit provides a simple means to replace the Extron Cable Cubby s IEC power cord with conduit where required by local codes. Installation and service must be performed by a qualified electrician only. A UL Listed electrical distribution box is recommended for the end of the conduit opposite the Cable Cubby. See UL Requirements below. Extron Cable Cubby Screws ea. side UL Requirements The Underwriters Laboratories (UL) requirements listed below pertain to the installation of the flexible conduit kit into an Extron Cable Cubby. 1. This unit is not to be used beyond its rated voltage range. 2. This unit must be wired to a UL listed distribution box. The UL listed electrical distribution box is not included with either the Cable Cubby or the Flexible Conduit Kit; the installer is responsible for obtaining and installing the box. Figure 1 Removing the power box 3. This unit must be installed in accordance with the National Electrical Code and with all local codes. Installation Install the flexible conduit kit as follows: If the Philips head screws on the front and rear of the cubby are blocked by the table, remove the cubby from the table. Refer to the Cable Cubby manual, part # Unplug any device(s) plugged into the Cable Cubby power box. 2. Remove and retain the Philips head screws on the front and rear of the Cable Cubby that secure the power box in place and gently push the power box out through the bottom of the cubby (figure 1). 3. Remove and retain the four Philips head screws on the side of the power box and remove the side panel (figure 2). 4. Gently pull the three wire nuts out of the power box. Remove 4 Screws and Side Panel. Figure 2 Removing the side panel 5. Cut the tie wraps that bundle the three power cables. 2 3

3 Installation im Vertrieb von CAMBOARD Electronics 6. Remove the nut that secures the IEC connector ground wire to the power box case (figure 3). Remove nut and ground wire. Remove the wire nuts. 9. Place the conduit panel from the Flexible Conduit Kit on the back (bottom) side of the power box. Insert the provided Philips head screws through the conduit panel and engage the threads on the screws with the threaded holes in the power box. If the conduit panel does not fit squarely on the power box, with the holes on the conduit panel aligned with the holes on the power box, try loosening the conduit nut on the inside of the panel and changing its orientation on the panel. The best fit is accomplished when two opposing ears on the conduit nut are in a roughly straight line, parallel with the holes on the panel (figure 5). Conduit Nut Figure 3 Removing the wire nuts 7. Twist and remove the three wire nuts (figure 3). Retain the wire nuts. Separate the bundles of cables. 8. Remove the two Philips head screws on the IEC connector panel on back (bottom) side of the power box and remove the panel (figure 4). Figure 5 Conduit nut alignment Remove the IEC connector panel. 4 Installation Operation im Vertrieb von CAMBOARD Electronics 10. Tighten the screws to secure the conduit panel in place (figure 6). 11. Twist together the two or three supply (blue) wires (one from each power outlet and one from the conduit assembly) in the power box. Twist a wire nut (removed in step 7) onto the twisted wires (figure 7). Install the conduit panel. Australian, Euro, and UK versions provides a single AC power outlet. The number of power outlets determines the number of each wire color in the power box. Twist together the two or three return (brown) wires (one from each power outlet and one from the conduit assembly) in the power box. Twist a wire nut onto the twisted wires. Twist together the two or three ground (green/yellow) wires (one from each power outlet and one from the conduit assembly) in the power box. Twist a wire nut onto the twisted wires. The electrical ground is provided through the conduit connection to the electrical distribution box. Grounding in the Cable Cubby power box is not required. 12. Use tie wraps to bundle the power cables. 13. Gently tuck the power cables and wire nuts into the power box. 6 7

5 im Vertrieb von CAMBOARD Electronics 14. Place the side panel on the power box and secure it in place with the Philips head screws removed in step 3 (figure 8). Figure 8 Replacing the side panel Replace 4 screws and side panel 15. From the underside of the Cable Cubby, gently push the power box into the desired position at the desired elevation. Secure the power box into position with four Philips head screws removed in step 2 (figure 1). If you removed the Cable Cubby from the table, reinstall it. Refer to the Cable Cubby manual, part # Ensure power is removed from the UL-listed AC distribution box before connecting the power cable. Lethal voltages are present in the AC distribution box. 16. Remove power from the AC distribution box. Ensure the AC distribution box is rated for and equipped with a 20-amp circuit breaker. 17. Wire the free end of the AC power cable into the AC distribution box.
