3 Introduction to Vehicle Signage Signage Systems for Vehicles Vehicle signage is a powerful advertising tool that can promote the AAA brand and strengthen our competitive position. The design for club-owned vehicles and third-party dedicated providers promotes uniformity and safety while accommodating club preference for base colors, local ordinances and a variety of vehicle designs. Incorporating the masterbrand logo into AAA s signage systems is an integral part of the brand management system. Signs that are highly visible and consistent in design will increase awareness of the AAA brand and help establish AAA s unified presence in the marketplace. Brand Management Quality Standard #3 Vehicle Signage AAA club-owned roadside service fleet vehicles shall display the approved brand vehicle design. Brand Management Quality Standard #3 requires that club-owned vehicles display the following elements: M AAA masterbrand logo. This logo may appear stand-alone, with a club name, or with one of the service descriptors. (See page 9) M Trademark-registered red-and-white reflective conspicuity striping (or blue striping on yellow vehicles). M 800-AAA-HELP number or other nationally accessible toll-free number. These guidelines are also part of the Preferred Service Provider Standards and Criteria. Additional graphic elements or decals added to the club fleet, Preferred Service Provider, or AAA Battery Service vehicles are at the discretion of the club, provided that adequate prominence is given to the masterbrand and clear space rules are observed. 4 AAA Masterbrand Masterbrand Definition and Prohibited Use The AAA masterbrand includes all forms of identity with AAA, including the letters AAA in block form or enclosed within the oval with its orbit. This also applies to the use of the trade name AAA and its verbal uses Triple A, AAA, and Three A or Three A s. AAA partners may not use the AAA trademark as part of their business name in any directory listing or advertising. 5 Vehicle Signage Overview Custom-designed decals and special automotive paint specifications make compliance convenient and affordable. Vehicle decals are produced from quality material that promotes 24-hour visibility and have safety benefits. The film is screen-printed and custom-matched to the approved AAA blue and red colors for the red and white trucks. For ease of application and removal, the decals are also positionable and semi-permanent. All decals have a protective clear coat that helps resist fading, cracking and peeling. The AAA decal system is fairly complex especially the conspicuity striping therefore, it is recommended for ease and long-term cost effectiveness that decals be purchased from a preferred supplier. Preferred suppliers are listed on Brand Central in the Identity > Preferred Supplier section. The following sections contain illustrations depicting the approved design for a variety of club-owned vehicles, AAA Battery Service vehicles, Preferred Service Provider (PSP) vehicles and contractor vehicles. This look is exclusive to this group of service delivery vehicles. Detailed design specifications are also included to assist with decal application and truck painting. When using the AAA logo on any vehicle, all guidelines in the AAA Logo Usage Guidelines, found in the Identity section of AAA Brand Central, apply. 6 General Logo Usage Logo Usage Guidelines This page contains basic information on AAA Logo Usage Guidelines for club, PSP, and contractor vehicles. For the full set of guidelines refer to the AAA Logo Usage Guide located in the Identity section of AAA Brand Central. Logo Size For readability on vehicles, a minimum size of 3 inches has been established for the AAA masterbrand logo. This measurement refers only to the height of the oval. Roadside Assistance Logo Clear Space The most basic and important rule for the AAA masterbrand logo is that it needs to be clearly visible. M To maintain its visual integrity, the logo should never appear crowded by text or other graphics. M A clear space equal to 1/2 the height of the AAA oval should be maintained around the AAA logo, including any descriptors..5x x = height of oval.5x.5x.5x.5x Roadside Assistance The logo should never be used within a sentence. 9 Conspicuity Striping Conspicuity striping decals are required for club-owned, Preferred Service Provider, and AAA Battery Service vehicles. The distinctive striping design for the AAA vehicles is a registered trademark of AAA and must always contain a registered trademark symbol when used in print. 17 Preferred Service Provider Preferred Service Provider (PSP) Vehicle Signage PSPs should use the same signage design and required elements as the AAA clubowned fleet. However, rather than using the AAA masterbrand by itself or the club name with the masterbrand, PSPs should use the AAA logo with Roadside Assistance, Emergency Road Service, or Emergency Services, in accordance with their affiliated club. All PSPs are required to abide by the clear space rule when placing the AAA logo signage on their vehicles. 20 Contractor (Non-PSP) AAA Logo Usage Guidelines for Non-PSP Contract Facilities The AAA logo may be displayed by contract facilities provided that Roadside Assistance, Emergency Services, or Emergency Road Service appear in connection with the AAA Emblem. Contractors may not use the masterbrand by itself. The AAA logo cannot be used as part of the independent road service contractor s trade name. Logo Color: The AAA logo may be printed in two colors using Pantone 287 Blue and Pantone 485 Red as shown in the Logo Usage Guidelines. The logo may also be printed in all black or white on a solid color background with the space between the A s in the oval being same as the background color. Use the logo in accordance with the affiliated club s naming convention. The specific guidelines for logo elements, color, size and clear space surrounding the logo must be adhered to as outlined in this section and the AAA Logo Usage Guidelines. Emergency Services Emergency Road Service Roadside Assistance Contract facilities have the right to use the AAA logo, which is one of the most recognized roadside service symbols in the world. To maintain consistency and clarity for AAA members, it is important for non-psp contractors to follow certain logo specifications as required by AAA. These guidelines are to be followed for any advertising such as white- and yellow-page listings, building signs, equipment, highway signs, promotional literature, online advertising, etc. Questions should be directed to local club.
