2 B. Powertrain Data The vehicles are equipped with the manufacturer s standard emissions control equipment and comply with all applicable Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations. These vehicles comply with on-highway emissions requirements and conform to the Air Quality Standards for 50 states. 1. Daytime running lights operate automatically in daytime conditions. Automatic Headlamp System. When it is dark enough outside, the exterior lamps will come on automatically. 3 III. Inspection and Maintenance A. Pre-service Inspection Perform a pre-service inspection prior to placing a vehicle in service. Follow the visual inspection guidelines contained in VMB V-07-98, Preventative Maintenance Inspection (PMI) Program, June 1, Corrosion Protection. The application of additional rust-inhibiting materials is not required under the corrosion coverage, and none is recommended. The vehicle is designed and built to resist corrosion. B. Maintenance Cycle The service intervals for the minivans are as follows: 500 or fewer miles per accounting period (6,500 or fewer miles per year): 26 weeks ,000 miles per accounting period (6,501 13,000 miles per year): 17 weeks. 1,001 1,500 miles per accounting period (13,001 19,500 miles per year): 13 weeks. Vehicles traveling more than 20,000 miles per year should establish maintenance cycles based on Chevrolet s recommended maximum oil change interval. The guidelines contained in this bulletin supersede those contained in Handbook PO-701, Fleet Management. Oil Life Monitoring System. The GM Oil Life Monitoring System determines optimum oil change intervals based on actual engine operating conditions. Based on the Oil Life Monitor System, oil and oil filter changes have been routinely indicated only in excess of 7,000 miles. When preventive maintenance is performed, the Oil Life Monitoring System must be reset regardless of whether the notification light is on or not. C. Additional Low Maintenance Components Long-life Serpentine Belt. The long-life serpentine belt supplied on the vehicle should last the life of the vehicle. The life expectancy of the belt is 10 years or 150,000 miles of use. Stainless Steel Exhaust System. The stainless steel used in the vehicle exhaust system is far superior to conventional metals in terms of rust resistance, resulting in increased exhaust system longevity. Electric Power Management System. The vehicle has the Electric Power Management System, an advanced battery charge control system. The system monitors the battery s status of charge and adjusts the charging rate accordingly. A battery can be discharged at idle or low vehicle operating speeds if the electrical loads placed upon the battery are high. This is true for all vehicles. This is because the alternator is not spinning fast enough at idle or low speeds to produce all the power that is needed when the electrical load is high. The Electric Power Management System works transparently in the background to solve this problem in order to prevent excessive battery discharge. Overheated Engine Protection Mode. This emergency operating engine mode allows the vehicle to be driven to a safe place in an emergency situation. However, when driven in this mode, the vehicle has a significant loss of power and engine performance. Battery Run-Down Protection. The vehicle is equipped with battery run-down protection to prevent draining the battery in the event the interior lights are left on upon exiting the vehicle. Any interior lamps that are left on while the ignition is in the lock or off position will turn off after 10 minutes. July 23,

4 IV. Warranties A. Basic 3 years/36,000 miles bumper to bumper. The following warranties apply: 1. Towing Disabling accidents. Winch out sand, mud, snow, etc. 2. Wear Items Brake rotors (3 year/36, 000 miles). Brake pads (2 years/24,000 miles). Wheel alignment (7,500 miles). Wheel balance (7,500 miles). B. Drivetrain 5 years/100,000 miles. Roadside assistance. Courtesy transportation for overnight repairs. Towing for warranty repairs. C. Corrosion 6 years/100,000 miles for body and sheet metal rust through. D. Roadside Assistance 5 years/100,000 miles. Roadside assistance can be obtained by calling CHEV-USA ( ). Service is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Lock-out Service. Lock-out service is covered at no charge if the driver is unable to gain entry into the vehicle. To ensure security, the driver must present personal identification before lock-out service is provided. Fuel delivery. Fuel delivery is covered at no charge to provide the vehicle with enough fuel to get to the nearest service station. Jump start. A battery jump start is covered at no charge if the vehicle does not start due to a low battery charge condition. Emergency Tow From a Public Roadway or Highway. Emergency towing is covered at no charge to transport the vehicle to the nearest dealership for warranty service or in the event of a vehicle-disabling crash. Winch-out assistance is provided when the vehicle is mired in sand, mud, snow, etc. Flat Tire Change. Installation of a spare tire in good condition, when equipped and properly inflated, is covered at no charge. The customer is responsible for the repair or replacement of the tire if not covered by a warrantable failure. 4 July 23, 2008
