A summary of ECE R23 is outlined below. 1.) Mandatory on vehicles > 0.75 t and optional on vehicles or trailers < 0.75 t. 2.) One device is mandatory; a second is optional on vehicles less than 6 meters in length. 3.) Two devices are mandatory and two optional on vehicles exceeding 6 meters in length. 4.) The two optional lamps may be installed on the side of the vehicle. 5.) Lamp must be mounted a minimum of 250 mm to a maximum of 1,200 mm above the ground as shown in detail #1. 6.) Lamp shall be aimed in a downward direction of 45 as shown in detail #1. 7.) If lamp is mounted on the rear of the vehicle/trailer it shall point rearward. If mounted on the side of the trailer, lamp shall point to the side as shown in detail #2. 8.) Lamp shall be wired to allow operation only during engine operation and when in reverse gear. 9.) Lamp to mounting bracket assembly torque must be 20 Nm (177 in-lbs) or greater. Montage Anleitung (Deutsch): Die Rückfahrscheinwerfer von Grote Industries entsprechen der gesetzlichen Vorschrift, ECE R23, die im Juli 2006 in Kraft getreten ist. Generell müssen Scheinwerfer dem neuen Gesetz entsprechend konstruiert und montiert werden. Eine Zusammenfassung von ECE R23 ist unten aufgeführt: 1.) Obligatorisch für Fahrzeuge > 0,75 t und optional für Fahrzeuge oder Anhänger < 0,75 t. 2.) Mindestens ein Scheinwerfer ist obligatorisch; ein Weiterer ist für Fahrzeuge in der Länge von 6 Metern optional. 3.) Für Fahrzeuge die eine Länge von 6 Metern überschreiten sind zwei Scheinwerfer Pflicht und zwei zusätzliche frei wählbar. 4.) Die frei gewählten Scheinwerfer werden an der Seite des Fahrzeugs angebracht. 5.) Die Lampe muss mindestens 250 mm bis maximal 1,200 mm über den Boden befestigt werden (siehe Detail #1). 6.) Der Scheinwerfer muss im 45 Winkel nach unten leuchtend am Fahrzeug angebracht werden. 7.) Eine Lampe, die an der Rückseite eines Fahrzeugs/ Anhängers befestigt wird, soll rückstrahlen. Seitlich angebrachte Scheinwerfer leuchten die seitliche Umgebung aus. (siehe Detail #2). 8.) Der Scheinwerfer soll nur leuchten, wenn der Motor des Fahrzeuges läuft und der Rückwärtsgang eingelegt ist. 9.) Das Anzugsdrehmoment zur Montage der Lampe an die Halterung muss 20 Nm oder größer sein. Deux phares sont obligatoires pour les véhicules plus longues que 6 mètres et deux additionnels sont volontaires. 4.) Les phares volontaires doivent être installés sur le côté du véhicule. 5.) Le phare doit être monté un minimum de 250 mm à un maximum de 1200 mm au dessus du sol comme montré en détail #1. 6.) Le Phare doit être visé dans une direction vers le sol de 45 comme montré en détail #1. 7.) Si la lampe est montée sur l arrière du véhicule/caravane il montrera vers l arrière. Si monté sur la côté de la caravane, la lampe montrera au côté comme montré en détail #2. 8.) Le phare doit seulement briller quand le moteur du véhicule tourne et le marche en arrière est mis. 9.) Le torque / moment de rotation pour le montage de la lampe au crochet doit être 20 Nm ou plus. Las dos lámparas opcionales pueden ser instaladas en los costados del vehiculo. 5.).Las lámparas deben ser montadas con un mínimo de 250 mm y hasta un máximo de 1200 mm por arriba del nivel de la tierra como se muestra en la figura # 1. 6.) Las lámparas deben ser apuntadas hacia abajo a 45 grados como muestra la figura #1. 7.) Si la lámpara es montada en la parte trasera del vehiculo/trailer deberá apuntar hacia atrás. Si es montada en el costado del trailer, la lámpara deberá apuntar hacia el costado como puede verse en la figura #2. 8.) La lámpara será conectada para permitir su uso solo durante el tiempo que el motor este encendido y cuando este la marcha en reversa. 9.) El esfuerzo de torsión para ensamblar la lámpara al soporte de montaje debe ser mayor o igual a 20 Nm.
