BASIC FUNCTIONS What are the advantages of WAYSUN over other solar bollard lights? - Proven operational reliability in southern regions: Company founder with 33 years of experience in solar solutions - Relevant, impressive design - Simple assembly on concrete base or groundscrew - Low overall weight (10 kg) - Highly efficient technology (control panel has low energy consumption) 2. INSTALLATION LOCATION What are the normal uses of WAYSUN? South of the 45th latitude (>1400Wh/m2/year solar irradiation) Winter operation is normally not recommended WAYSUN is installed in areas where there is no supply via an electric grid or connection to an electric grid is expensive. Due to its timeless design, it fits well in modern, urban settings as well as in surroundings that include listed buildings. V0.0 Date:May-11 Page 2 /6

3 Can WAYSUN also be used in partial shade? Basically yes. However, it is not recommended. Solar products feed on direct sun irradiation and battery charging will be severely compromised in shade. In what temperature range can WAYSUN be used? The standard model can be used in temperate climates. For hot climate zones, EPS soltec recommends a light coloured aluminium drive pipe and lamp crown or a completely white light. Normally a heat-resistant battery of up to 60 C is integrated in WAYSUN. What should be the distance between two lights? Individual distances correspond to the illumination requirements. Can WAYSUN be installed along a coast or in a port? Yes. However, the distance from the coast must be enough to ensure that the ocean water never directly reaches the light. Is WAYSUN resistant to sea water? Only to a limited extent. According to the manufacturer the powder coating on the aluminium crown (PV holder) only offers protection against saltwater if it is washed at least once a year. How long does it take to position WAYSUN? One hour on average. The required time may differ depending on the condition of the subsoil and whether a gauge ring or screw anchor is used. How is WAYSUN anchored in the ground? There are two possibilities. It can either be through a simple concrete gauge ring or using a screw anchor drilled directly into the subsoil. The condition of the subsoil determines the method. However, it must be clarified in advance. V0.0 Date:May-11 Page 3 /6

4 3. WAYSUN MODELS What are the WAYSUN models? A) Powder-coated aluminium drive pipe with a clear glass light crown. Drive pipes are quite suitable for advertising. B) Satinised, translucent plastic drive pipe with satinised light crown. LED basic lighting is used for the illumination. Both the models contain an optional coloured LED basic lighting that is lit up the entire night and a white main lighting that can also be activated via time management or motion sensor. Is there a time control for shutting down, for example after midnight? Yes. Many different standard programs are available as options. They offer dimming or switching off at defined time intervals. Another option is a model with a movement sensor, which automatically activates the main lamp at a distance of approximately 10m and then deactivates again after approximately 5 mins. What is the autonomous time of the solar lamps? With a fully charged battery, WAYSUN, for instance, can fulfil its night-time function for up to 34 hours even on foggy days -- in this example up to ~3 nights without solar recharging. Is WAYSUN available in other colours as well? Normally the main light of WAYSUN is supplied with cool white LEDs, since they are the most efficient. Other colours can also be provided on request; however this will reduce the luminous efficiency. V0.0 Date:May-11 Page 4 /6

5 4. Maintenance Do WAYSUN parts have to be replaced after a certain amount of time? EPS recommends a battery change every 6 years. Life cycle of the LEDs is approx. 50,000 hours (approximately 12 years). Can I replace WAYSUN parts on my own? Yes. The modular design of WAYSUN (pole, light crown and solar panel) makes replacement of components (e.g. of the battery) quite simple with basic technical skill. Please keep in mind the warranty instructions while carrying out this task! How are the batteries to be cleaned? We recommend a regular cleaning of the PV module with a mild glass cleaner. 6 5. TECHNOLOGY AND SAFETY How secure is the light against vandalism? The lamp is tested for high impact-stability IK10. The exception is the PV glass module with IK5. Does WAYSUN guarantee 100% operational reliability? There is no 100% guarantee. Even the street lights supplied by the supply grid cannot provide such a guarantee. The power saved in the WAYSUN battery may be exhausted in the event of extended periods of bad weather. However, the special solar module is designed to charge the battery on rainy days as well. 6. TEST CERTIFICATES AND STANDARDS What standards does WAYSUN conform to and which certificates/test certificates are there for WAYSUN? The following documents are available: - CE Conformity Declaration - Light dimension data (LDC) - EMV tested for: Interference resistance: Discharge of static electricity and electromagnetic fields in accordance with EN and EN Transient emissions: Magnetic interference field intensity according to EN Interference resistance: Discharge of static electricity and electromagnetic fields (GTEM) according to EN Does the screw-in gauge ring meet the corresponding standards?
