4 Technical Information for a Correct Selection of a ZDS Submersible Pump WHY A ZDS COMPLETE SOLUTION? Lower energy consumption Example: a complete solution (ZDS pump curve 9, depth of water: 6m, flow pressure: 40m, delivery: 40l /min) uses 40% less energy than a jet pump of equal performance. No need for protection against atmospheric agents No freezing No problem with friction losses and suction depth No need for external installation Total absence of noise No danger of electric shock Easy to install Best hydraulic performance Protection against any hydraulic and electrical problem Basic instructions for correct selection of the Complete Solution:. Delivery (Q) When you select a Complete Solution and you do not know the real delivery of the borehole, we recommend that you consider the smallest quantity of water that is necessary for that installation (Q = delivery of water). If the quantity of water you draw is bigger than the one that the borehole can deliver, the borehole itself might be damaged, even if the dry running protection of the pump is activated. To help in the selection of the correct delivery meeting your needs, we are going to list some extracts from the most popular European technical literature. Please consider that some studies show that the average per capita demand (related only to domestic use) calibrated on the current living standards of the population is approximately l/inhabitant per day. Looking at animals instead, studies show the following: Large animals cows and horses l/day Medium animals goats and pigs l/day Small animals chickens...5 l/day Regarding irrigation and other possible uses of water instead, it is necessary to consider the data provided by the manufacturer of the plant or equipment. 5 Technical Information for a Correct Selection of a ZDS Submersible Pump. Pressure In order to ensure the correct operating working pressure to the highest point of the plant, we advise you to make the calculation following described criteria for the determination of the pressure required by the pumps: H = A + B + C (see fig. ) H: Total Head, total dynamic pressure + safety factor % A: maximum difference between the water surface and the ground with pump in action B: distance from the ground to the highest point of use C: pressure required to the highest point of use + head losses (fig.) The total dynamic pressure (H) refers to the minimum pressure guaranteed. It may be influenced by the dynamic water level of the well, caused by the variation of the groundwater while the pump is running. In this case it is necessary to calculate correctly the dynamic water level of the well in order to avoid too much pressure for the user. As far as it relates to irrigation and other possible uses of water instead, it is necessary to consider the data provided by the manufacturer of the plant or equipment. Delivery (Q) Losses in mt for every 00 mt of rectilinear pipeline of a selected nominal diameter Material Galvanized steel Polyethylene PE 00 Galvanized steel Polyethylene PE 00 Galvanized steel Polyethylene PE 00 Galvanized steel Polyethylene PE 00 Galvanized steel Polyethylene PE 00 DN (mm) External diameter Nominal " " /4 " / " " / Internal (mm) 7 PN6 PN5 PN6 PN5 PN6 PN5 PN6 PN5 PN6 PN m /h l/min We recommend to install a proper cooling jacket in installations bigger than 0 cm, to guarantee the correct motor cooling flow. Please check the example of installations for each product. For every pipe curve 90 or valve you need to add losses: 0,8m For every check valve you need to add losses: 0,5m If possible we recommend not to exceed 5m losses in 00m of pipeline For internal diameter of polyethylene pipeline we consider PE00 UNI 090 fig. Tips and useful information: It is recommended to match the required hydraulic performance with the most efficient point of the pump. It is not recommended to use a pipe with a smaller diameter than the pump outlet connector ( /4 G for series from to 5, G for series 80). In any case head losses must be considered in relation to any diameter of the discharge pipe (see fig.). The section of the cable must be correctly chosen in relation to the required length and the power of the selected Complete Solution. If using a generator, it is necessary that its power is three times the rated power in kw of the submersible pump. In any case ZDS Complete Solutions can be protected against electrical faults using SLP (see accessories on page ). To complete the plant it is recommended to install the accessories offered by ZDS (pages,,). 5

6 Technical Information for a Correct Selection of a ZDS Submersible Pump. Examples of selection of a ZDS Submersible Pump ) Let s consider a rural house with apartments with points of use. The estimated water needed for the user is 40 lt/min, taking into account the factor of simultaneous use. There are also 50 units of poultry, 5 pigs and 5 cows and points of dispensing water for estimated water requirement of 5 lt/min. If we estimate that the entire system requires 75 lt/min of water delivery Q (according to a prudential estimate), we calculate the necessary pressure needed by the user considering that: A: the maximum difference between the water surface and the ground with pump in action is 7 metres H (m) ,8 m, kw 5,5 kw 57, kw 55 Pump curve 5 IMP g.p.m. B: the height from the ground to the highest point of use is 9 metres C: a working pressure of 0 metres of water column ( bar) is 0 0,75 kw required at the highest point and the head losses, appear to be equal 75 l/min to 8,0 metres. 5 6 These losses have been calculated considering that: Q (l/min) the entire pipeline of /4 in polyethylene is in PE00 and PN m /h submersible pump installation depth is 7 metres the installation depth of the pump is 9 metres fig. the length of the horizontal pipe from the well to the building is 80 metres The total length of the pipeline then generates approximately 7,66 metres of loss. In addition, the plant has three 90 bends that add an additional 0,54 metres of loss. H (ft) In our example we calculate H = A + B + C where the total height (H) results in 55,8 metres (sum of ,0 + an additional % which is,6 metres given by the prudential factor). To select the pump that will satisfy these hydraulic performances you have to evaluate the curves, depending on the required delivery (pages 77 for PG pumps, pages 05 for X.HE/P.HE, E.X/P.HF/HTF or X/P.HF/HTF.DRP). In this specific example we need 75 l/min of water and series 5 meets this requirement of delivery at the best efficiency point. Among the pumps from series 5, model 5 of, kw meets the requirement of H = 55,8 metres (equivalent to PG 5000 or X/P.5. HE, E.X/P.5.HF or X/P.5.HF.DRP for singlephase solutions; E.X/P.5.HTF or X/P.5.HTF.DRP for threephase solutions). PS. The calculation excludes the contribution of pressure due to the dynamic level of the well. ) Consider now that in a tourist village there are 5 bungalows, point of comfort, some showers, for a total of 00 points of use. The estimated water requirement is 0lt/min taking into account the factor of simultaneous use. If we calculate that the entire system requires 0 lt/min of water delivery Q (according to a prudential estimate), we calculate the necessary pressure needed by the user considering that: IMP g.p.m H (m) H (ft) 05 80,5 kw 8, kw 87 Pump curve 8 A: the maximum difference between the water surface and the ground with pump in action is 9 metres 55, kw B: the height from the ground to the highest point of use is 5 metres 0 C: a working pressure of 5 metres of water column (,5 bar) is 4, m 98 required at the highest point and the head losses, as from fig., appear to be equal to, metres 0 l/min 5 6 These losses have been calculated considering that: Q (l/min) the entire pipeline of in polyethylene is in PE00 and PN m /h the installation depth of the pump is 9 metres the height from the ground to the highest point of use is 5 metres fig. 4 the length of the horizontal pipe from the well to the building is 40 metres The total length of the pipeline then generates approximately,0 metres of loss. In addition, the plant has six 90 bends that add an additional,08 metres of loss. In our example we calculate H = A + B + C where the total height (H) results in 4, metres (sum of , + an additional % which is, metres given by the prudential factor). To select the pump that will satisfy these hydraulic performances you have to evaluate the curves, depending on the required delivery (pages 77 for PG pumps, pages 05 for X/P.HE, E.X/P.HF/HTF or X/P.HF/HTF.DRP). In this specific example we need 0 lt/min of water and series 8 meets this requirement of delivery at the best efficiency point (fig. 4). Among the pumps from series 8, model 8 of,5 kw meets the requirement of H = 4, metres (equivalent to E.X.8.HF or X.8.HF.DRP for singlephase solutions; E.X.8.HTF or X.8.HTF.DRP for threephase solutions) PS. The calculation excludes the contribution of pressure due to the dynamic level of the well. 6

7 Technical Information for a Correct Selection of a ZDS Submersible Pump IMP g.p.m H (ft) ) Consider now a small mountain chalet with a total of 5 points H (m) 766 of use. Given the depth of the aquifer in the area and the lack Pump curve of water, the user estimates a water requirement of 5 lt/min of 95, kw delivery Q. We then calculate the necessary pressure needed by the 7,9 m user considering that: ,75 kw 5 A: submersible pump installation depth is 0 metres B: the height from the ground to the highest point of use is 7 metres ,55 kw 8 66 C: a working pressure of 0 metres of water column ( bar) is required at the highest point and the head losses, 70 0,7 kw 66 as from fig., appear to be equal to.8 metres l/min These losses have been calculated considering that: Q (l/min) 5 the entire pipeline of /4 in polyethylene is in PE00 and PN5 0 0,5 m /h,5 the installation depth of the pump is 0 metres the height from the ground to the highest point of use is 7 metres fig. 5 the length of the horizontal pipe from the well to the building is 40 metres The total length of the pipeline then generates approximately,08 metres of loss. In addition, the plant has four 90 bends that add an additional 0,7 metres of loss. In our example we calculate H = A + B + C where the total height (H) results in 7,9 metres (sum of ,8 + an additional % which is 5,06 metres given by the prudential factor). To select the pump that will satisfy these hydraulic performances you have to evaluate the curves, depending on the required delivery (pages 77 for PG pumps, pages 05 for X/P.HE, E.X/P.HF/HTF or X/P.HF/HTF.DRP). In this specific example we need 5 lt/min of water and series meets this requirement of delivery at the best efficiency point. Among the pumps from series, model 6 of, kw meets the requirement of H = 7,9 metres (equivalent to E.X.6.HF or X..6. HF.DRP for singlephase solutions; E.X.6.HTF or X.6.HTF.DRP for threephase solutions). N.B. The calculation excludes the contribution of pressure due to the dynamic level of the well. How to read the code of a Complete Solution Let s take a E.X..HTF.0 Complete Solution as example: E. X.. 9 ZDS 4 Hydraulic parts QS4X and QS4P characteristics Each single part of QS4X and QS4P has been designed with particular care. The pump impellers, diffusers, stage boxes, bushings and floating rings are made of special technopolymers, materials to improve performance, efficiency and to resist corrosion. The checkvalve is integrated into the upper head to allow the weight of the water column and any water hammer to be discharged without damaging the impellers and diffusers. The checkvalves have undergone very severe durability tests, to overcome water hammers at 7 bar. The stainless steel coupling shaft is oversized to resist better mechanical torque. The special design of the hydraulic part, allows the pump to work even in heavy sand conditions, up to maximum of 0 g/m. Thanks to its particular design, ZDS hydraulic part automatically eliminates any air contained in the submersible pump. What is so special about the design of our hydraulic parts? The internal construction of our hydraulic parts primarily consists of the following components: technopolymer impellers with stainless steel support rings, technopolymer diffusers and stageboxes, thermoplastic bushing and floating rings. ZDS has selected this unique design in order to make the pump much more resistant to sand and equivalent abrasives. Compared to conventional designs and similar products available on the market, the ZDS hydraulic part needs less starting torque to start pumping. This is why the ZDS pump is a particularly good option when you are challenged with unstable power supply. Technical Specifications: Pumped liquid: clean, free of solids and abrasives, nonviscous, nonaggressive, noncrystallised and chemically neutral. Recommended maximum quantity of suspended sand: 0 g/m. These hydraulic parts are classified/graduated in a new energy efficiency index (MEI). Minimum Efficiency Index (MEI) is the dimensionless scale unit for hydraulic pump efficiency at best efficiency point (BEP), part load and overload. The operation of ZDS hydraulic parts for clean water in variable points of the performance curve can be more efficient and cheap if it is controlled, for example, by an adjustablespeed motor which adjusts the operation of the pump to the system. Trimmed impeller diameter offer lower efficiency than full impeller diameter. Impeller trimming will make the submersible pump work in a fixed point with lower energy consumption. Minimum Efficiency Index (MEI) is based on the full diameter impeller. Information about the referential efficiency are available on 9

17 4 submersible motors 50Hz and DRP pump protector

18 Pump Protector DRP What is the Pump Protector DRP? The Pump Protector DRP is an innovative electronic device that guarantees optimal protection of the submersible pump from dry running and other possible installations faults or operation failures. Where is the DRP installed and how does it work? The DRP is ready to use device, it is integrated into the connection cable and it doesn t need any further installation. In case of water shortage the DRP stops the pump when the water is below its sensor. The DRP (observing a programmed time) restarts the pump when the water rises above its sensor. Compared with traditional solutions, no additional cables, sensors and control boxes are needed. The DRP device has been developed and tested to protect the submersible pump from burnout in case of water shortage and in case of pump s repeated starts and stops (for example when the air in a pressure tank is low or the membrane is damaged). Please note the other protections listed in the chart below. If the DRP reaches the standby mode, it may be reset simply by disconnecting the power supply. The DRP must NOT be used with a frequency inverter. DRP doesn t work with demineralized water (such as rainwater). DRP must not be used as a float. ZDS motors with DRP has following protections: Dryrunning Thermal Protection Single Phase V Threephase 80 45V O, O, HF Overload Phase Loss Too Frequent Starts/Stops Low Voltage up to,5 kw * ** O, HF, kw * OT, HTF up to 4 kw * not available for HF and O motors ** Overload protection for O and HF motors is provided by the Control box Blue color for singlephase motors Voltage range: V / 50Hz Power range 0,5 kw, kw Red color for threephase motors Voltage range: V / 50Hz Power range 0,7 kw 4 kw 8

19 DRP information DRP Dry Running Operation The DRP working mode is based on water conductivity, for this reason it can t be used in water with low sali contents, such as rain water. When the pump runs dry the DRP will stop the motor. The DRP attempts to restart the motor automatically after a period of 0 seconds. If the pump runs dry again within 0 seconds, the DRP is programmed with following attempts of 00s, 600s, 00s, 400s and 4800 seconds. If the pump, during any of these timed cycles, runs for 0 seconds or more, the DRP will reset itself back to the first cycle. If the pump does not run continuously for 0 seconds in any of the programmed cycles (last cycle of 4800 seconds) within the last cycle, the DRP will put the pump in standby and it has to be reset by disconnecting the power supply, i.e. pulling the motor cable from the socket. If it occurs frequently, it means that delivery of the borehole is lower than delivery of the pump installed and the pump should be replaced with the one of lower delivery. DRP Overload Protection Available on Threephase motors with DRP and on singlephase motors with DRP,kW. If the current of the pump remains from 0 to 5% of the maximum allowed, the DRP will only allow the motor to work for 000 seconds (50 min). Afterwards, the DRP will stop the motor for 5 minutes. If the over current continues, this procedure will be repeated 0 times before the DRP eventually will put the pump in standby. DRP can only be reset by disconnecting the powersupply, i.e. pulling the motor cable from its socket for a minimum of 0 seconds. If the current exceeds 5% of the maximum allowed current for the motor, the DRP will let the motor run only for second. Afterwords DRP will stop the motor for 60 minutes. If the over current continues this procedure will be repeated 0 times before the DRP will eventually put the pump in standby. DRP can only be reset by disconnecting the powersupply, i.e. pulling the motor cable from the socket for minimum 0 seconds. If the number of attempts does not reach the standby mode, the DRP will be automatically reset when the motor has worked continuously for at least 5 seconds with current less than 0% of max current allowed of the motor. DRP DRP must be immersed in the same water of the pump, in order to guarantee the continuity between the DRP sensor and the pump casing. 9

In such cases the SLP interrupts the power supply. SLP is recommended to guarantee a complete protection also when a generator with internal combustion engine is used. Standard Operation voltage: 40V Frequency: 50Hz None of the SLPs can be used with a frequency inverter Model kw SLP SLP Up to. kw 0 A For. kw 6 A SLP is covered by Standard Warranty. A singlephase light protector against anomalous voltage swings, is indispensable when the power is supplied by an internal combustion current generator or when the pump is installed in areas frequently disturbed by lightning or by other causes. Green light = SLP operative When the light is green, the SLP is correctly powered and the pump is protected even if the pump is not operating. Red light = SLP operative (pump running) When the light is red, the SLP is correctly powered and the pump is protected during operation.

36 QPGo.X/P Singlephase Complete Solutions (V) 4 complete solution made by ZDS hydraulic part, DRPDry Running Protection (on request), wire singlephase oilcooled O motor and supply cable (different lengths available). These Complete Solutions, manufactured to ISO 900 standards, are available up to the maximum delivery of.000 l/h and m head. The O motor does not require a start and run control box, as the capacitor is built into it. The DRP is an electronic device that guarantees optimal protection of the pump against dryrunning and other possible installations faults or operation failures. In case of water shortage, the DRP stops the pump immediately when water drops below the DRP and it restarts the pump automatically a short time after the water rises above the DRP. Unlike traditional solutions, there is no need for additional cables, sensors or control boxes. The QPGo.X/P Complete Solutions are designed to be used in applications for lifting, distribution, and pressurisation in civil and industrial water systems, garden irrigation system, filling of pressure vessels and tanks, firefighting systems and washing systems, drainage systems, fountains supply. 37 QPGo.X/P Singlephase Complete Solutions (V) PROTECTIONS DESCRIPTION Singlephase ) Protection against dry running and lack of water in the well The DRP completely protects the QPGo.X/P.DRP Complete Solution against lack of water in the well, without the aid of other equipment (probes, cables, sensors, control panels etc.). In case of dry running, the DRP automatically stops the pump. When the water level is restored in the well, the DRP restarts the pump after a programmed cycle time. ) Thermal protection The thermal protection system stops the QPGo.X/P Complete Solution in case of overheating. This can happen because of: the high temperature of the pumped liquid; when the minimum distance between the pump installed and the well bottom isn t respected; when the pump is installed in well/tanks bigger than 4 without a proper cooling system; when the pump works in shutoff. 4) Protection against leaks in the installation and too frequent starts and stops The DRP protects the QPGo.X/P.DRP Complete Solution against leaks in the piping system (also when the pressure tank is exhausted or its membrane is damaged, or when there is a defective pressure switch) and too frequent starts and stops (for example if the tank is too small for the system). In such cases, to avoid potential damages, the DRP makes the pump enter the standby mode. 5) Protection against low voltage The DRP protects the QPGo.X/P.DRP Complete Solution against low voltage, that can damage the motor. Low voltage can occur, for example, if the section of the power cable is not adequate considering the motor power and the distance between the plug and the pump itself; or if a generator is faulty or undersized for the pump. 6) Protection against voltage peak The DRP protects the QPGo.X/P.DRP Complete Solution against voltage peaks, which can be caused by electric abnormalities in the supply network or by other various electrical interferences. It reduces overvoltage, keeping the correct operating voltage range. Information on proper installation 4 DRP 5. QPGo.X/P. DRP. Pressure Switch 4. Press Tank 5. Pressure gauge min m The correct pump must be selected considering the delivery pressure and the characteristics of the plant. During installation of a submersible pump, it is necessary to verify if the power supply voltage is correct. The correct pump operation is guaranteed when the power cable section is correctly selected, considering the motor power and the distance between the pump and the plug itself. If you are using a generator with an internal combustion engine, it is necessary that the generator s power measured in kw (in continuous delivery) is three times the rated power in kw of the submersible pump. To guarantee automatic operation mode (the pump starts and stops when open and close the tap) it is necessary to connect a pressure switch and a pressure tank of the correct size, if the plant is not already provided with them. We recommend to install a proper cooling jacket in installations bigger than 0 cm, to guarantee the correct motor cooling flow. The maximum quantity of sand allowed in the pumped water is 0g/m³. The DRP must NOT be used with a frequency inverter. DRP doesn t work with demineralized water (such as rain water). DRP must not be used as a float. The DRP must be immersed in the same water as the pump in order to ensure continuity between the DRP and the pump casing. In order to reset the electronic protections, disconnect the pump power, wait 0 seconds, then plug it in again. In order to reset the thermal protection, disconnect the pump power, wait that the correct working temperature parameters are restored, then plug it in again. 7 * technopolymer version ) Overload protection In case the QPGo.X/P Complete Solution is partially or totally blocked, is protected against overload.

41 X/P.O Singlephase Complete Solutions (V) PROTECTIONS DESCRIPTION Singlephase ) Protection against dry running and lack of water in the well The DRP completely protects the X/P.O.DRP Complete Solution against lack of water in the well, without the aid of other equipment (probes, cables, sensors, control panels etc.). In case of dry running, the DRP automatically stops the pump. When the water level is restored in the well, the DRP restarts the pump after a programmed cycle time. ) Overload protection The ZDS Control Box protects the X/P.O Complete Solution against overload. In case the pump is partially or totally blocked, the overload protection in the ZDS Control Box stops the pump to protect it. 4) Protection against low voltage The DRP protects the X/P.O.DRP Complete Solution against low voltage, that can damage the motor. Low voltage can occur, for example, if the section of the power cable is not adequate considering the motor power and the distance between the plug and the pump itself; or if a generator is faulty or undersized for the pump. 5) Protection against voltage peak The DRP protects the X/P.O.DRP Complete Solution against voltage peaks, which can be caused by electric abnormalities in the supply network or by other various electrical interferences. It reduces overvoltage, keeping the correct operating voltage range. * technopolymer version ) Protection against leaks in the installation and too frequent starts and stops The DRP protects the X/P.O.DRP Complete Solution against leaks in the piping system (also when the pressure tank is exhausted or its membrane is damaged, or when there is a defective pressure switch) and too frequent starts and stops (for example if the tank is too small for the system). In such cases, to avoid potential damages, the DRP makes the pump enter the standby mode. Information on proper installation 6 4 DRP 5 min m. X/P.O. DRP. Pressure Switch 4. Press Tank 5. Pressure gauge 6. Control Box The correct pump must be selected considering the delivery pressure and the characteristics of the plant. In order to reset the overload protection sensor, it is necessary to press the appropriate button on the CBO. 4

56 X/P.HF Singlephase Complete Solutions (V) 4 complete solution made by ZDS hydraulic part, DRPDry Running Protection (on request), ZDS Control Box (which includes start and run capacitor and amperometric protection), singlephase Franklin watercooled encapsulated motor and supply cable (different lengths available). These Complete Solutions, manufactured to ISO 900 standards, are available in stainless steel or technopolymer version up to maximum delivery of l/h and 00 m head. The X/P.HF Complete Solutions are designed to be used in applications for lifting, distribution, and pressurisation in civil and industrial water systems, garden irrigation system, filling of pressure vessels and tanks, firefighting systems and washing systems, drainage systems, fountains supply. AUTOMATIC PROTECTIONS Dryrunning* Overload (* overload protection is provided by the Control Box) Low Voltage* Too Frequent Starts/Stops* Voltage Peaks* Encapsulated water cooled Franklin motor DRP Dry Running Protection* (on request) Amperometric thermal protection offered by ZDS Control Box Maximum immersion depth: 50m Maximum delivery (Q): l/h * stainless steel version 56

57 X/P.HF Singlephase Complete Solutions (V) Singlephase PROTECTIONS DESCRIPTION ) Protection against dry running and lack of water in the well The DRP completely protects the pump against lack of water in the well, without the aid of other equipment (probes, cables, sensors, control panels etc.). In case of dry running, the DRP automatically stops the pump. The DRP restarts the pump after a programmed cycle time. ) Overload protection The ZDS Control Box protects the X/P.HF Complete Solution against overload. In case the pump is partially or totally blocked, the overload protection in the ZDS Control Box stops the pump to protect it. 4) Protection against low voltage The DRP protects the pump against low voltage, that can damage the motor. Low voltage can occur, for example, if the section of the power cable is not adequate considering the motor power and the distance between the plug and the pump itself; or if a generator is faulty or undersized for the pump. 5) Protection against voltage peak The DRP will protect the pump against voltage peaks, which can be caused by electric abnormalities in the supply network or by other various electrical interferences. It reduces overvoltage, keeping the correct operating voltage range. * technopolymer version ) Protection against leaks in the installation and too frequent starts and stops The DRP will protect the pump against leaks in the piping system (also when the pressure tank is exhausted or its membrane is defective, or when there is a defective pressure switch) and too frequent starts and stops (for example if the tank is too small for the system). In such cases, to avoid potential damages, the DRP makes the pump enter the standby mode. Information on a proper installation If you are using a generator with an internal combustion engine, it is necessary that the generator s power measured in kw (in continuous delivery) is three times the rated power in kw of the submersible pump To guarantee automatic operation mode (the pump starts and stops when open and close the tap) it is necessary to connect a pressure switch and a pressure tank of the correct size, if the plant is not already provided with them. The DRP must NOT be used with a frequency inverter. DRP doesn t work with demineralized water (such as rain water). DRP must not be used as a float. DRP min m. X/P. HF. DRP. Control Box 4. Manometer 5. Pressure Switch 6. Press Tank The DRP must be immersed in the same water as the pump in order to ensure continuity between the DRP and the pump casing. The correct pump must be selected considering the delivery pressure and the characteristics of the plant. See B+C on page 45. The maximum quantity of sand allowed in the pumped water is 0g/m. In order to reset the electronic protections, disconnect the pump power, wait 0 seconds, then plug it in again. In order to reset overload protection sensor, it is necessary to press the appropriate button on the CBH. 57

70 Plug&GO Singlephase Sumbersible Pump (V) 4 singlephase complete solution made of ZDS hydraulic part with integrated electronic, wires singlephase encapsulated watercooled motor and supply cable (different lengths available). The Plug&GO submersible pump, manufactured to ISO 900 standards, is available up to maximum delivery of 6000 l/h and 79 m head. This unique product is particularly recommended for domestic installations, since it is completely automatic and easy to be installed (it only needs a pressure tank to compensate for any leaks in the plant). The integrated electronics ensures the operation of the pump (pressure switch is not needed) and protects the pump against many other possible problems. AUTOMATIC PROTECTIONS Dryrunning Thermal Protection Overload Low/High Voltage Too Frequent Starts/Stops Soft Start Voltage Peaks * guaranteed by SLP No pressure switch required Easy to install Integrated start and run capacitor Maximum immersion depth: 0m / 50m Maximum delivery (Q): 6000 l/h 70

71 Plug&GO Singlephase Sumbersible Pump (V) ) Protection against dry running and lack of water in the well or tank The Plug&GO pump completely protects itself against lack of water in the well or tank, without the aid of other equipment (probes, cables, sensors, control panels etc.). In case of dry running, the Plug&GO pump automatically stops, to restart after a programmed cycle time. ) Thermal protection The Plug&GO pump is automatically protected against motor overheating. This can happen because of: the high temperature of the pumped liquid; when the minimum distance between the pump installed and the well bottom isn t respected; when the pump is installed in well/tanks bigger than 4 without a proper cooling system; when the pump works in shutoff. In such cases, the thermal protection system stops the pump, which automatically restarts as soon as the correct working temperature parameters are restored. ) Protection against Overload The Plug&GO pump is completely protected against overload. In case the pump is partially or totally blocked, the Plug&GO software, after some automatic restart attempts, makes the pump enter the standby mode. 4) Protection against leaks in the installation and too frequent starts and stops The Plug&GO pump is automatically protected against leaks in the piping system (also when the pressure tank is exhausted or its membrane is damaged) and too frequent starts and stops (for example if the tank is of the incorrect size). In these cases, the Plug&GO automatically enters the standby mode. It is always necessary to install a pressure tank on the delivery pipe, between the pump and any other devices (such as reducing valves, filters, etc.). Press Tank not included, see page 5) Protection against low/high voltage The Plug&GO pump is protected against low or high voltage, that can damage the motor. Low voltage can occur, for example, if the section of the power cable is not adequate considering the motor power and the distance between the plug and the pump itself; or if a generator is faulty or undersized for the pump. High voltage can occur with unstable supply network or with a faulty generator. In these situations, in order to avoid potential damages, the pump stops running. A number of consecutive automatic attempts verifies if the operating parameters are correct; if they are not, the pump enters standby mode. 6) Soft start An electronic soft start reduces power consumption at the start of the pump. It will avoid annoying drops in power i.e.: flickering lights. Thanks to this function, energy will be saved and the pump will be more reliable. This will also extend the pump s life. The Plug&GO pump starts and works even in case of tension drop. 7) Checkvalve working test The Plug&GO pump regularly controls if the check valve works properly and if it is not clogged by any impurities. In case it is clogged, a special electronic procedure mechanically releases the check valve or makes the pump enter the standby mode. 8) SLP: Protection against voltage peaks SLP device protects the electronic inside the Plug&GO pump against voltage peaks, which can be caused by electric abnormalities in the supply network or by other various electrical interferences. It reduces overvoltage, keeping the correct operating voltage range or interrupts the power supply in case of very high peaks. It is recommended to install Plug&GO pump with SLP protection device. SLP code: not included, see page Information on proper installation To prevent any malfunction of Plug&GO, it is necessary to connect a pressure tank, if the plant is not already provided with it. Not included (for pressure tank models see page ).. Plug&GO. Press Tank. SLP If you are using a generator with an internal combustion engine, it is necessary that the generator s power measured in kw (in continuous delivery) is three times the rated power in kw of the submersible pump. To guarantee a complete protection against voltage peaks, we recommend to install the SLP (see page ). The correct pump must be selected considering the delivery pressure and the characteristics of the plant. See B+C on pages 45. The maximum quantity of sand allowed in the pumped water is 0g/m. In order to reset a pump which entered the standby mode, disconnect the pump power, wait 0 seconds, then plug it in again. 75 X/P. HE Singlephase Complete Solutions (V) Singlephase PROTECTIONS DESCRIPTION ) Protection against dry running and lack of water in the well or in the tank The pump completely protects itself against lack of water in the well or tank, without the aid of other equipment (probes, cables, sensors, control panels etc.). In case of dry running, the HE Complete Solution automatically stops to restart after a programmed cycle time. * technopolymer version ) Thermal protection The HE Complete Solution is automatically protected against motor overheating. This can happen because of: the high temperature of the pumped liquid; when the minimum distance between the pump installed and the well bottom isn t respected; when the pump is installed in well/tanks bigger than 4 without a proper cooling system; when the pump works in shutoff. In such cases, the thermal protection system stops the complete solution, which automatically restart as soon as the correct working temperature parameters are restored. ) Protection against Overload The HE Complete Solution is completely protected against overload. In case the pump is partially or totally blocked, the HE software, after some automatic restart attempts, makes the pump enter the standby mode. 4) Protection against leaks in the installation and too frequent starts and stops The HE Complete Solution is automatically protected against leaks in the piping system (also when the pressure tank is exhausted or its membrane is defective, or when there is a defective pressure switch) and too frequent starts and stops (for example if the tank is of the incorrect size). In these cases, after some automatic restart attempts, the HE Complete Solution automatically enters the standby mode. 5) Protection against low/high voltage The HE Complete Solution is protected against low or high voltage, that can damage the motor. The HE Complete Solution starts and works even in case of tension drops. 7) SLP: Protection against voltage peak SLP device protects the electronic inside the HE Complete Solution against voltage peaks, which can be caused by electric abnormalities in the supply network or by other various electrical interferences. It reduces overvoltage, keeping the correct operating voltage range or it interrupts the power supply in case of very high peaks. To guarantee automatic operation mode (the pump starts and stops when open and close the tap) it is necessary to connect a pressure switch and a pressure tank of the correct size, if the plant is not already provided with them.
