2 OUR HISTORY Herforder Elektromotorenwerke we move with the times. If you are in tune with time, nothing is transitory. We started with time, we leaned from it, and it still accompanies us today. And it still inspires us as it has done for almost 120 years. Precision is something which has grown from our tradition and the reliability of our experience. It is also a certain basis for progress. 5 OUR PRODUCTS Lack of drive? Not with us. Let your imagination loose. There is no limit to the variety of our motors except for those that you specify. We produce asynchronous motors which are as individual as your requirements. What do you need? Three-phase, alternating current? Maybe explosion protected? We will be glad to help you choose. No matter what you select you are always on the right side with our motors. Because: HEW motors are only approved if they fulfi l certain safety requirements e.g. UL / CSA for the North American market, GOST-R for Russia and GL (German Lloyd) if they are to be used for marine applications. In addition, acceptance of "explosion protected" motors is carried out by the German Physikalish-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB). 6 OUR PRODUCTS We can also be colourful. Of course, we fi rst turn our attention to the heart of each motor. Ultimately the well-designed interior ensures that the drive runs smoothly later. But not only the inner values count. The exterior of the motor is also important. Is the housing to be smooth, so that there are no dust and dirt deposits in the chemical and food industries? Or is a ribbed surface primarily important for the dissipation of heat? Doe you prefer an especially quiet and robust motor with a cast iron housing, or is the tried and tested aluminium housing suffi cient? And what colour? Signal red? Deep blue? We paint your motors in the RAL colour which you specify, so that your motor does not remain hidden. 7 OUR SOLUTIONS All-rounders. Almost every time. Is there a life behind the electromagnetic impulses? We believe there is! Motors which are made with such a love of detail and technical know-how have a soul. How else could they be so dear to us? Motors mix, form, pack, fi ll, empty, weave and convey. They drive and brake. They open up whole worlds and sometimes even curtains and stage sets such as in the Semper Opera in Dresden or theatres in Moscow and Athens. We could burst with pride. 8 OUR SOLUTIONS High efficiency. Modesty is a sign of greatness. We know what we are talking about. When it comes to doing great things with a minimum of effort, our motors are right at the top as hear at the head of wind energy systems. They move the pitch system of the individual rotor blades, so that they are always in the wind. In the azimuth they ensure the guidance of the head of the system in order to optimally follow the wind. They also drive the ventilation to prevent the generator from overheating. Our motors can do all of these things and they are also effi cient! HEW motors make an essential contribution to generating energy instead of consuming it. They point the way to new, environmentally friendly technologies. They are wonders of effi ciency and economy. But above all: they are a clean solution. 15
