6 What is MaaS? This presentation will explain what we mean by Mobility as a Service (MaaS), and what this means for transport users. De Verkeersonderneming aims to stimulate and facilitate MaaS for people in the Rotterdam area in the near future. Passengers are central to ideas. Private businesses are given space to explore and develop good MaaS concepts.

7 What is MaaS? Mobility as a Service (MaaS) enables people to make door to door journeys with a single plan. A range of modes are used: public transport, taxis, shared cars and rented bicycles. With MaaS there is no need to think about single parts of the journey. You can travel from A-B with ease in a way and time that suits you. MaaS is a fully-fledged alternative to travelling with your own car.

The Journey Multimodal planner with information about all travel options, real-time travel information, costs and possible extra services such as booking a parking space All available travel options organised in one place. Book taxis, shared cars or public transport from one platform Travel with a range of modalities, such as shared bicycles, mass transport such as the metro, but also with shared cars, water taxi or buses Support during the journey with route information, locationbased services and predictions about the course of the trip, travel conditions and arrival time In the event of disruptions such as delays or congestion, pro-active and reatime alternatives are offered based on what the system understands about user requirements All travel costs are settled in one subscription. For example, through monthly mobility packages tailored to mobility needs of specific groups

9 The traveller and MaaS? Travellers want: comfortable, reliable, cheap and flexible mobility Different target groups have differing needs In many MaaS projects the technical aspects are the focus. Little is known about the needs of travellers

Experienced issues when using a shared car and consider buying a car. Lives: with partner in Delft Samir 20- the student Travels daily to the college and back again. Fortunately, all of that is free with his student card and is very well arranged but takes involves one transfer. Has a bicycle but not in Rotterdam Bob 35 the driver Rides daily to work in the car and is often stuck in traffic. Bob is bored of traffic jams but hasn t yet found a fully-fledged alternative. Lives: With his family in Lansingerland Mevr. van Beek 65+ the pensioner Stays in her neighborhood, she, would like to visit her family more often or go on a day out. Public transport is expensive and complicated. Lives: Alone in Charlois 10
