5 Introduction Main idea of MobiMart: apply this mechanism to sustainable travel behaviour on the level of public bodies, companies or individuals MobiMart = Mobility credit Market Precondition: a limit of mobility credits is set and all stakeholders are forced to participate

6 Introduction A future scenario: A certain amount of mobility credits is assigned to each person/institution and a certification system is implemented in a way that trading with mobility credits is allowed and incentives are given to collect as much credits as possible because one can buy other valuable things for it. Using sustainable mobility options would be awarded with mobility credits and unsustainable options such as car driving would cost mobility credits. Not yet been tested in practise Main questions: 1. How to calculate the virtuous km for the mobility credits 2. How to design incentives in an effective and attractive way.

16 Evaluation framework impact evaluation impacts are measured with valid data common CIVITAS indicators used to ensure cross-site evaluation process evaluation annual analysis of the measure implementation processes: barriers, drivers, reactions on them and lessons learned concept evaluation research and technology development activities are analyzed and described for a broader audience and put into the measure and city context

18 First results: process evaluation Barriers in the preparation phase: Alignment to an existing system instead of feasibility study to set it up insufficient involvement of a key stakeholder due to change of the management in a pilot structure market analysis instead of feasibility study and involvement of a new stakeholder Barriers in the implementation phase: Complexity of the problem caused a minor delay in measure implementation

19 First results: process evaluation Lessons learnt Complexity of the problem itself and constant changes in mobility matters were main barriers Impact of policies on activities may require flexibility due to possible change in local framework Evaluation is a core activity that gives the base to implementation and demonstration allows successful management Data collected often are not in line with expected quality better to focus on less data and a smaller sample than vice-versa.

20 Outlook Car sharing pilot will start in 2nd half of 2011 Car pooling pilot is ready to start Citizens by bike implementation will start in May 2011 Further analysis and validation of the conversion method to calculate virtuous km Maybe in future: more research on the ideal design of incentives as rewards for saved km Interesting data will be available by the end of MIMOSA!
