Execution Upon signing the MOA, the work of assessing, designing and constructing the Anankwin Micro Grid started. In order to assess the needs of the community, the consortium retained the National Rural Electrification Cooperative Association (NRECA) for the needs and willingness to pay survey and the initial design of the system. In October, 2017 we hired 8 local youth who were trained by NRECA in surveying techniques and in the use of handheld tablets. Each house and business in the village was visited and the results were compiled in a report by NRECA that was received in January 2018 (report cover is a typo)
Training In conjunction with Schneider Electric Myanmar Branch Office and the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI), The local association (MREF Anankwin) sent 9 people to Yangon for 3 weeks of training in basic electricity and home wiring. According to the people at the UMFCCI, we were the first group to sponsor training for local hires of a rural electrification project. Schneider Electric, as part of its commitment to rural electrification provides the teachers and study materials for the students. The UMFCCI provides the classroom and administrational support.
Construction Upon receiving the preliminary plan from NRECA, construction of the distribution system was started with the ordering of the power poles and cable and the staking of the distribution lines. Aung Thidi Phyo, a Yangon based construction company was contracted and they began digging the holes for the power poles. The transmission cables and poles arrived and installation began in February 2018
Construction The distribution system requires over 250 poles in 12 meter and 10 meter lengths and includes a 11kv high power trunk line, 7 stepdown transformers and a network of 400w feeder lines that connect to the houses through 200w junction boxes.
Construction Pole installation, 400w distribution line, control box.
