2 FEATURES, DESCRIPTION FEATURES x High flow cartridges give highest flow performance due to their special 2/2-seat valve design. x High flow cartridges offer 40 to 50 % more flow capability in comparison with the same size of standard 2/2-seat valve cartridges. x In many applications, the cartridge size can be choosed one size smaller. x Fully interchangeable with ISO 7368 (DIN 24342) cavity; no manifold redesign required. x Control covers: for direct operation to mount a directional valve CETOP 03/05 (depends on cartridge size) with internal shuttle valve Example: Cartridge with control cover and direct hydraulical operation DESCRIPTION Cartridge valves, also known as 2/2-way valves, can be used depending on the control input as: Directional Control Valves controlling flow from A B or B A. High flow cartridges are also 2-way hydraulically operated seat valves. They can be closed e. g. by pilot flow through port X and opened by the main flow from port B by effecting the annular area A B (see page 3). The basic cartridge valve includes a valve spool and a sleeve which is normally closed and held in this neutral position by a spring. The poppet valve has a seated spool, which dependent upon the pilot control, gives a leak-free condition across the main flow (A m n B). The closing spring is retained by the control cover which encloses the cartridge valve and provides pilot connections from the X port.to provide direct control of the cartridge valve various types of pilot control can be mounted eitheron the control coveroron an adjacent manifold face. The effective areas of the basic element are A A,A B and A X.Pilot oil can be taken from port A, B or both A and B (with a shuttle valve) or an external source. Hydraulic fluid can flow through the 2-way cartridge valve from A n BorB n A. A pilot valve can be used on a manifold block or on the cover to directly control the switching function of the cartridge valve. As the pilot pressure at X reduces, the valve spool opens. Then fluid can flow from A to B or vice-versa. If there is a pressure difference between connection B and pilot connection X, as a result of clearance between the spool and the sleeve, a small leakage can be the result. In order to make that leakage ineffective a leakfree pilot seat valve should be used. 2
