3 ASSOCIATION OF ROMANIAN AERONAUTICAL COMPANIES Established in 1998, the Association of Romanian Aeronautical Companies is a not-for-profit, apolitical and non-governmental organisation, intended to support and to protect the interests of its member companies, facilitating direct contacts with Unions, State representatives, legislative and governmental bodies. OPIAR represents the joint interests of members in the Romanian Aeronautical Industry. Its responsibilities include developing strategies for and promoting the image of the Industry in the world market place. OPIAR plays an active role in the elaboration of the aeronautical industry policy, intending to challenge the industry to work together in order to come up with strong and competitive positions. OPIAR is actively working with its member companies to ensure that this tremendously important industry remains competitive in the new global economy, trying to develop close cooperation with similar industries around the world. The Organisation is the voice of an industry with approx employees. Its activities provide a framework through which the Industry can increase its competitiveness and remain a significant player in the global aerospace market. OPIAR focuses on: Lobby activities for promoting the interests of Romania s Aeronautical Industry; Identification of possible funding to sustain current and future programmes developed by the Romanian MoD; Developing and promoting a specific commercial policy for its members on third markets; Sustaining the integration process of the Romanian Aeronautical Industry into the global market structure. The breath and depth of membership ensures that OPIAR represents the Industry to the Romanian Government, as well as in the international arena. Backed up by more than 30 year of experience (company being founded on 16 May 1980) in the field of avionics and turned towards future technological advances, S.C. The company development process involved following directions: A. Research and development. Involve accomplish of projects and technologies for new products, own conception within research programs, or assimilate products after existing designs, on customers request. The design is 2D and 3D computer aided, using AUTOCAD and SOLIDWORKS for mechanic design and ORCAD for electronics design. We also design our own software for equipments configuration. B. Production SC AEROFINA SA is one the main supplier of products and services for Romanian Military Air Force. Other important customers are: ELBIT SYSTEMS - Israel; MEGGITT DEFENSE SYSTEMS Ltd England; MATRA BAE SYSTEMS - France; BOMBARDIER Transportation- Sweden. In present day SC AEROFINA SA take part into the up-grade program of the advanced training aircraft IAR-99 SOIM and IAR-330 PUMA SOCAT helicopter. C. Testing and evaluation Accomplished in company laboratories through environmental tests in accordance with MIL-STD-810F, or GAM-EG13B. D. Acceptance and quality assurance. To deliver high quality products, SC AEROFINA SA has documented, implemented and maintains a Quality Management System according to SR EN ISO as reference which covers activities for research design development, production, testing and repairs-overhaul for instruments and equipment for the air spatial, ground and naval techniques. 9 COMOTI COMOTI is the Romanian Research & Development Institute for Gas Turbines and is involved in research & development, CFD application, testing and small series manufacturing in the field of gas turbine engines, high speed bladed machinery and environment protection equipment.
