Project proposal: The site is located at the intersection of longitude E and latitude N. The site is surrounded by vacant lands in north direction, vacant lands in west direction followed by Godavari river stream flowing from northwest to southeast direction, road connecting Kanhegaon and Sakarwadi is in east direction and Sakarwadi village in south direction. The nearest human settlement from the site is residential colony of the plant within the campus. There are no reserve forest, national parks, sanctuaries within 10 km radius of the site. Process Description Chemical synthesis produces majority of drugs currently in the market. Chemical synthesis consists of four steps - reaction, separation, purification, and drying. Large volumes of solvents are used during chemical syntheses, extractions, and solvent interchanges. The manufacturing process of the above mentioned products involve various types of reactions like acetylyzation, protection, de-protection, hydrogenation, hydrolysis etc. Sources of Air Pollution The sources of air pollution in the plant are from the existing 2 x 18 TPH, 1 x 35 TPH Coal fired boilers and standby DG set of 1 x 590 kva. It is proposed to establish 2 x 35 TPH coal fired boilers, 1 x 2 Lac K.Cal/hr and 1 x 10 lac. K.cal/hr thermic fluid heaters and 4 x 1000 kva standby DG sets in addition to existing boilers and DG set. Electro static precipitators (ESP) will be provided for 2 x 35 TPH coal fired boilers Boiler as air pollution control equipment. DG sets shall be provided with stack heights based on the CPCB formula for effective stack height. Water requirement and its management: The total water requirement shall increase from 2134 KLD to 3768 KLD out of which 2620 KLD will be fresh water requirement and 1148 KLD is recycled water. The total fresh water requirement shall be met from Godavari river canal or infiltration well in Godavari river. The effluent generated from process, washings, scrubbers, cooling towers & boiler blow downs, RO/DM rejects from pre-treatment of water and domestic wastewater of about 1303 KLD. It is proposed to treat effluent from process, washings, scrubbers and R&D in biological treatment plant followed by RO. Blow downs are sent to settling tank followed by RO. Rejects from RO sent to MEE and permeate is used for cooling towers as make up. Solid and Hazardous waste: Solid wastes are generated from process, solvent distillation, stripper, ATFD, ETP (primary & secondary), and DG sets. The stripper distillate, process residue and solvent residue are sent to cement plants for co-incineration. The evaporation salts, ETP sludge and ash from incinerator are sent to TSDF. Waste oil and used batteries from the DG sets are sent to authorize recyclers. Ash generated from coal fired boilers sent to brick manufacturers. The other solid wastes Page No. 4

5 expected from the unit are containers, empty drums which are returned to the product seller or sold to authorized buyers after detoxification. Green belt Development: 45.7 acres of land of the total land area is developed as green belt. Applicability of EIA notification 2006: All Synthetic organic chemicals manufacturing units located outside notified industrial area are listed at S.No. 5(f) of Schedule of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Notification under category A and are appraised at Central Level by Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC).
