4 LSM Rev IR Page 2 Installation Instructions 1. Prior to light installation, aim the landing and taxi lights against a suitable target board and mark the location of the beams. This will be used later to adjust the new lights. 2. Remove the LH/RH wingtip access panels. Remove the LH/RH leading edge lens covers. Remove the stock landing and taxi lights. 5 LSM Rev IR Page 3 Photo #2 3. Two LSM-SCD (35W) or LSM-SCD (60W) ballasts will be mounted inside the LH and RH wingtip access panels using Click Bond studs. 4. Temporarily attach 3 Click Bond studs to the mounting guide using AN315-3R nuts. Position mounting guide and bond the studs in place per the instructions included with the Click Bond kit. Prior to bonding, prepare the surface in accordance with the instructions. After adhesive has cured, re-apply finishes as required. See photo 3. 6 LSM Rev IR Page 4 5. Attach the ballasts using (9) AN washers, (3) NAS43DD3-48FC spacers and (3) MS nuts. Installation is typical for all ballasts. See Figures 1 and 2. LoPresti Aviation / or fax Airport Drive East, Sebastian, Florida, 32958, U.S.A.

7 LSM Rev IR Page 5 6. Trim the stock taxi / landing light power and ground leads back to the new ballast mounting location. Attach these leads to the LSM-SCD Ballast to Power Wire using M7928/5-4 connectors, then cover with M23053/ shrink tubing or equivalent. Attach the harness connectors to the ballasts. Apply Dow Corning DC4 di-electric compound (or equivalent) to both connectors prior to attaching. See Figure 3 Wiring Diagram. 7. Install Lamp/Starter Assembly LSM-SCD onto Lens Reflector Assembly (LSM-SCD or LSM-SCD-003-1) using supplied gasket and secure in place with LSM Strap using (2) of the existing screws on Reflector Lens Assy. See photo 4. Photo #4 8. Install two LSM-SCD Landing Reflector Assys in the inboard light positions using the existing brackets and hardware. Install two LSM-SCD Taxi Reflector Assys in the outboard light positions using the existing brackets and hardware. Ensure the connectors are pointing in the down or 6:00 direction. See photo 5. 8 LSM Rev IR Page 6 Photo #5 9. Attach the LSM-SCD W harnesses to the inboard light connectors and the LSM-SCD W harnesses to the outboard light connectors. Apply Dow Corning DC4 di-electric compound (or equivalent) to both connectors prior to attaching. 10. Route the LSM-SCD-008 harnesses to the ballast location. Attach the harness connectors to the ballasts. Apply Dow Corning DC4 di-electric compound (or equivalent) to both connectors prior to attaching. Secure the harnesses to surrounding structure using MS cable tie wraps per AC B. 11. Perform power on light test. Verify light aiming using markings from step 1. 10 LSM Rev IR Page 8 Maintenance Requirements Instructions for Continued Airworthiness Modification of an aircraft by this Supplemental Type Certificate obligates the aircraft operator to include the maintenance information provided by this document in the operator s Aircraft Maintenance Manual and the operator s Aircraft Scheduled Maintenance Program. 1. Maintenance Manual information for the Boom Beam is contained in LoPresti Aviation Installation Manual Number LSM (this document), and should be placed into the operators appropriate airplane Maintenance Manual. 2. Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) part numbers and other necessary part numbers contained in the installation data package should be placed into the aircraft operators appropriate airplane Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC). 3. Wiring diagram information contained in this data package should be placed into the aircraft operators appropriate airplane Wiring Diagram Manuals. 4. Scheduled Maintenance Program tasks to be added to the aircraft operators appropriate airplane maintenance program are as follows: During an annual or 100-hour inspection interval, inspect the mechanical and electrical integrity of the BOOM BEAM equipment and components. All fasteners must be checked for tightness and all cable ties must be checked for the security of the wiring harnesses. Loose or broken fasteners or cable ties must be tightened or replaced. The wiring harnesses must be checked for frayed or damaged insulation, broken wires or connectors. Replace if damaged. The bulb/starters, ballasts and reflectors must be checked for soundness in mechanical and electrical conditions. Cracked or broken bulb/starter, ballast, or reflector must be replaced. Electrical Load Analysis The existing aircraft lighting system consists of two landing lights and two taxi lights. Each light is rated at 250 watts and draws a maximum of 8.9 amperes at 28 VDC. Steady state values will be lower, as the lamps warm up. 35W Ballast Kit: The new Boom Beam installation replaces the four existing lamps with a ballast and lamp assembly; a total of four assemblies. Each ballast assembly draws a maximum of 4.1 amperes at 28 VDC at startup and then draws 1.7 amperes at steady state, after the lamps warm up. The total current required to operate the Boom Beam Lighting system is 28.8 amperes less than the existing system and therefore places no burden on the aircraft generating and distribution system. 60W Ballast Kit: The new Boom Beam installation replaces the four existing lamps with a ballast and lamp assembly; a total of four assemblies. Each ballast assembly draws a maximum of 5.9 amperes at 28 VDC at startup and then draws 2.4 amperes at steady state, after the lamps warm up. The total current required to operate the Boom Beam Lighting system is 26.0 amperes less than the existing system and therefore places no burden on the aircraft generating and distribution system.
