It optimises the fuel characteristics in four ways: 1. Cetane number / ignition behaviour 2. Cleaning effect 3. Frothing (Foaming) 4. bacteria/fungus 1. Influence of ignition performance of diesel fuel on the combustion process 1.1. The combustion process in the Diesel Engine is characterised by: development - an ignition lag and - an irregular power raise/ This influences the starting process, noise-(diesel), wear-, consumption-, performanceand exhaust characteristics. mit DK-Additiv 1.2. Causes for an incomplete combustion process The pivotal point of the combustion process is the behaviour of the fuel. This is measured by means of the cetane number. An unsatisfactory ignition behaviour does not only cause the above mentioned problems; an incomplete combustion also causes cooked injection nozzles. A perfect spray pattern from the nozzles is an indispensable precondition for the optimal ignition and combustion performance of the fuel in the combustion chamber. 2. Improvement of the combustion process by DIESEL plus 2.1. Starting points for fuel optimisation As a conclusion from the above, it becomes obvious that a Diesel additive has two jobs: - Improvement of the ignition behaviour (increase of the cetane number) - Cleaning and keeping clean the injection nozzles. -2-

9 2.2. Raising of the cetane number DIESEL plus contains apt. 800 ppm cetane improver, based on a final treatment rate of (1:1000). It raises the cetane number by up to 3 points and leads to an immediate improvement of the ignition behaviour Cleaning and keeping clean of the injection nozzles To achieve an optimal combustion it is indispensable to stick to the manufacturer!s construction scheme in an altered spray pattern. This leads to a longer ignition lag with a corresponding disadvantageous combustion process. It is therefore necessary to avoid these deposits or to reduce them to the level laid down by the manufacturer. To achieve these requirements, DIESEL plus contains apt. 150 ppm detergent, based on a final dosage of (1:1000). 3.Anti-Froth-Additive DIESEL plus contains an effective anti-froth-additive, which stops the "foaming# of the Diesel fuel and facilitates a faster refueling. 4. Anti-Fouling-Additive DIESEL plus furthermore contains an effective biocide, killing bacteria (germs) and fungus, resp. avoids their settling and growth.
