3 R O I L P L A T I N U M F U E L T R E A T M E N T About Roil Platinum Fuel Treatment (Petrol and Diesel) products Roil Platinum Fuel Treatment (Petrol and Diesel) products provide a proprietary blend of synthetic chemicals designed to remove water and dissolve gum, varnish, and artificial residues from the entire fuel system. The presence of water and sediments in the fuel system causes a wide variety of engine performance issues. Fuel Treatment (Petrol and Diesel) products improve the quality of fuel by cleaning the entire fuel system. It dissolves the build-up of varnish and gum at the molecular level and burns it during the combustion process without harming the catalytic converter. 4 Directions for use for Roil Platinum Fuel Treatment (Petrol and Diesel) products Fuel Treatment (Petrol) is suitable for all petrol powered engines and is highly recommended for engines with a catalytic converter or turbo, FSI, and direct-injection systems. For motor vehicles, add 375mL (one can) into the fuel tank. For motorcycles, add 200mL of Fuel Treatment (Petrol). For large (petrol/diesel) trucks, Fuel Treatment should be added in the quantity of one (375mL) can per 80 litres of fuel. Fuel Treatment (Diesel) has been specifically developed for all high-pressure direct-injection diesel engines with common rail or pump injectors. This high-technology product is designed and especially recommended for vehicles with extended service intervals and is suitable for diesel particle filters. As a part of the easy-to-use Roil Platinum system, Fuel Treatment is recommended for use at every oil-change interval along with the other Roil Platinum products. If necessary, additional treatments of Fuel Treatment may be applied as frequently as desired. About Fuel Line Contamination Causes During the course of normal operation, the fuel system of a vehicle is exposed to separate sources of contamination: water and sediments/residues. Water Water may enter the fuel system from several different sources. The number-one source of water in the fuel system is condensation. However, additional avenues through which water can be introduced include rain, washing the vehicle, refuelling, a faulty ventilation system and bad fuel. In addition, many new fuels contain a high alcohol content, which attracts water. The threat posed by water in the fuel system is greater in humid climates. An untreated engine is less efficient Sediments and Residues Contamination, including sediments and residues in the fuel system, may result from any number of causes, including oxidation of the fuel; sediments in the fuel; chemical residues of gum, artificial substances, and varnish; operating conditions of the engine; sulphur content of the fuel; residues from motor oil; combustion residues; and acid combustion substances, such as hydrogen sulphide. Consequences Water in fuel tanks gathers at the lowest point in the fuel system, where the fuel pick-up pump is located. The water in the tank is pumped through the system, resulting in hard starts, pinging, and corrosion in the fuel system. Sediment and residues in fuel systems are gummy and can cause injector needle valves to stick. Open needle valves cause fuel to constantly drip into combustion chambers, resulting in wasted fuel, increased exhaust emissions, and excess build-up on the intake and exhaust valves. In addition, excess fuel will pass the piston rings and enter the oiling system, mixing with oil and reducing its ability to lubricate the engine, causing increased wear and poor performance. Overall, contamination in the fuel system affects a number of important parts, including the tank, fuel supply, inlet pipes, carburettor, injection system, intake manifolds, valves, combustion chamber and piston rings. The results of water and build-up in the fuel system may include poor combustion, low efficiency, performance loss, increased fuel consumption, increased exhaust, engine damage, starting problems, poor idling, poor acceleration and engine failure. 5 FAQ about Roil Platinum Fuel Treatment (Petrol and Diesel) products How soon should Roil Platinum Fuel Treatment, Petrol or Diesel, first be used to clean the engine? We recommend treatment with Fuel Treatment (Petrol and Diesel) products at the time of your vehicle s very first oil change and at every service interval thereafter. Water condensation and contamination are constantly forming in the fuel system, regardless of vehicle make, model or year. Even small quantities of contamination will increase the environmental impact of the vehicle s emissions. How do the Fuel Treatment (Petrol and Diesel) products work to bind water in the fuel? Fuel Treatment contains carbon links created from carbon synthesis that bind or absorb water molecules. The carbon links absorb only as many water molecules as are necessary to ensure complete combustion in the fuel system. What if the fuel tank isn t full when I add the Fuel Treatment? It is not necessary to have a full fuel tank when the Fuel Treatment (Petrol or Diesel) product is applied; however we recommend filling the tank at the same time for optimum results. Otherwise the tank area above the level of petrol will not be cleaned. Is Roil Platinum Fuel Treatment alone enough to clean the fuel system? Fuel Treatment thoroughly deals with potential fuel system issues by addressing both water and sediment contamination. However, for the most effective cleaning, it is important to implement a fullengine clean using the entire Roil Platinum system. Is it necessary to clean the fuel system at the same time an internal engine cleaning is performed? Yes, it is important to clean both the fuel system and the engine s oil and lubrication systems in order to obtain optimal engine performance. If only one system is addressed, contamination and build-up from the other system will continue to affect efficiency. The Roil Platinum system of products is designed to work together to provide your vehicle with optimum cleaning and engine benefits. For example, Engine Flush cleans from the bottom of the engine system to the piston rings, while Fuel Treatment cleans from the top of the system to the piston rings, so the system provides a comprehensive engine cleaning. Why is Roil Platinum Fuel Treatment (Petrol) especially important when using unleaded fuels? Lead is an effective lubricant, and as a result, unleaded fuels have a diminished capacity to lubricate the fuel system. Therefore, the use of unleaded fuel can contribute to increased wear on injection nozzles, cylinders and piston rings; and to noise from the electric fuel pumps, steering pistons, pressure-regulating valves and float valve clips. Fuel Treatment (Petrol) contains effective lubricants that help to prevent these potential problems. Are there any other problems associated with the newer unleaded fuels that contain higher levels of alcohol? Yes. In unleaded fuels, lead has been replaced by alcohol. Relatively higher levels of alcohol in the fuel causes a number of problems, including starting problems, engine pinging and blockages in the fuel system. All of these issues are directly related to alcohol s tendency to attract water and the resulting moisture that develops in the fuel system. About Roil Platinum Engine Flush Roil Platinum Engine Flush Features a proprietary blend of synthetic chemicals designed primarily to address engine build-up. Engine build-up occurs naturally in the operation of engines under normal running conditions, causing a decrease in engine life and performance. Engine Flush cleans both petrol and diesel engines internally by dissolving residues in oil passageways and holding the contamination in solution to be drained away with the oil. Directions for use for Roil Platinum Engine Flush Before each oil change, pour 375mL of Engine Flush into the engine. This quantity of Engine Flush will effectively treat engines with sumps holding up to 6 litres of oil. Engine Flush should not be used with motorcycles that have a wet clutch (lubricated with engine oil); other motorcycles should use 200mL of Engine Flush. Maximum dose of Engine Flush is at a 1:1 ratio. After application, let the engine run at idle for 15 minutes. Then change the oil and filter according to the vehicle manufacturer s recommendations. About Engine Build-up Causes Engine build-up includes sediment, pollution, residues, sticky tar-like sludge and oil cinders that accumulate in the engine. There is no way to avoid engine build-up; it is a natural occurrence resulting from the normal usage of the engine under typical circumstances. However, there are several specific causes of engine build-up Engine Operating Conditions Conditions that may contribute to additional engine build-up include stop-and-go city traffic, numerous short-distance trips, frequent driving on a cold engine, varying heavy loads and high part-load and idling capacity. Modern Engines Advancements in modern engine design may actually contribute to the accumulation of engine buildup. Examples include the use of new materials in engine construction, closed crank-case airing systems, hot combustion containing nitrogen, sulphuric acid combustion products, lean concepts that streamline design and manufacture and overall increased engine performance in the same-sized engine. Heavy Oil Stress When additional stress is placed on the engine s oil, additional engine build-up may occur. For example, this may happen as a result of long intervals between oil changes, high oil temperatures, a small volume capacity for total engine oil, a small oil distribution system, and/or operation at high oil temperatures. Modern Fuel Today s fuel contains an increased concentration of alcohol, which attracts water and contains no lubricating elements. In general, sulphur-free fuels have no lubrication ability. Consequences Engine build-up affects almost all major parts of the engine, including the oil pan, crank case, crank case ventilation system, oil strainer, oil filter, oil passage, oil pump, valves, valve covers, bearings, pistons and piston rings. The consequences of excessive engine build-up are numerous. In addition to general loss of performance, low efficiency, high fuel and oil usage, and increased emissions, these consequences may also include lack of lubrication, poor engine combustion, overheating and engine damage. About Friction and Wear Friction is the force that resists relative motion between two bodies in contact. Because friction is the result of metal parts rubbing against each other, it is a natural occurrence within an internal combustion engine, which relies on moving parts to generate power. Unfortunately, friction creates heat and causes wear to the engine, affecting its performance. Inversely, reducing friction in an internal combustion engine improves engine efficiency and reduces wear. Wear is the removal of material from a solid surface as a result of mechanical action exerted by another solid. Over time, wear causes progressive degradation.
