How and Why do microbes (bugs) get into fuel : Bugs are prolific in earth's atmosphere, carried as spores in air and water, they enter fuel tanks through breather caps and can be acquired while filling tanks. Once in a fuel tank, they feed on the fuel's energy and can reproduce themselves every 6 hours to form large colonies that create: Slime and matting causing filters and injectors to block and Acidic waste product that causes corrosion of fuel system components. Biocides have been universally added diesel to kill bugs. Biocides may kill much of the bug population, but the dead mass forms sludge in the bottom of the tanks. Additionally some bugs do survive and the population quickly regenerates: more biocides are required. This repetitive process increases sludge in tanks, which has to be removed to ensure safe operation of the engine. The remnant fragments pass through the filters to be burnt with the fuel. Filters won't block with slime, injectors stay remarkably cleaner and any microbial activity the fuel tanks is minimized by the De-Bug process.
