4 BKG BlueFlow Pump Technology The complete perspective. The detail in focus. From today s point of view, the gear pump cannot be disregarded in extrusion, if high-quality products shall be produced. Despite the simple and robust design, the displacement pump provides a high degree of precision, accuracy, capacity and pressure build-up with minimal stresses. Whereas, the gear pump maintains a constant volumetric output and the required pressure at the tool, the pressure at the outlet of the extruder can be set to an optimal duty point. To ensure the highest quality of our gear pumps, Nordson manufactures all gear pumps in-house. In case there is a need to remanufacture or perform maintenance, all necessary spare parts are immediately available around the world. 5 Flowing efficiency Synchronizing the extrusion line made easy. By implementing a pump between the extruder and the die, you can influence the thickness of the final product directly and avoid pressure fluctuations and pulsations at the die. Extruder screws melt, mix and convey polymers, but cannot guarantee constant pressure and volume at the die. A gear pump is not designed for melting, or mixing, but a highly efficient instrument to build up pressure and charge the throughput of the polymer exactly. Installing a gear pump gives you additional control over the processes. The production line will become more flexible by: shortening the start-up when processing difficult materials the possibility to process several polymers with the same screw The pump control regulates the loop from the inlet pressure of the pump to the extruder. The MB version allows to discharge the lubrication flow out of the gear pump, and therefore out of the process, giving you the power to control the purging of your process when necessary.
