Numerous national and - above all - international guests paid us a visit at our stand, looking for information about the latest machines and technology as well as new contacts. The bauma 2013 expo can boast wonderful weather and 530,000 visitors. The ATLAS Weyhausen expo stand was very well-frequented, and our dealers and staff were highly satisfied with the outcomes of the event. ATLAS was the only manufacturer to present an entire series of e-generation wheel loaders with enhanced performance, featuring new TD/TCD engines and meeting the requirements of the latest emission standards. As a further attraction, AR 85e and AR 60e wheel loaders with a hydraulic start/stop solution made their debut. After a long winter, the industry now expects a satisfying business year, similar to New German-Korean partnership At the bauma 2013 expo, construction machinery manufacturer ATLAS Weyhausen GmbH from Wildeshausen and the Korean Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. (HHI) signed a cooperation agreement. As a result, beginning in mid-2013, ATLAS Weyhausen will produce compaction rollers ranging from 7.0 to 14.0 tons and tandem rollers with service weights between 2.5 and 3.0 tons for Hyundai. Under the Korean name, these machines will serve to open up the increasingly important markets of the Middle East, Turkey, and Russia. For ATLAS Weyhausen, this means that the existing Hyundai distribution network grants us access to more than 500 dealers in 150 countries. At the same time, Hyundai extends its present range of products to become an all-rounder in the area of construction machinery. Helmut Lorch, CEO of ATLAS Weyhausen, who led the negotiations with the Korean corporation, pointed out that this agreement represented an acknowledgement of our renowned ATLAS technology and enabled us to further accelerate our technological advancement.

As soon as you sit down on the driver s seat, the engine can be started again by simply actuating the joystick, the accelerator or the steering wheel. No need to activate the starter or the battery. A hydraulic pressure accumulator supplies the required energy, and the engine is started via the pump of the work hydraulics. This diesel-powered hydraulic start/ stop function serves a number of purposes: In addition to lowering the fuel consumption, the emission values and the maintenance intervals, it reduces environmental and health hazards. New brand name. New model series. AR 60 and 85e with start/stop function. The new ATLAS wheel loaders, members of our so-called e-generation, vouch for technical excellence, for powerful and reliable machines and for quality made in Germany. The little e stands for (low) emissions, efficiency and evolution. The 2007 bauma expo saw the introduction of a diesel-electric hybrid drive by ATLAS Weyhausen, followed by further research related to the issue in Two prototype projects based on the AR 65 Super and the AR 60 were carried out in cooperation with notable development partners. Further studies confirmed the high long-term potential of this technology, but also revealed that for the short term, the current lack of space-saving and robust energy storage solutions still prevents an economically efficient use in compact construction machines. In order to highlight these features, for the first time ever, we decided to provide the new ATLAS Weyhausen model series with its own unique name: ATLAS weycor. The first syllable refers to the name of the founder of our company and his family, Weyhausen. The second syllable is derived from the English term core. We are convinced that the new wheel loaders will soon be an essential part - the `core`- of every construction site. In this sense, weycor also defines the key competencies of our successful family business: for more than forty years, our passion for construction machinery has been at the core of our production, and we keep putting our heart and soul into our products! This led us to turn our attention to the development of a diesel-hydraulic solution specifically designed for compact wheel loaders and compaction rollers. A patent for this innovation has been filed by ATLAS Weyhausen. Both ATLAS Weyhausen and the partners involved in the research, Linde / Deutz and Bosch Rexroth / Deutz respectively, are convinced that most functions of the electric hybrid can be made available by cleverly integrating and optimizing the diesel engine and the hydraulic system. Thus, hydraulic systems which are of particular relevance in construction machines can bridge the gap on the way to the long-term implementation of a fully functional hybrid concept. This forms the basis of ATLAS Weyhausen s cooperation projects. At present, a boost function is being developed.

AR 75e S, AR 75e T In terms of its exhaust and injection systems, the latest generation of Deutz engines offers advanced technologies and distinguishes itself by its low installation height. The regulation of the engine can reduce the accumulation of sooty particles and NOx to such a degree that all that is necessary is a diesel-oxidation catalyst (DOC). This open system of the DOC requires no further maintenance, which results in everyday advantages to the users, as there is no need for the filters at the exhaust side to be replaced. The turbo-charged in-line 4-cylinder engine TCD 3.6 L4 reaches a maximum engine output of 97 kw (131.9 HP). As a result, the 4-cylinder engine is raised to a performance level previously reached only by engines with a significantly higher cubic capacity. For engine outputs above 56 kw, the TCD 3.6 disposes of a DOC/SCR system (selective catalytic reduction) that ensures the compliance with emission stage IV. This exhaust post-treatment concept is based on a simple layout and entirely maintenance-free. Instead of a DOC, an optional particle filter is available. For engine outputs below 56 kw, the engine is also available without a charge air cooling system. The TCD 4.1 L4 engine is the ideal solution for a maximum of 115 kw (156.4 HP). The powerful common rail injection system and the electronic control unit with its intelligent link to the drive management provide for high output levels in conjunction with a low fuel consumption. It disposes of a modular exhaust post-treatment system. A particle filter (DPF) serves to meet the requirements of EU stage IIIB and US standard EPA Tier 4 interim. The heat management system makes it possible to achieve full regeneration during operation without any losses or limitations in terms of engine output. This process combines charge air restriction and inner-engine optimization with an advanced exhaust post-treatment control in order to ensure a high level of effectiveness of the SCR system and the regeneration of the particle filter under all potential operating conditions. In case an active regeneration involving downtime is ever required, it is indicated on the display and needs to be manually initiated by the driver. In addition to this, the engines we use all stand out due to their compact dimensions and their low engine noise level. Optional powerful auxiliary drives render them extremely flexible and make it easy to adapt them to a variety of different machine requirements. The engines have been consistently designed to meet all current emission standards and to combine impressive engine outputs with economic efficiency while, as always, the name Deutz ensures a high level of quality. For engines below a cubic capacity of 4 liters, an open diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) is used, which has been mounted to the engine as an optional feature. ATLAS Weyhausen s decision to rely on this particular technology rests mainly on the substantial benefits experienced by users on a daily basis, e.g. the fact that there is no need for a particle filter (DPF). In accordance with current laws and standards, the accumulation of sooty particles and NOx can be reduced by intelligent engine control (however, in conjunction with a TCD 2.9 L4 engine, an optional DPF is available). This open DOC system requires no further maintenance and is highly suitable for intermittent operation, which frequently occurs when working with wheel loaders. LHy CONTROL valve The modular design and the operating concept of the new control valve, which was developed in cooperation with our partner Linde, offers entirely new approaches in terms of handling and expandability. The valve has been assembled according to the slicing principle and can be expanded on demand. Customers can choose a hydraulic or electronic pilot control for their wheel loaders. Set force limiting devices on the lowering and tipping side are a standard feature. The LYH control valve will be installed in the models AR 65e to AR 85e. An optional high-flow version is available via the hydraulic adjusting pump MPR50, which offers a flow rate of up to 100 liters/minute. CAB Type 31 With its new interior cab design, cab type 31 will also be introduced with the new 2014 series. The steering wheel can now be set to an angle of up to 40 degrees and its height adjusted by 80 mm. All essential displays and symbols have been re-engineered and laid out ergonomically. The most important functions have been consolidated and integrated into a new multi-functional arm rest. The interior lining has been equipped with a fresh design, and a number of other features, such as a cooling box for beverages, serve to ensure that drivers feel even more comfortable when working with our machines.

ATLAS weycor takes off and, in addition to our technical innovations, we also celebrate a visual debut at the bauma 2013 expo: For the first time ever, our company presents our new brand ATLAS weycor and our new corporate design. The latter serves as a visual expression of ATLAS Weyhausen`s commitment to continuous development, progress and advancement and its image as a state-of-the-art business. The re-launch of our internet portal complements our consistent brand identity. The unanimously positive feedback of our customers encourages us to pursue this path a recent example is our Facebook profile, which has been active since June 2013.
