10 3.8 Kubota's new Interim Tier-4 engine is ready for the strict environmental regulations and designed to provide better durability, quiet operation, and fuel efficiency. - CRS (Common Rail System) It provides precise timing control of fuel injections and intervals. As a result, the engine runs more smoothly with less fuel, helping to lower operating costs. - After-treatment Device (DPF + DOC) A Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is a device that physically captures particulate matter (PM) on filters. In a process called 'Regeneration', the accumulated PM is burnt off by the exhaust gas passing through the filters, which has a high enough temperature to combust. If the temperature of the exhaust gases are not sufficiently high, PM will not combust on its own, requiring instead the help of a heat-generated source through the use of a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC). KUBOTA INTERIM TIER-4 ENGINE - Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) The EGR system recirculates a portion of exhaust gas back to the cylinder. The returned exhaust gas contains less oxygen thereby lowering the combustion temperature and reducing harmful mono-nitrogen oxides (NOx).
