10 Modularity The M6 is completely modular, this means that each and everyone of its modules can be reposition or replaced. Modularity means the M6 can be configured to user needs and taste. Aside from configuring the console, modularity has an enormous advantage for rental owner. When a console on a tour receive some damages, shipping modules overnight is far simpler and economical. 11 Modules for M6 In addition to the standard modules delivered with the M6, additional modules can be purchased. There are two types of modules. Top modules that fit inside the M6 frame or external modules to connect on one of the wing ports. 14 M6 accessories side mount Each side of the M6 is equipped with three ¼ -20 threaded mounting holes. This thread is standard among camera grip equipment, many different accessories can be found to fit there. 15 M1 A few words on centralized processing M2GO M6 M-PC M2PC Over a decade ago, distributed processing was needed for complex lighting systems due to the lack of processing CPU power. Nowadays we can easily process 32,000 channels plus from a single multithreaded processor. This is what the M-Series modern approach is doing. All processing, timing and synchronization comes from a single place. All other consoles or device on the network are simply remote control of this central point but also contain the entire show data. Adding a backup solution to the M-Series system is very simple, simply use another console or an M-PC up to 64. Centralized processing lower the cost per universes drastically while simplifying the network system. 7/4/2015 M6 15

17 M6 - A different sales model With the M6 introduction comes a new sales model for lighting controllers. This new model allows the M6 to be sold at different prices based on the user needs. Under normal sales model we would sell the M6 at a single high price like it is done by every manufacturer. But we have decided to break this price down in five parts. i.e.: the initial hardware cost and four levels of DMX output. 7/4/2015 M6 17

18 How it works The M6 comes standard with 8 universes When a rental house or end-user buys the M6, they can choose to have only 8 universe output or they can purchase an additional pack to increase the universes by +8, +16, +32 and +60 for a maximum of 64 universes. 7/4/2015 M6 18

29 FAQ Q: Are the M6 shows compatible with other M-Series consoles? A: Yes, all shows can be interchanged between any M-Series consoles and M-PC. Q: When ordering the M6, does the additional universes pack have to be ordered at the same time? A: No, the additional universes pack can be ordered later. Q: Does the initial 8 universe pack are cumulative to the additional license pack? A: yes, example, a user has 8 universes and buy an 8 pack, he now has 16 universes. If later he buys a 32 pack he will have 48 universes. The maximum being 64. Q: Does the Ether2DMX8 unlock universes on the M6? A: No, the Ether2DMX8 does not unlock universes on the M6. Following the new sales model, only M6 Universes pack can open more universes on M6. But there are some very good technical reason we decided this way. Distributed licensing over several hardware boxes can cause other undesirable issues. The Ether2DMX8 still unlock universes on M1, M2GO, M2PC, M-PC. Q: Can the M6 license be installed on an external One-Key? A: Yes, the license can be on a External Key and will activate the extra universes when ever connected to an M6. Q: Does M6 come with a free visualizer? A: Yes, the M6 comes with a full year MSD Gold license on a dedicated One-Key to allow LD to design on their own PC without having access to the M6. 7/4/2015 M6 29
