Twenty Four Years Keep Connected Our meetings are held the 3 rd Thursday of each month at O Charleys on Hixson Pike. Dinner at 6 pm and the meeting starts at 7 pm. Visitors are always welcome. Come and see what we are all about. With 130 members we are one of the largest Corvette Clubs in southeast Tennessee. What do our members enjoy? Organized road trips to the Corvette Museum, Maggie Valley, Gatlinburg, State Parks, etc. Cruises on scenic roads, including the annual spring and fall weekend trips. Participation in local events like cruise-ins, cook-outs, the annual club picnic, local parades, homecomings and other community activities. Friday night lights, an informal gathering on Friday evenings, at a different restaurant each week to kick off the weekend. The club has fund raisers throughout the year and donates the money to local charities. Giving back to the community is a high priority with the club. BUT MOST OF ALL FUN!!!

From The President s Desk It's been a pleasure to serve as our President. Thanks to all for making the last 2 years full of memories I'll treasure for a lifetime. From my home to yours...may you all have a Very Merry Christmas and a Wonderful & Prosperous New Year! Robin Peterson

Christmas Party We had our annual Christmas Party on December 5 th. Everyone had a ton of fun! We had a Dirty Santa game that broke a few hearts and lots of fun dancing. We also thanked our outgoing officers and welcomed in new officers.

Our New Officers are: President Vice-President Secretary Treasurer Membership Chairman Board Members Ron Kellogg Bob Seiter Anna Lane Robin Peterson Jerry Ray Sheila Martin Ron Hasting Guy Morgan Jerry Davis

The history of the iconic second generation (C2) Corvette Sting Ray, often referred to as the midyear Corvettes. The C2 model years ran from 1963 through The 1963 Corvette saw the first-ever Corvette coupe, with a divided rear window or as commonly known among the Corvette community as the split window coupe. Another new feature was hidden headlamps and faux vents located in the hood and on the coupe's rear pillars. The Sting Ray's interior included a new interpretation of the twin-cowl Corvette dash with improvements such of a roomy glove box, an improved heater, and the cowl-ventilation system. A full set of round gauges included a huge speedometer and tachometer. The control tower center console returned, somewhat slimmer but now containing the clock and a vertically situated radio and improved luggage space. Equipment installations for 1963 included the power brake, power steering, air conditioning; leather upholstery, cast aluminum knock-off wheels, and an optional electronic ignition. In 1964 only evolutionary changes were made to the Corvette. Elimination of the coupe's backbone window and two simulated air intakes from the hood, though their indentations remained. The decorative air-exhaust vent on the coupe's rear pillar was made functional on the left side. The car's rocker-panel trim lost some of its ribs and gained black paint between those ribs; wheel covers were simplified; and the fuel filler/deck emblem gained concentric

circles around its crossed-flags insignia. Inside, the original color-keyed steering wheel rim was replaced with simulated walnut. The 1965 Corvette Sting Ray, arguably the most coveted of the midyear Sting Rays, incorporated a smoothed-out hood devoid of scoop indentations, a trio of working vertical exhaust vents in the front fenders, four wheel disc brakes, restyled wheel covers and rocker-panel moldings, minor interior trim revisions and a mid-year debut of a 396 cid 425 hp bigblock V-8. Options included a side exhaust system, a telescopic steering wheel and alloy spinner rims. In 1966 the Corvette Sting Ray big-block V-8 came in two forms: 396 cid and 427 cid. The frontal appearance was mildly altered with an egg crate grille insert to replace the previous horizontal bars, and the coupe lost its roof-mounted extractor vents, which had proven inefficient. The most noticeable change was the Sting Ray emblem added to the front right corner of the hood. Head rests were a new option. The 1967 Corvette Sting Ray was the last C2 Corvette, and five years of refinements made it the best of the line. Although 1967 was meant to be a redesign year, its intended successor the C3 was found to have some undesirable aerodynamic traits and required more time in the wind tunnel.

The 1967 model year had modest changes: Five smaller front fender vents replaced the three larger ones, and flat-finish rockers sans ribbing conferred a lower, less chunky appearance. New was a single backup light, mounted above the license plate. The previous models' wheel covers gave way to slotted six-inch Rally wheels with chrome beauty rings and lug nuts concealed behind chrome caps. Interior alterations were modest and included revised upholstery, and the handbrake moved from beneath the dash to between the seats. The convertible's optional hardtop was offered with a black vinyl cover, which was a fad among all cars at the time. The 427 was available with a Holley triple two-barrel carburetor arrangement, which the factory called Tri-Power. The ultimate Corvette engine for 1967 was coded L88, even wilder than the L89, and was as close to a pure racing engine as Chevy had ever offered in regular production. The very high compression ratio required 103-octane racing fuel, which was available only at select service stations.

Production Notes (as shown in Wikipedia) Year Production Base Price Notes ,513 $4,037 New coupe body style introduced (only year for split rear window), coupe more expensive than convertible ,229 $4,037 Rear window of coupe changed to single pane; hood louvers deleted ,562 $4, in 3 Big-Block V8 added; side-discharge exhaust introduced ,720 $4, in Big-Block V8 with unique bulging hood 327ci 300-horsepower small block V8 standard ,940 $4,240 Five-louver fenders are unique; Big-Block hood bulge redesigned as a scoop; parking brake changed handle to lever mounted in center console; Solid lifter tri-power 427 would become most sought after Corvette ever. Last year of fuel injection until Total 117,964

Club Trip to BuyAVette Several Club members took a recent cruise to BuyAVette in Atlant to check out their amazing inventory of Corvettes. The BuyAVette staff met us as we arrived and treated us to donuts and drinks before showing us their facility.

BuyAVette (Cont.) The highlight of the visit was when they pulled three C2 s outside and tossed the keys to the Club. Larry Harless, Brian Williams, Tim Nutz, Bob Seiter, and Ron Kellogg all took turns behind the wheel and in the passenger seat in the beautiful cars. Of course Ron and Larry were sold on the cars and proceeded to work out deals on their favorites!

BuyAVette (Cont.) After the visit we all went to the Downwind Restaurant at the Peachtree DeKalb Airport. We had a great lunch overlooking the runways of the PDK airport.

We said goodbye to two club Corvettes. And said hello to two new ones!!

Ron Kellogg and Larry Harless both bought a shiny new C2 Corvette. Ron s is a white Larry s is a red Both are manual transmissions and convertibles. (I know two guys who can t wait for summertime!)

East Ridge Christmas Parade Jerry Ray reported River City Corvette Club is in Section C, number 39 for the East Ridge Christmas parade which will line up on Germantown Road. No candy is allowed at the East Ridge parade. November & December Birthdays President Robin Peterson recognized the club members celebrating a birthday in November as well as December since the Christmas Party takes the place of the general meeting for December. Members celebrating a birthday in November are: Janet Arthur, Donna Basford, Tim Caldwell, David Mahoney, Jackie Miller, Alice Norton, Linda Ostrom, Terry Phillips, Ginger Seiter and Linda Tonya. Members celebrating a birthday in December are: Jim Baker, Stanley Dempsey, Norma Harless, Cathy Johnston, Ron Kellogg, Betty Morgan, Nancy Price, Norma Ross and Lori Roth. Happy Birthday from the River City Corvette Club! RCCC Christmas Party The Christmas Party is scheduled for December 5, 2014 at the Bessie Smith Hall from 6:00-10:00. Robin encouraged club members who plan to attend but have not yet paid to do so at tonight s meeting. Robin stated the cost for attending the party is $25 per person/$50 per couple. There will be a cocktail hour (BYOB) from 6:00-7:00 with dinner at 7:00. Those who wish to participate in the Dirty Santa game should bring a wrapped gift. Officers will also be installed at the meeting. Music will be provided by the same company who provides music for our car shows. This event is one of the highlights of the year and you will not want to miss out.

Club Shirts Robin reported the shirt order is in and she will bag up the orders and haul them around to upcoming events to distribute to those who ordered club shirts. Charity Funds Robin is in process of coordinating delivery of checks to our 2014 charities in an effort to have funds distributed by Christmas. Once plans are finalized, Robin will send an to members in case they want to participate in the delivery of checks. Originally all the funds from entries for the Corvette bed and dresser were earmarked for The Chattanooga Food bank while funds from other endeavors were to be divided between the other three charities (Susan G. Komen, Teen Challenge, and Chris DeRogatis). Since the amount collected for the Corvette bed and dresser fell below expectations and the fact we raised more money from other endeavors Robin made a motion to the Board to combine all the funds and divide the charity money between all four charities. The Board unanimously agreed to this approach. Robin announced the Corvette bed and dresser will be drawn for at Dairy Queen on December 1st.The drawing will be recorded and posted on the club s website. Car Show Committee for 2015 Robin reported the 2015 Car Show Committee has been formed. Robin and Ron Kellogg will serve as co-chairs and members include Al Cerasi, Jerry Davis, Judy Davis, Marsha Doebler, Anna Lane, Gary Martin, Bob Seiter and Brian Williams. The committee will make regular reports to the Board with the first update to be reported at the January 2015 Board meeting. Robin reported the show will take place in a new venue. River City Corvette Club will be partnering with the City of East Ridge and as part of this partnership the show will be held at Camp Jordan Arena free of charge (usually this costs $1,500/day). Robin reported approximately 70 cars will fit inside the arena and another will fit under a tent outside the arena. In return RCCC will designate the East Ridge Needy Child Fund as one of our 2015 charities. East Ridge will also do advertising for the show which will surely raise participation. A contract is being finalized detailing the agreement between RCCC and the City of East Ridge.

Gary Martin stated it is important to make this show a success and he would like all club members to be personally encouraged to participate. Robin stated the car show committee can discuss this and possibly divide the list of members for car show committee members to reach out to all members including those who are less active in club activities. Gary stated he is also talking with boat and motorcycle people to gauge their interest in participating. Robin stated one question the East Ridge Council asked is if the club is a registered 5013c organization. Currently the club is recognized as a Tennessee non-profit organization however Robin proposed and board members agreed the club should move forward with filing for the 5013c designation. This is a lengthy process that can take up to one year for approval. Once we are designated as a 5013c organization the club will be tax exempt and members can claim the yearly dues their taxes. Thank You Notes Robin shared thank you notes the club received on behalf of club members and area high schools. Outgoing President Comments This is the Robin s last general meeting as President of RCCC. She acknowledged the work of the Board over the last two years and thanked everyone who helped/volunteered in any way to make RCCC the success it is. 50/50 Drawing A total of $110 was collected for the 50/50 drawing with $55 to the winner; Lynn Roach.
