Material Plastic bins SULO offers bin systems in the material groups steel and plastic. SULO makes plastic bins with high-density polyethylene (HDPE) using injection moulding. SULO bins are corrosion-resistant. Unsurpassed in practice Among plastics, HDPE belongs to the group of thermoplastics. As the name says, every thermoplastic can be reshaped by melting it. SULO uses this material property and combines it with environmental thinking. The raw material used for the manufacture of bins are plastic granules, which are processed using injection moulding. Plastic granulate is usually prepared on the basis of crude oil, which is considered to be suboptimal in terms of the environment. Cycle A recycled HDPE Two factors are key in determining the recyclability of bins. Beyond the expertise on the part of the processor, the availability of recycling-compatible materials is also central to this task. Whereas in the past bins were primarily intended for waste disposal purposes, today they more typically serve for separated collec-tion of materials with the aim of recycling them. It is not a stretch to consider that decommissioned or defective bins should also be compatible with recycling and not themselves contribute to pollution. The bins are manufactured from a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) with a specific MFI value (flow index). That means that not every type of HDPE is suitable for bin production. Old bins produced from HDPE do however fit the bill. The benefit of bin recycling is that the raw materials are absolutely homogenous, delivering raw materials of a constant, reproducible quality. This type of recycling circuit, in which the recycled product is used to produce the same product, is considered to be the highest achievement from an environmental viewpoint and is known as a closed loop. Different colour additives in plastics behave in different ways. For this reason SULO is somewhat limited in its choice of colours for recycled bins. On account of the composition of the colour pigments, dark bins allow for a greater range of recycling than lighter bins do. SULO is working constantly with independent institutes and the manufacturers of the colour additives to raise the recycling rate further. The large volume and related high share of plastic makes the recycling of used bins very environmentally friendly. Plastic technology is a relatively new material technology. It has only been known for a few decades, and the development potential is nowhere near exhausted. Until a few years ago, the manufacture of bins was only possible with fossil fuel-based raw materials. An increasing awareness of the sustainable use of resources resulted in an investment in the research of biological plastics. Sugar cane was found to be an ideal source of ethanol. This replaces crude oil as the base material and is processed into HDPE. Not every type of HDPE is suitable for the manufacture of refuse bins. Extensive development processes and material tests were required to find the ideal biologically-based material. The GreenMade HDPE type selected by SULO has exactly the same technical properties as fossil fuel-based HDPE. The bins made of this material, which are ready for series production, were subjected to the strict testing procedures of RAL GZ 951 and EN 840. No deviations in quality were ascertained when compared to petroleum-based bins. All GreenMade bins correspond to RAL and EN norms in every aspect the SULO quality you are accustomed to. By creating the GreenMade series, SULO is investing in the conservation of fossil resources. SULO has always played the role of the pioneer. 7 Colouring The idea of an ecological city Sugar cane farming With GreenMade bins, SULO is providing an opportunity to use environmentally friendly products in the field of disposal. While existing vehicles must be retrofitted to run on alternative fuels, you can reduce the use of fossil raw materials immediately by using GreenMade bins. You determine how environmentally conscious the disposal in your region is. The recycling idea was the start of a new environ-mental awareness. Green ethanol Brazil devotes 1% of its farmable land to the production of ethanol. This led to a reduction in the national consumption of mineral oil by 50 percent. Bin colours Colouring of Plastics While many materials can only be varnished or coated, plastics make it possible to colour the entire material. 9 2Rad MGB-Systeme Return and recycling The collection of recyclables is committed to the principle of sustainability. It is only logical to recycle old bins and to use the ob-tained plastic again in bin production. Already in 20??, SULO was the first provider in Germany to close the material cycle in this manner, making a significant contribution to further improving the environmental balance. In 1972, SULO developed the first MGB and applied for the patent. At that time, it had a capacity of 220 litres, but was nearly identi-cal in appearance to today s MGB with 240 litres. It was not only a proud moment for the MGB, but also for the current form of refuse disposal. Over the last 40 years, SULO engineers have been continuously striving to further develop this system. Today, just the assortment of 2-wheeled MGB products encompasses nine different bin sizes. In addition, SULO has consistently made efforts to expand the 2-wheeled product line. The material formulas were improved, which created bins that were more flexible and at the same time more stable; their stacking design and therefore shipping options were optimised, the bins became lighter and therefore easier to handle, and a broad range of accessories have made the MGB an all-round talent. 18 SYSTEM B 35 MFB Systems MGB 240L With the increasing use of side-loader vehicles and grabber vehicles, SULO has developed the MFB. The round design of the MFB body enables easy pick-up by the refuse vehicle, even if it is not positioned exactly with its front edge towards the street. In addition, the MFB is designed with the circle segment lifting system and is therefore compatible with all vehicles. There are also two chip nests positioned on the underside of the comb, one on the left as with the MGB and one in the middle. This multi-functionality was the reason for its name: MFB = multifunction bin. The lid of the MFB is very similar to that of the EURO2 lid for the MGB. The lid accentuates the round design of the body, which gives the bin a modern and appealing appearance. The lid of the MFB can also be equipped with the Switch nclip system (KENNSCHILD). Every MFB has a large foot pedal on the back side for easy handling. The MFB is available in all the most popular bin sizes: 120 litres, 140 litres, and 240 litres. Due to the rear lid, the bin can be opened easily for throwing away day-to-day waste and is still positioned properly for transport. The bin can be easily rolled without having to lift it into the correct position using the emptying comb with your fingertips. Injuries can thus be prevented and the ergonomics according to the requirements of European labour laws and standards are ensured. The organic technology built into the lid reduces odours. Fungus growth is inhibited, preventing the discharge of spores that are hazardous to health. Round slot without rubber rosette (Ø 150 mm) The lid closes perfectly due to its elastic double seal. Gases that could attract pests can not escape. The design prevents the entry of vermin. The filter can be changed easily using a bayonet lock. The filter material is made of a natural substrate based on coconut fibres which is seeded with specially adapted mi-cro-organisms. The lid-opening noise reduction for the 2-wheel bins is a solid lid element which is not available as a retrofit option. SAFETY SLOT for documents Safety paper slot, short With MGB 340 and MGB 360, lid-opening noise reduction is achieved by inserting four rubber U-profiles directly under the hinges on the back wall of the body. Safety paper slot, 1x long NOISE REDUCTION for lid closing Domes into which a stopper is screwed are injection-moulded onto the underside of the lid. The stopper dampens the noise when the lid hits the bin body. PARTITION WALL for two categories of waste with 50/50 separation The PARTITION WALL is an option which was designed for horizontal installation in the MGB 240. The collection by means of MEKAM vehicles is required in order to use the 2-in-1 bin system, which supports the horizontal separation of categories. OPENING SYSTEM for the lid Without having to touch it, the lid opens easily with a light kick. The lifting rod is located outside of the bin so that waste residue can not get caught in it.

So-called ventilation screens are attached at various bin positions and can be combined with one another. TRIANGULAR LOCK with or without open position A triangular lock is an assembly of various elements. Triangular locks are generally differentiated into locks with or without an open position. VENTILATION for the lid Lid ventilation is a very simple and effective way to improve the supply of air in the bin. Ventilation stoppers are inserted into domes on the underside of the lid. They let the bin lid stay slightly open, allowing the air to circulate. Without open position When triangular locks without an open position are opened and the bin lid is then closed again, the lock will engage automatically, so that the bin is completely closed. AFNOR Comb lifting system In contrast to the DIN comb strip, the AFNOR comb lifting system consists of only one edge (not 2-stepped) and has no struts connecting to the body to simplify lifting. With open position A triangular lock with an open position offers the advantage that the lock if it is opened using a triangular key does not automatically engage and thus lock. When a bin is open and the lid is then closed, the lid can be opened as often as desired. The bin is locked again only after the key is used. AFNOR Locking bar CLOSURE for padlocks Here, a flat steel bar with a hole is mounted on the bin body. As a counterpart, a slot is milled into the cover. The padlock can be hooked through and locked. The flat steel bar goes through the slit on the lid. In this way, the padlock can be hooked through the hole in the flat steel bar. 54

28 Bin accessories 2R MGB MFB LOCKING SYSTEMS CYLINDER LOCK with automatic function Cylinder locks that have an automatic function can be recognised by the red colour. The required gravity box is mounted inside the body. It causes the bin to open automatically when it is tipped more than 90, i.e. during emptying, allowing the bin contents to be emptied. All SULO cylinder locks are also available with triangular cylinders. CYLINDER LOCK with automatic function for MGB with standard lid This standard cylinder lock with an automatic function is designed for the standard lid of the MGB. The bin can be locked either with a combination lock function with 225 combinations of numbers and letters, or with a key. The codes can be easily changed without further aids.
