2 Product information General remarks DELTA BLOC offers four transition constructions meeting the requirements of ENV These were developed according to most recent scientific findings and as state-of-theart. They are used for connecting to the steel barrier systems EDSP, SuperRail, Fracasso 4Safe 3N32312 and for the 90 Step In-Situ system. All meet the high requirements of the restraint level H2. The most important criteria for the application of the DB SafeLink series are: High restraint level (H2) Low working width (W3 - W4) Short system lengths of the individual DB SafeLink systems High efficiency due to low maintenance costs Simply and quick installations Versatility The transition constructions of the DB Safe- Link series can be used anywhere where a safe and secure transition from a DELTA BLOC chain to a steel or in-situ concrete system is required, e.g.: System transitions on road verges of motorways, expressways and country roads System transitions in central reservations of motorways or motorway-like roadways System transitions before or after a bridge etc. Examples Overview of characteristics DB SafeLink Element Containment level Working width EDSP H2 W3 C In-Situ 90 Step H2 W4 C SuperRail H2 W4 C 4Safe H2 W4 B Proven system The tested transition constructions of the DB SafeLink series have proven themselves over the past years in many fields. Numerous transitions of DELTA BLOC chains to steel or in-situ concrete crash barriers were implemented with containment level H2 using the DB Safelink transition construction. These characteristics make it special: a high degree of restraint safety in conjunction with a low working width (H2/W3) short total length (<19m) simple and quick system installation installation on a compacted gravel bed The DB SafeLink EDSP can be set up on the verge or on the central reservation of motorways and dual carriageways. It ideally connects EDSP systems with permanent safety installations of the DELTA BLOC product family. Because of the compact design and the fact that it does not require concrete foundations, it can be installed quickly and flexibly. These characteristics are special: little space requirements on the verge and in the central reservation because of the symmetrical design connection to the DB 100S with A at containment level H2 for maximum car passenger safety simple and quick installation The transition construction tested as per ENV was primarily designed for securing the cross-over points of central reservations of motorways. Because of the symmetrical design single-rowed or double-rowed application is possible to provide an optimum protection in the case of a crash. In conjunction with the DB 100S central reservations can be secured uncompromisingly: An value of A for containment level H2 provides maximum safety for car passengers in case of an accident. It features the following extraordinary properties: high restraint safety and at the same time a low working width (H2/W4) very small total length (<15m) simple and quick installation of the system installation on compacted gravel The DB SafeLink SuperRail can be both installed on the verge and in the central reservation of motorways and dual carriageways. The tested transition flexibly connects Super- Rail systems with the permanent safety barriers of the DELTA BLOC product family. For the installation merely a compacted gravel bed is required, so that the DB SafeLink SuperRail can be quickly and easily mounted. 7 Product information Crash tests The requirements for vehicle restraint systems are precisely defined in EN All DB SafeLink systems have been successfully tested for containment level H2. Endurance test TB 51 The crash test TB 51 is carried out according to EN 1317 with a bus with a total weight of 13t at an angle of 20 and a speed of 70km/h. Passenger car test TB 11 In order to assess the strain on car passengers, a further crash test TB 11 is carried out according to EN 1317 with a passenger car of 900kg. Test results No dangerously high strains on car passengers No breakthrough through the chain The test vehicle was redirected onto the lane as required The shifting of the elements catches the bus and diverts it back H2 test TB 51 (13t bus, 70km/h, 20 angle), DB SafeLink SuperRail The systems DB SafeLink EDSP, DB SafeLink In-Situ 90 Step, DB SafeLink SuperRail and DB SafeLink 4Safe were tested on the containment level H2 by certified testing institutions.
