5 MANUAL DRAIN Manual drains are the simplest bowl drains, but they require frequent attention to rid the bowl of accumulated water and dirt particles. If a fi lter is located where it is diffi cult to access, it might not be drained as often as it should be. For this reason, and to save a lot of maintenance manpower, automatic drains are the standard equipment and provide a cost effective way to maximize fi lter performance and reduce maintenance. Tube-Away kits supply tubing for fi lters with automatic drains to carry water and dirt to a suitable drainage outlet. BOWL DRAINS automatic drain to expel accumulated liquid. The drain activates whenever the air supply is shut down and exhausted. An adjusting knob at the bottom of the fi lter on all products (exxcept sentry and miniature series) can be set for sensitivity Upper Drain Piston Lifts Drain valve Disengaging Seal Drain Valve PSIG 98 PSIG Lower Drain Piston External drains for fi lters are used for use wherever severe condensate problems exist. They operate automatically whenever liquid in the bowl raises the fl oat activating the drain. Seal Manual Drain and Adjusting Knob Screen Drain Cock Filter Sump Area INTERNAL AUTOMATIC DRAIN INTERNAL FLOAT DRAIN Manual draining is often inconvenient, and overlooked. Manual drains require frequent attention to rid the bowl of accumulated water and dirt particles. If a fi lter is located where it is diffi cult to access, it might not be drained as often as it should be. Automatic drains are standard on M/P Filters (D option), and we strongly recommend their use to improve filter effectiveness, lengthen service life, and reduce maintenance needs. The automatic drain operates when liquids have accumulated in the fi lter bowl and a presure drop of (. ) or more occurs (e.g., when a valve or other device downstream is actuated). The pressure drop triggers the Model Shown: E- HYDRO-JECTOR EXTERNAL DRAINS HYDRO-JECTOR drains are for use with the SERIES 8 and VANGUARD fi l ters wher ev er severe condensate prob lems ex ist. They can also be used to drain water sep a ra tors, drip legs, and com pres sor re ceiv er tanks. They op er ate with con tin u ous, in ter mit tent, or no air fl ow, and drain only when liquids are present. Discharge rate is gallons (5 liters) per hour at g (6.9 ). Two allen-head bolts quickly tighten or loosen the clamp using a 5/ or mm hex key. The clamp contains a plate car ry ing two O-rings to pro vide positive sealing between mod ules. Or der clamp by part number A8-5. Combined clamp and bracket (be low) can be ordered by part num ber A8-5M. MOUNTING BRACKET Two brackets are normally used to mount an FRL to a vertical surface. The mount ing brack et at tach es to the mod ule-con nect ing clamp (see above) with a sin gle screw.
