1 COBB Tuning MAZDASPEED6 SF Intake System Install Instructions Congratulations on your purchase of the COBB Tuning SF Intake System. The following instructions will assist you through your installation process. Please read them first BEFORE beginning the install and familiarize yourself with the steps and tools needed. If you feel that you cannot properly perform this installation, we HIGHLY recommend you take the vehicle to a qualified and experienced automotive technician. 2 Removal of Stock Intake System 1. Remove the battery box cover and disconnect the negative battery terminal. 2. Remove the engine/intercooler cover by removing the two 10m bolts. With the bolts removed, you should be able to lift the front of the cover and slide it back to release it from the rear mounting tab.

3 3. The next step is to remove the entire air box assembly. Start by disconnecting the MAF sensor by depressing the tab in the center of the connector. Also, be sure to release the wire from its retainer on the lid. 4. Now loosen the 10mm bolt on the clamp that secures the intake tube to the turbo inlet tube.

4 5. Next, using a pair of needle nose pliers, move back the spring clip holding the 90-degree plastic elbow to the intake tube and remove the elbow from the intake tube. Set the clamp and 90-degree elbow aside, as they will be reused with the COBB SF Intake. 6. The air box assembly is now ready to be removed. Start by pulling the rubber accordion tube off of the plastic turbo inlet tube. By pulling directly upwards on the air box, you should be able to release the air box from the rubber grommets that hold the bottom in place. 7. With the air box out of the car, it is now time to remove the MAF sensor from the air box. To remove the sensor from the stock housing, remove the two Philips-head screws and pull the sensor up and out. Be very careful with the sensor as it is sensitive and easily damaged. Set the MAF sensor aside to be used with the SF Intake.

5 Installation of COBB Tuning SF Intake System 1. Take the smaller of the two provided hose clamps and place it over the smaller side of the COBB silicone. Slide it over the plastic turbo inlet (do not completely tighten to allow rotation) and connect the 90-degree plastic elbow, reusing the factory clamp. 2. Remove the two 12mm bolts in the factory air box mounting bracket remove the bracket. Reuse one of the bolts to loosely reinstall the new COBB bracket into the rear of the two holes.

6 3. Place the large hose clamp on the COBB silicone and then insert the COBB MAF housing into the silicone with the MAF sensor opening facing up. NOTE: Filter shown already attached. 4. Attach the MAF housing to the bracket using the two bottom holes in the MAF housing. Attachment sequence is right to left: bolt head, flat washer, MAF housing, mounting bracket, flat washer, lock washer, then nut. Tighten using a 10mm socket and wrench. Tighten the two hose clamps and the 12mm bolt holding the bracket to the chassis.

7 5. Place the OEM MAF sensor into the MAF housing with the electrical connector facing the rear of the car. Attach the MAF sensor to the housing using the two supplied Allen-head bolts and a 3mm Allen wrench. 6. Place the supplied air filter onto the end of the MAF housing and tighten using an 8mm nut driver/socket, or a flat-head screwdriver. Torque the hose clamp to 30 in-lbs.

8 7. Reinstall the engine/intercooler cover. 8. Go back through all of the intake system and tighten any of the bolts, nuts, or clamps. Make sure everything is tight. 9. Reattach negative battery terminal. 10. Enjoy your new COBB SF Intake System!
