2 INTRODUCTION The ProFlow 1K Volumetric Pump is a high precision, rotating, positive displacement pump. It dispenses high precision beads or dots of almost any chemistry or viscosity. The pump contains a stainless steel rotor and an elastomeric seal (stator). The ProFlow uses the principal of the endless piston, and is a progressive cavity pump that provides pulse-free, drip free dispensing. Reverse operation of the pump will cause suck back or snuff back which gives excellent shut off. There are three sizes of the ProFlow 1K available: ProFlow 1K-03, ProFlow 1K-05, ProFlow 1K-15. This manual applies to all three sizes and the function and construction for all three sizes are the same. Step 1 ProFlow 1K Setup Use the mounting holes to install the Proflow into the workcell. Attach the material fluid supply line to the related fluid inlet.

Make sure the fluid fitting is tight and does not leak. Attach the motor cable and make sure the routing of the cable is correct. Step 2 How to Purge the ProFlow 1K Make sure the pump is correctly installed and the material pressure is set as necessary. When the material dispenses without any air, decrease the system pressure to 0 psi. Turn the bleed port counterclockwise to remove it.

5 Step 4 Bleed the Valve Make sure there is a purge cup under the bleed port line. Increase the fluid air pressure to 3-4 psi. Wait for material to dispense. The material should dispense without any bubbles or breaks in the flow of the material. When the material dispenses without any air, decrease the system pressure to 0 psi. Turn the bleed port counterclockwise to remove it. Use a hex key to install the bleed port screw. Turn the screw clockwise until it is tight. Clean all material from the material hose and the bleed port. Both components can be used again support.pva.net Page 5 of 18

6 Step 5 How to Install the Needle on a ProFlow 1K Make sure there is a purge cup under the pump. Push the needle up and hold it on. Use the purge function on the teach pendant or the operator interface to dispense material. When the needle fills with material, pull the needle down so there is a small gap between the luer adaptor and the needle. This will release any trapped air from the top, then push the needle up attach it support.pva.net Page 6 of 18

If the needle drips after the material stops dispensing, there may still be air in the needle.

7 Step 6 Turn the needle clockwise so it is fully installed. Use the purge function to continue to dispense material from the needle and then stop. If the needle drips after the material stops dispensing, there may still be air in the needle. Use the purge function again and repeat the above procedure as necessary. Step 7 How to Shutdown the ProFlow 1K Turn the needle counterclockwise and pull down to remove the needle from the luer adapter. Purge material through the luer adapter.

The sections may stick. Align the stator tool with the rotor housing end and turn the stator tool counterclockwise to remove the stator. 12 Step 12 When the threads are no longer engaged, continue to turn the stator by hand until stator is completely disengaged. Pull the stator off of the end of the rotor. Use a hex key to remove the four rotor housing bolts support.pva.net Page 12 of 18

13 Step 13 Pull the rotor housing so it separates from the other sections. The sections have alignment pins in them and it may be necessary to move the sections from side to side to disengage the sections. Pull the stator housing block so that it separates from the other sections. Clean all of the stainless steel parts from the fluid section. Make sure the O-rings in the rotor housing and the stator block are not damaged. Use a hook and pick set to remove them and clean out any additional material if necessary support.pva.net Page 13 of 18

Step 14 How to Clean the Stator To clean the stator, take the rotor and push it through the stator in the direction

Clean the material off of the end of the rotor and stator. Repeat this 2-3 times until no material comes out.

The rotor will push the material out of the end of the stator. Clean the material off of the end of the rotor and stator. Repeat this 2-3 times until no material comes out. Flush the stator with a compatible solvent. Push a pipe cleaner through the stator in the direction of the arrows. Pull the pipe cleaner all the way through. Repeat with a clean pipe cleaner until there is no material inside the stator and the pipe cleaners are clean when pulled through the stator. 18 Step 19 Use an adjustable wrench to install the luer adapter. Put the wrench on the flats of the luer adapter and turn it clockwise to tighten. Make sure the star shaped coupling is installed in the rotor section. Align the gap in the star shaped coupling with the metal prongs from the motor housing. You can turn the prongs or the coupling by hand to get them in the correct position. Make sure the bleed port and the mounting bolt holes are in the correct positions. Push the sections together and twist both sections from side to side until they are fully engaged and there are no gaps. Use a Philips screwdriver to install the four motor section bolts and turn them clockwise until they are tight.
