3 The rotation of the pump rotor, which is mounted eccentrically in the pump cylinder, traps entering vapor between rotor vane segments. As rotation continues, vapor is compressed and discharged into the exhaust box. Vapors then pass through several stages of internal oil and mist eliminators to remove 99.9% of lubricating oil from the exhaust. Oil is then returned to the oil reservoir. Additional features include an automotive spin-on type filter, and a built-in inlet anti-suckback valve that prevents the pump from rotating backwards. 8 GAS BALLAST PRODUCT LINE OVERVIEW KVA160C, 250D, 400C and 630C has adjustable gas ballast up to 3% of the capacity of the pump can be bled in through the ballast. KVA12 to KVA100 the Gas ballast allows 1-2 CFM to be bled in. Inlet temperature Standard limited to 150 F, lower temp is desirable utilizing a receiver, longer & larger inlet pipe, etc. BACK PRESSURE Maximum back pressure is 5 PSIG. FLA on motor must be monitored. OIL TEMPERATURE Most pumps operate around 200 F

9 VANE MATERIAL PRODUCT LINE OVERVIEW KVA12-KVA100 Phenolic Resin Vanes KVA160C, 250D, 400C and 630C Carbon Composite Vanes The carbon composite vanes are needed for the larger pumps due to the torque that is placed on the vane at start-up and start/stops.the phenolic resin works very well with the smaller pumps and without issues the composite vane is very rigid and durable COMPETITION S VANE MATERIAL Most manufacturers of these type of pumps use the fiberglass-phenolic resin vane and or composite due to its durability, ease of lubrication qualities. Rietschle uses aluminum vanes since they own an aluminum foundry Rietshle touts that the aluminum will transport the heat better out of the pump but the big issue is if the pumps either run out of oil or if the oil degrades and the vane starts to hit the cylinder wall, the aluminum vane will gouge and destroy the cylinder beyond repair the composite or phenolic vane would destroy itself first and may not destroy the cylinder as soon.

15 OIL Kinney KV-100 oil is a SAE 30 weight specially formulated for peak performance in all KVA pumps. It contains additives to increase oil life and reduce varnish build up. Kinney S500 synthetic ISO diester based oil designed to provide high temperature and long term lubrication with minimal deposit formation. Varying ambient and operating temperatures as well as a presence of vapors other than air (i.e. water vapor) will affect the above operating hours. Thinning of oil due to breakdown of oil can cause various problems: A.) Cylinder wear (washboarding) B.) Vane wear (caused by washboarding) C.) Vane wear produces vane dust/sticking vanes We would suggest daily checks of the oil color. Once the oil appears very dark, it is time for an oil change.

16 PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE PARTS EXHAUST FILTERS To be changed minimum once a year or when motor amp draw starts to increase. SPIN-ON OIL FILTERS To be changed every time the oil is changed. FYI: The filters shown above are interchangeable with Busch Vane Pumps
