3 Electronic Access System # Access Control Device Electromechanical Latch Manual Override Electronic Access System DOOR OPEN Access Monitoring The Electronic Access System is comprised of an Access Control Device which signals the Electromechanical Latch to actuate. The Electromechanical Latch then produces an output signal to indicate latch status. A Manual Override actuates the latch in the absence of electric power. Access Control # SOUTHCO electromechanical latch and lock solutions can be remotely operated by a variety of access control options such as electronic keys, keypads, RF proximity readers, RF key fobs, biometrics and custom switches. 5 EML Electromechanical Latches Electromechanical Latches (EML) The most important element of a good electronic access solution is the electromechanical latch or lock mechanism. The quality of the system, regardless of the extent of front-end electronics and software, is based on the ability of the EML to efficiently secure the door to the frame. 27 The use of blind drive rivets installed with only an ordinary hammer from one side of the job offers a highly simplified method of fastening. Speed, convenience and low installed cost make drive riveting preferable not only for blind joints but for fastening many parts that can be reached from either side. SOUTHCO drive rivets have a cored slotted body with a grooved pin protruding from its head. When the rivet is inserted through parts to be fastened the pin is driven flush with the rivet head causing the expanding prongs to form a blind head behind the rear sheet.
