This merger will provide an even greater level of service to our customers. Flagpole Components, Inc., or FCI was founded in 1987 to provide the flag and flagpole market with a single source for a complete range of components for all types of outdoor flags. At the suggestion from many of our customers, FCI began offering a line of high quality USA and state flags, all proudly made in America. A review of many of the product categories will show components ranging from economy versions to top of the line components for large, demanding applications. For example, truck assemblies range from the 2" diameter stationary truck assemblies to large revolving units for flagpoles with up to a 36" top diameter, such as cell towers, with many sizes and features in between. Two common elements in all products offered by Concord is quality and value. Over the years, our components have been imitated by others but ours remain the best and the most copied. Carefully look at all descriptions and specifications when comparison shopping. We do not cut corners. We will not compromise quality or safety in the design and manufacture of our products. We realize that this cannot always be accomplished, so orders placed for immediate shipment can, in some cases, be shipped COD. Every effort will be made to ship the products packaged in such a manner that the chances of in-transit damage are minimized. If the merchandise is delivered showing signs of freight damage, refuse the shipment and contact our Customer Service Department. We will be able to promptly reship your order and file a freight claim for the damages. If a visually damaged shipment is accepted and the damage later claimed, the responsibility for filing the claim may be that of the customer's. In any event, we will do everything possible to insure that you receive the product ordered in the best possible condition. A Return Authorization Number must be obtained from Customer Service prior to returning any merchandise for any reason. FINISHES When applicable, columns are marked as to the types of finishes available. Each finish for that part has a specific part number. Please refer to the part number when ordering. In general, the finishes available are: " SATIN " or " MATTE " refers to a natural finish or one that has been sanded, polished, tumbled or bead blasted. " BronzeTone" refers to a variety of finishes that give the appearance of a dark bronze anodized finish. The type of finish applied is determined by the type of alloy used in the manufacture of the product. In many of the applications, the finish is a powdercoat or powderpaint finish in a dark bronze color. "GoldTone" refers to a variety of finishes used to create a gold colored finish. This can range from a gold tone applied to spun aluminum or to a baked on gold powderpaint mixed with a clear lacquer. Please contact Customer Service if other finishes are desired. 8 FLAGPOLE BALLS - SPUN ALUMINUM PATENTED DESIGN Flagpole Components, Inc. proudly announces the introduction of the new patented design in the manufacturing of spun aluminum balls for the flagpole industry. These are made specifically for the flag and flagpole industry by a company that is in the flag and flagpole industry. These balls are spun to our specifications. Assembly and packaging are done in our Texas facility. The new Flagpole Ball, available in 4" diameter and larger, addresses several areas that have been a concern for our industry. First and foremost is the obvious need for the flagpole ball to stay together. Our new design addresses several areas and has a patent status in the components and assembly methods. The thick spherical halves are spun with an extra wide lip at the joint. This will significantly limit the upper half sphere s ability to slide down over the bottom half. But material thickness alone will not address the issue, especially in the larger sizes. A 3/4" diameter, thick wall aluminum tube is cut to a specific length, tapped 3/8"-16NC on each end, and used as an inner space to assure the proper compression on the two halves as the components come together. A 3/8"-16NC plated steel pan head bolt is used to secure the spacer rod at the ball top. The bolt is also secured with a high strength compound. No rivet or internal mounted nut is used. At the bottom, the ball stem is machined from 3/4" 6063 aluminum and is available in the common truck attachment sizes of 1/2"-13NC or 5/8" 11NC. The stem is secured to the ball and the inner rod with another 3/8"-16NC threaded and plated steel rod. After chemical sealer is applied, 1" goes into the inner spacer and 1" goes into the stem. A plated steel jamb nut is provided to secure the ball to the truck assembly. The packaging and outside label have been designed to protect from damage and show complete product information with installation tips. 11 EAGLE - CAST ALUMINUM Dimensions on eagles offered by Concord Industries, Inc. are measured both as the distance from wing-tip to wing-tip and, more importantly, an approximate measurement from the tip of one wing, down the length of the wing, over the body, and up the length of the other wing. This will be referred to as Overall Wing Span. Since the wings are cast in various forms of an in-flight configuration, true wing span would actually be larger. Attachment rod size is 1 /2"-13NC. 12 SLIP-OVER, CAP STYLE TRUCK ASSEMBLIES EXTERNAL HALYARD Slip-on or Cap Style Truck Assemblies are perfect for shorter flagpoles, shafts without internal threads for a screw in truck assembly or shafts with threads damaged beyond repair. They are an excellent choice when converting various types of tubing or poles to use as flagpoles. Trucks for shafts with a top diameter of up to 3 1 /2" are attached via 3 stainless steel set screws. Larger sizes are attached via 3 stainless steel bolts. 14 ROTATING TRUCK ASSEMBLIES EXTERNAL HALYARD THREADED NPT SPINDLE Selecting the correct thread size for a spindle based revolving truck Revolving truck assemblies generally consist of a truck body rotating on some form of a bearing configuration and a spindle assembly which is usually threaded to fit the top of the flagpole shaft. While there is no formal industry standard for thread size, the most commonly used format is National Pipe Thread or NPT. The most common size is 1 1 /4"NPT while 1"NPT and 1 1 /2"NPT can also be found. Threads that are cut in an NPT format are measured and expressed differently than National Coarse (NC) or National Fine (NF) threads. When determining the proper thread for a spindle assembly, the following approximate dimensions for measuring across the bottom of the spindle should help determine the NPT size to be ordered. As a reminder, pipe threads are tapered but this should be close enough for size determination. Unless otherwise stated, all Revolving Truck Assemblies offered in this catalog have 1 1 /4"NPT spindles. Should you need a different size, contact Customer Service. In many cases, alternative spindles are available. 24 FOUNDATION SLEEVES FOR IN-GROUND FLAGPOLES The in-ground, or ground mounted, format is the most common method of flagpole installation. Installing a setting tube or foundation sleeve assembly with concrete allows small residential flagpoles to be set inside the tube and held in place by a friction fit. More commonly, residential flagpoles are installed by dry sand tamped between the inside of the sleeve and the flagpole. By using the sand fill method and selecting a sleeve at least 2" larger than the outside diameter of the flagpole, adjustments can be made if the sleeve is not perfectly vertical. Wooden wedges not provided are used to plumb the flagpole during the sand filling process. Generally accepted industry standards call for 10% of the flagpole height to be encased in the ground sleeve assembly. This and the amount of concrete used to install the sleeve varies according to the size of the flagpole and the soil conditions at the installation site. Extreme care should be taken in the installation process with regard to overhead wires and buried cables or pipe. Follow the flagpole manufacturer instructions during the installation process. Do not use concrete between the sleeve and the flagpole nor as a cap for the installed sand. CORRUGATED STEEL FOUNDATION SLEEVES WITH FOUNDATION AND GROUND SPIKE Manufactured using 16ga. Galvanized, corrugated steel tubing with steel centering wedges, sized base plate and installation plate on a 3/4" ground spike. 26 INTERNAL HALYARD FLAGPOLE DIAGRAM The diagram shown here identifies the commonly used components found in a cable based internal halyard flagpole. Expect some variance between manufacturers. Note that the diagram is for a stainless steel cable base flagpole and is different from a Rope Based Internal Halyard Flagpole. In a Rope Based Internal Halyard Flagpole, the Cable Assembly and Flag Arrangement are usually replaced by a single rope with a yoke crimped on the end to attach the counterweight followed by the retainer ring.
