3 Please read this operating manual prior to installation This calorific energy meter must only be used under the conditions stated in the operating manual and subject to the conditions stated on the device. Siemens cannot be held liable in the event of failure to observe the above. SITRANS FUE950 is a calorific energy meter ready for verification in accordance with European norm EN The calorific energy meter may have been verified once, depending on the destination country; this will then be apparent from the country-specific/ producer stickers. Siemens accepts no liability for amendment of legal metrological data if the seal has been broken. 5 Installation options, energy calculator type SITRANS FUE950 Fig. 1 Fig. 2 Max. 55 C On the wall The energy calculator is mounted using the wall fitting supplied. (Ambient temperature max. 55 C). In panel Mounting hole of 130 x 90 mm. The energy calculator is fixed using M3 x 10 mm self-tapping screws. Installing the temperature sensors Important! The temperature sensors are paired sets and must never be separated. The length of the temperature sensor cable must not be changed since it affects the accuracy of the meter. 1. Mount the sensors in accordance with fig. 24, depending on the sensor type. 2. Mount the forward flow temperature sensor (red label) into the hot pipe. 3. Mount the return temperature sensor (blue label) in the cold pipe. 4. Seal the sensors (Fig. 24). 5

Fig. 3 Temperature sensors Fig. 4a Fig. 4b Fig. 4c Connection of the temperature sensors 1. 2-wire temperature sensors (Fig. 4a). - The temperature sensors are paired sets and it is not allowed to separate it. - The length of the temperature sensor cable must not be changed as it affects the accuracy of the meter. - Connect the forward flow temperature sensor (red label) to terminals 5 and 6. (T H ). - Connect the return flow temperature sensor (blue label) to terminals 7 and 8 (T C ). 1a. 4-wire temperature sensors (Fig. 4b). - The polarity must be correct for 4-wire measurement. - Connect the forward flow temperature sensor to terminals 1, 5 and 6, 2. (T H ). Short circuit bridges have to be removed. - Connect the return flow temperature sensor to terminals 3, 7 and 8, 4 (T C ). Short circiut bridges have to be removed. 2. Press the sensor cables down into the cable relief rail with your finger (Fig. 4c). 6

8 Electrical connections to MAG 5000/6000: 2 resistors are required to obtain a correct transmission of pulses, when MAG 5000/6000 is connected together with a SITRANS FUE950 as a heat meter. The 2 resistors are to be mounted between terminals 57 and 58 in the MAG terminal socket. Resistors are not part of our accessories list. Fig. 7 8

9 Battery module The lifetime of the battery is highly dependent on thermal influences and consequently the period of functioning of the energy calculator can only be guaranteed if the temperature limits set out in the section Installation options are not exceeded. Push the battery into place in the bottom section and press the power supply cable into the cutout in the top of the bottom section so that it is not crushed when refitting the top of the energy calculator. 2. Fit the plug to the connection pin. 3. Refit the top of the energy calculator. 230 V AC/24 V AC module Fig. 9 Fig. 9a 1. Push the power supply unit into place in the bottom section. 2. Press the power supply cable into the cutout in the top of the bottom section so that it is not crushed when refitting the top of the energy calculator. 3. Mount the plug on the connection pin. 4. Connect the 24 V AC or 230 V AC cable to terminals. (Check the voltage supply on top of transformator) 5. Refit the top of the energy calculator. 9

10 Add-on modules The FUE950 can be supplied with one of several types of module. The module is placed in the right-hand side of the bottom section and screwed tight if this has not already been done on supply. Modules are only "active" when installed at ordering. The FUE950 requires a special adapter cable FDK-087H0121 for communication with a PC due to signal modification to RS 232 level. 10

12 Operation and reading The FUE950 is supplied with only one control button. In the normal mode of operation the display will show the cumulative energy. The display will always be configured in accordance with the customer s application and selected settings and consequently there will be fewer or more display options under the individual display menus. Pressing the button for a longer period of more than 2 sec.: the display switches to the sub-menu for reading secondary parameters. The arrow has 2 bars indicating that you are in a sub-menu. Repeated brief pressing of the button: the display switches between the possible display sub-menus. If the menu. button is not pressed for 1 minute the display returns to the first main 12

15 Mounting of the ultrasonic flowmeter Mounting of the flowmeter must be in accordance with the text stated on the SITRANS FUE950 e.g. flowmeter in return, i.e. for type CF: Flowmeter in flow pipe (cold pipe) for type CR : Flowmeter in return pipe (warm pipe) for type SF: Flowmeter in forward pipe (warm pipe in the wintertime, cold pipe in the summertime) for type SR: Flowmeter in return pipe (cold pipe in the summertime, warm pipe in the wintertime) Mounting of sensors The Pt wire cables are marked with a red and blue label. For pure cooling systems CF/CR: The temperature cable marked with a red label has to be mounted on the hot side in the system (return pipe) and connected to heat meter terminal T H. For combined systems SF/SR: The temperature cable marked with a red label has to be mounted on the hot side (forward) in the system when installing in the heating season (winter), or the cold side when installing in the cooling season (summer) and connected to heat meter terminal T H. Zero point calibration of differential temperature (only types CF/CR) Cooling systems always operate with a small Dt and a relatively high flow rate. For technical reasons no sensor pair provides completely accurate temperature difference measurements when the sensor temperature difference between forward and return flow is close to zero. SITRANS FUE950 type CF/CR contains a special zero point calibration routine that can be activated in order to minimize the temperature difference measuring failure. Normally the zero point calibration is not needed, but can be activated out in order to obtain maximum accuracy in the energy calculation. The zero point calibration function requires a short circuit between forward and return sensor in the cooling system e.g. by installing a valve V1 (see drawing). 15

16 Fig. 20 Procedure 1. Open valve V1 and close valve V2 and let the cooling system run at a medium cooling temperature. E.g. 10 C until the absolute temperature in forward and return pipe and the Dt are stable. 2. Bring the SITRANS FUE950 in the reset routine (see item Reset routine ) and step forward with a brief press on the push button until the Dt value appears. Fig A long press on the push-button will start the zero point calibration. The display now shows a 1 99 % indication. When the indication reaches 99%, the zero point calibration is finished and the display shows the calculated zero displacement value. 4. The SITRANS FUE950 has now been zero adjusted and the display returns to normal mode within 10 sec. or the push button can be activated again for further reset at hour counter. 16

17 T Function test Before leaving the unit check the following: Flowmeter 1. That the flowmeter is fitted correctly in the direction of the water flow. 2. That the flowmeter is placed in the forward or return line section in accordance with the position information printed on the energy calculator label (forward or return). SITRANS FUE950 A pulse indicator can be seen in the bottom right-hand corner of the display. The pulse indicator flashes at a fixed frequency during error-free operation. 1. Check that the pulse indicator is flashing regularly. 2. Check that no error function is indicated by the symbol or a broken heat meter. 3. Press the button briefly to check that all the major functions display feasible values, e.g. cumulative energy, cumulative water quantity, forward and return temperature. 4. Press the button repeatedly to return the arrow indicator to the top INFO and check that all display segments are visible. The SITRANS FUE950 is now ready for use. 17

18 ! Error information If a or error code is displayed this is due to one of the following possible errors: F1 Forward temperature sensor (hot) is interrupted or short-circuited. F2 Return temperature sensor (cold) is interrupted or short-circuited. If a F3 F4 F5 error code is displayed this is due to one of the following possible errors: Internal fault. Differential temperature, but no flow. Water quantity exceeds measurement range. Resetting errors Error states can be reset either: 1. Using a handheld terminal (see instructions for use of handheld terminal). 2. Without using a handheld terminal. Resetting without using handheld terminal 1. Lift the top of the energy calculator off of the bottom section and wait until the digits in the display disappear (this may take up to 30 seconds). 2. Hold in the button and keep it pushed, whilst putting the top of the energy calculator back on the bottom section. The character for reset mode is now shown and the display will show: Fig Brief press: jumps through the various reset options. 4. Long press: resets the error. 5. After the reset the error number and or will disappear from the display. Fig

19 Sealing Fig. 24 The individual parts of the SITRANS FUE950 system are to be sealed in accordance with local provisions in the country in question. 1. The energy calculator must be provided with an adhesive label seal on the back of the top of the energy calculator. 2. The energy calculator is provided with a thread seal or adhesive label seal. 3. The sensors are thread-sealed. Important! It is important that the sealing threads are kept as short as possible and are tensioned well to the seal. 19
