The strength and quality of GFS products comes from precision structural engineering and continual product development. Our in-house design and engineering team consists of electrical engineers, software developers, structural engineers, airflow specialists, code compliance specialists and systems designers. This experienced team provides pre-contract, mechanical, electrical, AutoCAD, PLC and programming functions on custom and standard equipment orders. Five of our engineers are licensed professional engineers, with licensure in a total of 31 U.S. states and four Canadian provinces and growing! GFS is continually improving our standard products, and working to develop new and innovative products to meet the changing needs of our customers. A dedicated research and development area allows our engineers to build and test the latest technologies for the paint finishing industry. New advanced software allows us to simulate booth airflow performance. By modeling the various elements of the booth (intake/exhaust filters, intake/exhaust location, fan performance, etc.), we can provide customers with a preview of how well the booth will perform. Shipped with Care Your GFS product will arrive at your doorstep in the same condition that it leaves the shop. Carefully packaged, our auto refinish products are plastic-coated and placed in a wooden crate, before being loaded onto an enclosed semi truck from our designated trucking company, Malibu. Your booth will not be exposed to the elements during transport! 3

4 C o n s t r u c t i o n Solid, Long-Lasting Construction All of GFS auto refinish booths feature vertical wall panels. Designed to reduce the total number of joints and seams in the booth, vertical wall panels create a stronger and longerlasting cabin. Fewer seams also mean smoother walls, which are less likely to collect dirt and are easier to clean. Wall panels are produced using rust-resistant G-90 galvanized sheet steel that is coated on both sides with a baked-on polyester topcoat for superior long life and durability. The industry standard is white painted, non-galvanized, cold-rolled steel. Fiberglass insulation White pre-coated steel H-Channel Construction Dual-Skin Panels GFS pre-coated, dual-skin insulated panels provide a smooth fit and finish with no exposed wires or cables. Insulated panels cut down on noise and reduce ambient heat outside of the booth, while keeping heated air inside the cabin. H-Channel Construction Floor Levelling Profile A GFS-exclusive design, H-channel construction allows for easy booth setup, and maximum strength and rigidity. 6 galvanized steel columns in an H-channel shape connect to booth wall panels without nuts or bolts. A virtually airtight seal limits the potential for leaks and contamination, keeping dirt out of the booth and off of the paint job. Code Compliance A crucial part of the purchasing and installation process of a spray booth is ensuring that your installation meets all of the safety and legal requirements that apply to your city, state and country. GFS makes sure that our products meet and/or exceed all the applicable codes related to the equipment. Currently, one of our engineers serves on the NFPA Technical Committee on Finishing Processes. The contractor will make certain that all of the electrical wiring and conduit, piping, gas supply, roof penetrations and automatic fire protection systems, as well as the location of the equipment within the building, conform to the cited codes and other references. The equipment installation location should be reviewed and approved by the local authorities having jurisdiction. Fire suppression is NOT included with the standard booth but is required by NFPA 33. 5 L i g h t s Quality Down to the Nuts and Bolts GFS uses only top-quality hardware. Our weld-free designs mean no weak points and no corrosion. GFS hinges, latches and hardware are all fully adjustable so you get the perfect fit, every time. No Shadows! Shadows can interfere with a painter s depth perception, making it much more difficult to apply the perfect finish on a vehicle. With horizontal sidewall lighting, a constant shadow is cast on the vehicle as you spray. To combat this issue, GFS has designed all of our auto refinish booths with vertical sidewall lights. Vertical lights allow the painter to move freely around the vehicle with less light interaction. This is accomplished using color-corrected lights. In addition to manufacturing our paint booths, GFS also manufactures all light fixtures in our Osseo facility. This gives us the advantage of placing GFS manufactured light fixtures with color-correcting tubes in all our auto refinish spray booths. 5

6 G F S A i r f l o w Consistent Airflow From the Plenum to the Pit GFS paint booths are designed for the most consistent airflow throughout the booth. The majority of our auto refinish booths feature a full, twofoot high plenum design, which allows for a high volume and even distribution of air between the plenum and the cabin. An adjustable diffuser in the plenum directs airflow where it needs to be. In our downdraft booths, the pit works together with the plenum to balance the air as it is drawn out of the booth. Carefully engineered for maximum filter utilization and balanced airflow, our pits feature suspended filters and pans with holes of varying sizes. These pans allow more air to flow through the exhaust pit at certain points based on the location of the heater unit. This cohesive partnership of the plenum and pit is unmatched by our competitors! This patented, exclusive ceiling design was engineered to maximize the effectiveness of downdraft airflow models. Main and side airflow zones keep overspray from collecting on the walls and maintain a better envelope of protective air around the vehicle. In between these airflow zones are strategically placed ceiling lights. These color-corrected lights are located directly above the sides of the car for optimal illumination. This classic design, High-Performance Airflow ceiling (HPAC), is simple in its construction and concept, yet it yields impressive performance. The full-filtered ceiling provides excellent air filtration and contamination control, and the integrated hip-style ceiling lights illuminate where you need it most. Concrete pit section Airflow options Downdraft High-Performance Paint Booth Generally accepted as the best airflow style, downdraft spray booths do an excellent job of controlling overspray and contamination. Air flows vertically from the ceiling intake plenum at the top of the booth, over the vehicle, and into the filtered exhaust pit in the floor. Semi-Downdraft Economical Paint Environment The semi-downdraft booth is a "hybrid", combining features of both crossdraft and downdraft booths. Air is introduced to the booth through the ceiling in the first 25-30% of the booth. Then it s pulled across the working chamber, over the vehicle and into the filtered exhaust chamber at the booth rear. Side Downdraft Downdraft airflow with no pit! Side downdraft booths are an economical solution for shops that can t afford or aren t able to install a pit. Air enters the booth through a full-length ceiling plenum, and flows downward over the vehicle. When air reaches the floor, it is pulled into floor-level filtered exhaust plenums on each side of the booth. Crossdraft Proven airflow design The simplest configuration, crossdraft booths use an exhaust fan to pull air in at one end of the booth. Air may pass through a filtered door, enter the working chamber unfiltered, or be pushed in through a pressurized input plenum. Air flows parallel to the floor, across the vehicle and into a filter bank at the booth rear. 7

LOGIC 4 The LOGIC 4 control panel is the most advanced and user-programmable spray booth control system on the market today. GFS AdvanceCure accelerated airflow system greatly reduces the amount of time needed to cure or dry any type of coating, be it waterborne or solvent-based. In order to achieve the fastest drying times possible, air must be disrupted and dispersed. This disruption is accomplished by creating turbulent airflow on the surface of the vehicle, which is what AdvanceCure does. It breaks up the slow-moving boundary air and rapidly speeds up the drying process. AdvanceCure interacts with the downdraft airflow in order to produce controlled turbulent airflow on all the surfaces of the vehicle. This effectively turns the paint booth in to a convection oven, and drastically reduces drying times.
