4 Operating Instructions HOTONIX CAP The Hotronix Cap Operating Instructions are designed with you in mind. Carefully read and follow the step-by-step instructions for best results. If you experience any difficulty, carefully re-read the instructions and try again. Step 1 CONNECT THE POWE COD: Connect the power cord into a properly grounded electrical outlet with a sufficient amperage rating. 12 Volt Your HOTONIX CAP requires a full 4.5 amp grounded circuit for 12 volt operation. 24 Volt Your HOTONIX CAP requires a full 2.5 amp grounded circuit for 24 volt operation. Extension Cords, if used, should be as short as possible and not less than 12 gauge. Heavy duty cords are recommended. Circuits that have under 15 amps or other high demand equipment or appliances (especially more than one heat seal machine) should not be used. NOTE: If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid hazard. CAUTION FAILUE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTUCTIONS WILL CAUSE: 1. Erratic controller functions. 2. Inaccurate or unstable LED Displays. 3. Overheating of the circuit breaker and cord. Page 4

5 Step 2 SWITCH THE SYSTEM ON IMPOTANT: BEFOE turning your machine on, be sure that the heat platen is in the UP position. Locate the Power ON/OFF Switch on the press. ON/OFF SWITCH LOWE THE HEAT PLATEN TO THE DOWN POSITION, BUT DO NOT LOCK THE HANDLES INTO THE PESS POSITION. LED will alternately display: and ed light will be on. TEMP( F) - ED TIME - YELLOW EADY/PINT - GEEN Message Explanation: 18 F (81 C) = Actual Platen Temperature NOTE: 18 F (81 C) is the lowest temperature the sensor will read 33 F (165 C) = Target Temperature Page 5

6 Step 2 CONTINUED At this point, your machine is automatically heating to the factory pre-set temperature of 33 F (165 C). You will be able to monitor the progress by watching the LED display. The lowest temperature 18 F, (81 C) will be displayed until the heat platen reaches 18 F (81 C). Thereafter, it will rise to the Target Temperature. When your equipment has reached the Target Temperature, the following message will be displayed. 7 To Change Temperature Step 1 PESS THE TEMPEATUE KEY F C The current Target Temperature will be displayed and the Temperature Light will be on. LED will alternately display: 33 On Off Off TEMP( F) - ED TIME - YELLOW EADY/PINT - GEEN Step 2 KEY IN THE DESIED TEMPEATUE ( i.e. 36 F (182 C) ) 36 NOTE: The press will not accept temperatures below 25 F (96 C) or above 43 F (221 C). If you mistakenly attempt to key in a temperature beyond the allowable range, the press will beep to alert you of your error, repeat Step Two. Page 7

8 Step 3 PESS E TO ENTE TEMPEATUE CHANGES E Your new temperature has now been programmed and the heat platen will begin to heat or cool to obtain the new temperature. The temperature light will remain on until the new temperature is reached. LED will alternately display: and On Off Off TEMP( F) - ED TIME - YELLOW EADY/PINT - GEEN NOTE: The eady/print Light will be your signal that your Hotronix Cap Press has arrived at the new set temperature. 9 To Change Time Step 1 PESS THE TIME KEY The current Time Setting will be displayed and the Timer Light will be on. LED will alternately display: 8 Off On Off TEMP( F) - ED TIME - YELLOW EADY/PINT - GEEN Step 2 KEY IN THE THEE DIGIT TIME SETTING ( i.e. 8 ) NOTE: The press will not accept settings below 1 or above 999. If you mistakenly attempt to key in a time beyond the allowable range, the press will beep to alert you of your error, repeat Step Two. Step 3 PESS E TO ENTE TIME CHANGES E Your new time has now been programmed. Page 9

10 To Adust Pressure Step 1 The Pressure Adjustment Knob is located directly under the cap platen. PESSUE ADJUSTMENT KNOB Adjust the pressure by turning the knob clockwise to increase pressure and counter clockwise to decrease pressure. EMEMBE: Allow for the thickness of your garment when adjusting the pressure. WANING: STUCTUAL DAMAGE CAUSED BY EXCESSIVE PESSUE IS NOT COVEED UNDE THE HOTONIX LIMITED WAANTY! Page 1

11 Print Step 1 Place Cap Holddown Lever in UP position by lifting the end handle located just below the right side of the cap platen. CAP HOLDDOWN LEVE Position the cap by placing the face of the cap on the platen. Pull the rear of the cap down around the Cap Holddown. Lower the Cap Holddown Lever by pushing it away from the platen. At this time, make sure face of cap is well conformed to platen and visor board is even with the front of the platen. Lower and lock the heat platen into the press position. This procedure will start the automatic timing process. When the green light illuminates and constant alarm sounds, lift the heat platen and proceed according to the application instructions. Page 11
