We specialise in building measuring instruments for the coal mining industry. Experience creates confidence Our company was found in 1976 in Remscheid, Germany. Even back then, it was important to our company to produce a durable, high quality product using innovative procedures. In 2001 Mr. Lothar Schnickmann and Mr. Michael Wolf took over management of the company. The company then expanded, and under the conditions of excellent traffic connections, resettled to Hamm in Westphalia. Due to the new location, it is now possible to react much faster to customer demand, to optimise manufacturing possibilities, and be in the basic area of our customers. We engineer measuring and control equipment, such as Volume flow, Temperature, Pressure and Level measuring devices as well as Control units and temperature switches for the use in explosion prevention areas. 4 INTRINSICALLY SAFE MEASURING SYSTEM TYPE UNi The intrinsically safe measuring unit type UNI are constructed for the use in Volume / Pressure / Temperature and/or Level measuring, of liquid or gaseous media in closed and filled systems. Universal measuring instrument for Volume m³ / h NEW! with external Display Pressure up to 600 bar max. Temperatures -20 ºC to + 60 ºC Level Combinations of the above mentioned of liquid or gaseous media s NEW! with internal temperature-measurement The intrinsically safe measuring units are supplied with a 12 V DC power supply unit from a different mining industry supplier. The electronics are situated in a robust, shockproof casing made of red brass. When a LC-Display is required, the casing cover is made of Plexiglas. Depending upon the configuration required, a threaded fitting (M20x1,5) with the length of cable requested, a four pin jack socket from the company PROMOS, or a cable box which is fitted to the electronics casing can be ordered. The analogous transfer signal range is from 5 Hz to 15 Hz. For the inspection and for the balancing of the transmission route, a switchable spot frequency from 5 Hz to 15 Hz is available. Two infinitely adjustable boundary values with a floating transistor exit (NPN) are situated in the electronics. User defined mounting position. 5 VOLUME FLOW MEASURING The medium that is being measured flows through a hole inside of the housing and starts to turn the turbine wheel. The turbine wheel is fitted with five enclosed magnets. The magnetic field is registered and evaluated by the electronics and according to the set parameters for the nominal width, the flow volume is showed using the display. All necessary parameters and adjustments for the nominal widths of the UNI devices are set by the manufacturer and do not need to be changed. Devices with thread fittings and a nominal width between DN 15 and DN 50 are built out of brass (MS58). Devices with flanges and a nominal width between DN 50 and DN 300 are built out of steel (ST37) and have an internal brass (RG7) bush fitted. 7 PRESSURE MEASURING Inside the pressure pick up sensor, a piezoresistive pressure transducer with a temperature compensator is integrated. An external and intrinsically safe 12V power supply is required. 8 TEMPERATURE MEASURING A precision-centigrade measurement of the temperature occurs by a precision-centigradetemperature sensor. As auxiliary energy an intrinsically safe 12 volt power supply is required. The temperature can be transmitted as an analogous measured value Signal range 5-15 Hz and / or 0/4-20mA transmitted as a digital boundary value 0-50% and % infinitely adjustable. Both signals can be carried out separately or combined. Both internal and external measuring are possible. The external sensor (type TF) can be run using an electric cable, maximal length 30 m long. The mechanical fitting is a ½ pipe thread. Boundary contacts, either for temperature / volume, or for the fitting of internal or external temperature sensors, must be indicated if wished and ordered separately. 8

9 LEVEL MEASURING The UNI measuring unit is used for height and fill level measuring of fluid mediums in pressureless tanks or contains and are maintenance free. At the bottom of the probe tube, a piezoresistive pressure transducer is mounted. Using this construction, any tank or containers of any size or depth can be monitored and measured. The probe tube is firmly mounted to the electronics case, for assembly purposes, a round brass flange is supplied. Other fixing is available on request. 10 SPLIT SENSOR The UNI measuring system, can be fitted out with a split sensor for external measuring. Instead of an LC-display on the main unit, the display is situated on the split sensor evaluating unit. This is used for monitoring and is mounted inside a stainless steel housing. The display console can be used for measuring Volume / Pressure / Temperature and Level measuring upon request. The UNI measuring unit is built specifically for split sensor measuring. The measuring principle of the console is identical, the electronics of the measuring unit and the split sensor are separated from the main housing. The dimensions of the stainless steel console are: Width: 300 mm or 200 mm Height: 200 mm or 200 mm Depth: 81 mm or 81 mm These dimensions may vary according to customer request. 10

12 INTRINSICALLY SAFE MEASURING SYSTEM TYPE SMALL The Universal-Measuring-Instruments type SMALL are general-standard Measuring-Instruments for Pressure-, Level- and Temperature-Measurement. The Measuring-Instrument is built for the application in very rough and hard environments, and because of the solid construction through the stainless-steel-housing it is very robust. They are developed for the application in filled systems with fluid or gaseous media. The Round-Instrument-Design is equipped optionally with or without a LC-display. The In-Line-Design is equipped without a LC-display. Both constructions can also be fitted with an split sensor. The split sensor is mounted in a separate housing and connected to the evaluation unit via a connection lead. The split sensor can be fitted with or withour an LC- Display, according to customer demand. different lengths. The mechanical connection can be selected with different sized thread fittings, flanges or connect-o. 15 LEVEL MEASURING The SMALL measuring unit is used for height and fill level measuring of fluid mediums in pressureless tanks or containers and are maintenance free. At the bottom of the probe tube, a piezoresistive pressure transducer is mounted. Using this construction, any tank or container of any size or depth and be checked and measured. The flow indicator type DA is only for monitoring use, whereas the flow indicator type DAK have a contact boundary switch integrated. Inside of the massive brass housing, a contact breaker is fitted to the volume dial. The lower and upper boundaries can be externally adjusted over the whole range of the dial using the key, which is delivered with the unit. 19

23 INTRINSICALLY SAFE FLOW VOLUME CONTROL UNIT TYPE RV The flow volume control unit is constructed for use as a regulating valve for liquid and gaseous mediums in a filled and closed system. The installation size starts with DN 50 and is able to go up to DN 300. The cylinder barrel is located inside of the valve housing, and driven by an eccentric tappet. This can be stopped in any position and restarted again in the same direction or in reverse. The run time is approximately 90 seconds. The valve housing is made of steel (St 52.3) and the cylinder sleeve as well as the cylinder barrel are made of red brass (RG 7). If the unit is to be used with aggressive fluids or gasses, both cylinder sleeve and cylinder barrel are available in stainless steel (1.4571). The power supply for the electrical drive and electronics of the control valve, are supplied by the intrinsically safe power supply unit. The valve positioning signal is transmitted through a 0/4 to 20 ma signal or a current signal * to ** V. Additionally, a digital signal with a band width of 5 Hz to Both end position of the control unit OPEN and CLOSE, are provided as a potential free relay output inside the terminal box. For the drive and fault clearance purposes, the potential free contact at the potential free optocoupler must be used. 23

24 The regulating valve has an automatic repeating circuit wiring. If the cylinder barrel is blocked, an inversion of the direction will occur. After a preset time ha elapsed, the inversion activity will stop and the drive will commence in the foreseen direction. If the blockage is still not cleared, the regulating valve will then go into a Fault sequence, and is switched off electrically and locked. A signal at the fault clearance inlet will cancel the electrical locking. If power failure occurs, the control valve can be opened or closed using the handwheel provided. To avoid damage during transportation the handwheel is provided separately. 27 HEAT EXCHANGER MONITORING UNIT TYPE WMT The intrinsically safe heat exchanger monitoring unit type WMT *** - * is for the use in monitoring cooling equipment and their heat exchangers. The WMT monitors the flow volume as well as the temperature of the flow and return cooling mediums, using an UNI measuring instrument. All measuring values are transmitted using a linear signal 5 Hz to 15 Hz, whereas the flow volume is shown locally using a separate digital LC-Display. The signal connection and transmission take place using the much approved PROMOS coupling system. Using the PROMOS coupling system, it is possible to trigger the internal integrated cleaning jet valve. It is also possible to directly trigger the cooling ventilators via the integrated hand switch which is located inside of the unit. The electrical and mechanical connection of the WMT unit occur using plug-in connectors. Because of the compact construction and the plug-in connectors, a very quick and assembly friendly installation is given, and a very good cost/performance ratio as well as a minimised down time of affiliated machinery is guaranteed.
