11 ARCHITECTURAL LIGHTING - SUSPENDED - INDIRECT / DIRECT LUMINAIRES KL3 series LOW PROFILE Unique sculptured, low profile, elliptical cross section with regressed splayed aperture rising one inch above fixture bottom. Designed for efficiency with form and function. Aesthetically enhances and illuminates the interiors of computer offices, libraries, banks, boardrooms, reception areas, or anywhere an alternative to the norm is desired. Extruded housing from aluminum alloy AA6063 with minimum wall thickness. Die cast aluminum end and joiner plates. Concealed fastening hardware. One piece luminaire can be factory assembled and wired up to a nominal 24 foot length, subject to building access. Other lengths are available in linear form or in any configurations possible by using matching specific connectors. The optical chamber consists of reflectors finished with a high gloss polyester powder-coat paint. To achieve a wide spread light distribution a specular hammertone side kickers were added. 5 Standard finish is a baked white polyester powder-coat. Other finishes available in a wide selection of colours. Three light distributions are offered:- INDIRECT ( Uplight only). INDIRECT/DIRECT ( Downlight not isolated ). INDIRECT/ DIRECT ( Downlight isolated ). Designed for use with F32T8, twin tube TT5 or BX, and T5 lamps. Not suitable for T12 lamps. Lamp wattage may vary depending on space available to fill a specified section of a luminaire with continuous lamps. This series is custom manufactured to any nominal length required to suit a space, whether linear or geometrically configured. Shop drawings will be issued for approval. Manufacturing will proceed when such drawings are returned as approved by the client. THE KL3 SERIES UTILIZES THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY IN LAMPS AND MINIATURE ELECTRONIC BALLAST DESIGNS. AVAILABLE FOR 120, 277, 347 VAC, 60 HZ. 3-1/ CROSS SECTION VIEW STANDARD SUSPENSION SUPPLIED WITH STAINLESS STEEL AIRCRAFT CABLE SYSTEM AND WHITE CORD FEED. ROD HANGERS ARE AVAILABLE AS AN OPTION. KM3 series This series has all the characteristics of the above KL3 luminaire, except that provisions were added to accomodate conventional ballasts although mini-can electronic ballasts may be used. The KL3 can be up to a maximum of 20 feet in length. The ballast compartment is strategically located at fixture ends or at junctions of configured layouts. The snap-in ballast covers allows access to ballasts without the use of tools. A sliding adjustable bridge hangers allow field adjustments to avoid overhead obstructions. THE KM3 SERIES WAS DESIGNED FOR USE WITH CONVENTIONAL BALLASTS ALTHOUGH MINIATURE ELECTRONIC BALLAST DESIGNS MAY BE USED. CONFIGURATION EXAMPLES ( bottom views) Specify the indirect or indirect-direct lighting component's base number as shown on page 6. Select a configuration from the samples illustrated and specify the nominal length of each section as designated by the letter "L" or supply your personal configuration. A single run from 2 feet up to 24 feet are possible as shown in configuration "A" for the KL3 and up to 20 feet for the KM3. L A B 7 SPECIFY: Type of hanger desired, stem or cable, length. Please note that this series is custom manufactured and requires precision input to satisfy a job situation, and a successful installation. Therefore, our assistance in luminaire layout and component selection can be beneficial during the initial design stage. We will also supply detailed shop drawings for approval. Manufacturing will begin when the approved drawings are received from the client. Photometric data can be provided on request. Light controlled by the specular aluminum louver virtually eliminates glare at angles above the louver cut-off angle, (the shielding zone). Optimum ambient lighting should provide a balance between VDT task luminance and the surrounding area. The IES criteria of RP-1 provide guidance as to the recommended and acceptable values, the table above shows those values at the different applicable angles. OPTILUX luminaires are equipped with a precision formed parabolic louver made from low iridescent specular aluminum that virtually eliminates reflected luminaire image on visual display terminals (VDT), providing optimum visual comfort per RP-1 recommendations. Economically benificial, a conversion kit with properly matched high efficient ballasts and lamps will save energy consumption compared to older magnteic ballasted rapid-start installations. High efficiency electronic ballasts offer enhanced lighting performance and energy saving. A super reflective interior surface is used for these luminaires. High efficiency is obtained by employing a prefinished material consisting of a silver-metalized film on a metal substrate, resulting in a 96% total hemispherical reflectance, producing up to 99% of the lamps colour rendition. A superior material designed for the lighting industry resulting in high performance and enhanced quality of light. SPECULAR Products identified with the HT FINISH designation in this catalogue can be provided with the HYDRO-TECH specular silver interior, specular reflectors, or a combination of both depending on the model. 77 Other Special Finishes Other than the Hydro Tech specular finish, special high performance white paint finishes to enhance the luminaire operation have been developed and are available, these include: 71 The MAXIMUM REVEAL Finish, The MAXIMUM REVEAL finish, is a specially formulated high quality powder coating optimized to increase reflectivity and to improve luminaire performance. Products identified with the MR MAX. REVEAL FINISH designation in this catalogue, for a small premium, can be applied to painted luminaires when higher performance is desired. It is specified by adding the designation MR after the catalogue number of the luminaire. The MAXIMUM REVEAL special formulation, is applied in a thickness of 2.5 mils on the raw steel parts following a multi-stage chemical cleaning process and can produce paint reflectivity values in the order of 97% at specific wave lengths. The performance of the MAXIMUM REVEAL treatment is especially appreciable when the Nanometric values on the electromagnetic spectrum scale are between 440 nm and 550 nm. It is most effective with the new generation of tri-phosphor fluorescent bulbs that have colour temperatures between 3500 and degrees Kelvin, and have a colour-rendering index of 85%.
