2 Hand Held Terminal POCLAIN HYDRAULICS This document is provided to machine manufacturers integrating POCLAIN-HYDRAULICS hydrostatic transmission systems driven by our SmartDrive TM ECUs. It suggests the processes that manufacturers can implement in order to customize these systems. It is recommended that all operations be performed by properly trained engineers. The engineers should read and understand the information given in this document and be authorized by the machine manufacturer. It is essential that the engineers comply with safety instructions to prevent injury. POCLAIN HYDRAULICS designs products that are integrated by its customers in the machines they design. Subsequently POCLAIN HYDRAULICS disclaims liability for consequences of improper integration of its products and of improper set-up of adjustable devices. In the same way, POCLAIN HYDRAULICS may not be liable for incomplete or improper operating and maintenance instructions provided to the end user by the machine manufacturer nor for failures resulting from operations performed by any person using these suggested procedures. A re-certification of the machine may be required for every change in set-up of adjustable devices. In order to offer the best quality service, Poclain Hydraulics recommends to its customers to have applications approved by Poclain Hydraulics. In accordance with its policy of continuous improvement, Poclain Hydraulics reserves the right to modify the specifications of all products described herein without prior notice. 5 POCLAIN HYDRAULICS Hand Held Terminal OPERATIONAL DESCRIPTION OF THE HHT The HHT constitutes a component of the control system of SmartDrive TM hydrostatic transmissions developed by Poclain Hydraulics. The HHT directly modifies the parameters in the ECU, and a configuration cannot be saved. HHT functions This terminal gives you: A display of the system's electrical input/output values; A display of parameters relating to each system, and their set-up; A readout of the components' calibration value and their calibration; A display of software information (name, version and creation date of the software); A display of the errors in progress. Description User levels Access to set-up modules depends on the user level. There are two distinct ones: access to only the functions used by the after-sales service technicians, Only this level is described in detail in this document. access reserved for Poclain Hydraulics experts This level is password protected. Its tree structure is described in this document, but system set-up and calibration require specific training. Warning All the parameters described in this chapter condition the machinery's behavior. Any modification to the value of a parameter must be carried out by a technician trained and authorized by the machinery manufacturer. The value of parameters must be modified with a series of parameters established and validated by the machinery manufacturer. Any modification to the parameters must be indexed and the modifier must inform the machinery manufacturer. Depending on current regulations, these modifications may require re-certification of the machinery. Poclain Hydraulics technical services can advise you on determining your parameters. Poclain Hydraulics may not be liable for incidents resulting from incorrect determination of parameters, or their consequences. Use Connection 05/05/2006 5

11 POCLAIN HYDRAULICS Hand Held Terminal Rundown of parameters of the «Adjust Off Road param» menu In the set-up you can configure the ECU to the system's components. Parameters displayed on the screen Description of parameter Default value Units Service Level Fr Wheel Cir Front wheel circumference (right or left) 5.39 m Rr Wheel Cir Rear wheel circumference (right or left) 5.39 m Restoring the parameters This is the outer circumference of each of the machine's wheels. It is assumed that the wheels on a single axle have the same circumference. The laden circumference values may be given by the machinery manufacturer. The end user will refer to the manufacturer documents (machine or pneumatic) when the wheels are changed. Description Restore factory settings? [esc] = no, [enter] = yes This mode enables you to restore the default parameters. To enter, stop the machine (Offroad) or apply the parking brake (Master or Premier), and confirm or cancel the restoration of the default parameters. 12 Hand Held Terminal POCLAIN HYDRAULICS Calibration Calibration enables the claculator to acquire the electric characteristics of the sensors and enables to detect cabling errors. Navigation To access calibration mode, apply the parking brake (except Offroad). To quit it, release the parking brake (except Offroad). Enter the calibration menu, and using the + and - buttons, scroll through the parts to be set up (joystick, travel pedal, brake pedal, mast level, front steering, etc.) Within each sub-menu, proceed through the calibration steps using the [ENTER] button. The accessories below include potentiometer sensors which have 0/5V supplies; and their analog output is be-tween 0.5V and 4.5V. inclusive. To avoid short circuits, the output voltages on the sensors must be be-tween 5 and 95% inclusive of the supply voltage. Joystick calibration The joystick must include a neutral or forward/rear drive. If this is not the case, please consult our technical services. The four values that must be attained are as follows: Short Low value VLf High value VHf Short circuit range Switch closed: value VLi Switch closed: value VHi circuit range 0 V 0.25 V > 0.5V > 0.5V 4.75 V 5 V Procedure: Joystick Joystick Push joystick in neutral position [ESC] [ENTER] Joystick Push slowly joystick in forward [ESC] [ENTER] Press [ENTER] Push the joystick in neutral position. Push the joystick slowly forward (to leave the neutral position): the VHi value is reached. Next page Joystick Full depression in forward [ESC] [ENTER] Joystick Negative range Joystick Calibration aborted [ESC] Joystick Calibration done [ENTER] Push fully in forward drive: the VHf value is reached. If VHf-VHi <0.5V, and/or VHF>4.75V, calibration has failed. Calibration is therefore aborted. Press [ESC],to return to the initial menu for the sensor being calibrated. If VHF-VHI >0.5V, and VHF<4.75V, calibration continues in the same way for attaining the VLi and VLf values. The validation conditions for these values are the same as VHf and VHi. Once these values have been attained, this screen indicates that the sensor calibration has been successful /05/2006
13 POCLAIN HYDRAULICS Hand Held Terminal Calibration of travel pedal The two values that must be attained are as follows: Short circuit range Low Value LV High value HV Short circuit range 0 V 0.25 V > 1 V 4.75 V 5 V Procedure: Travel pedal Travel pedal Release travel pedal [ESC] [ENTER] Press [ENTER] Release the pedal: LV value reached Description Travel pedal Full depression in forward [ESC] [ENTER] Travel pedal Calibration aborted [ESC] Fully depress pedal: HV value reached If HV-LV<1 V: sensor variation range is insufficient or sensor fitted wrong way round calibration aborted Travel pedal Calibration done [ENTER] If 0.25<LV<4.75 V If 0.25<HV<4.75 V If HV-LV>1 V Calibration has been successful Use Connection 05/05/
14 Hand Held Terminal POCLAIN HYDRAULICS Calibrating the front steering sensor (SmartDrive Off Road) The three values that must be attained are as follows: Short circuit range Left steering VA Wheels straight VB Right steering VC Short circuit range 0 V 0.25 V > 0.5 V > 0.5 V 4.75 V 5 V Procedure: Front steering sensor Press [ENTER] Front steering sensor Make a max left turn [ESC] [ENTER] Front steering sensor Put wheels straight [ESC] [ENTER] Front steering sensor Calibration aborted [ESC] Front steering sensor Make a max right turn [ESC] [ENTER] Front steering sensor Calibration aborted [ESC] Travel pedal Calibration done [ENTER] Turn wheels left to full lock: VA value reached. Position the wheels in the axis of the machine: VB value reached. If VB-VA<0.5 V: calibration aborted. If VB-VA>0.5V, calibration proceeds: Turn wheels right to full lock: VC value reached. If VC-VB<0.5 V: calibration aborted If VC-VB>0.5 V: calibration has been successful. If the machine has 4-wheel steering, the rear steering sensor is calibrated similarly. The calibration of sensors specific to each application is not de-veloped here. Please contact your Poclain Hydraulics application engineer /05/2006
