5 Glossary Wireless Blockage Monitor Operator s Guide Acronym Term Definition App BIT ECU LED Software application Built-in-Test Electronic Control Unit Light Emitting Diode Work Switch A computer program, especially one designed for a mobile device A mechanism built in to Wireless Blockage Monitor that allows that equipment to test itself for, and alert the user of, any possible problems A component of Wireless Blockage Monitor that allows for the communication of the flow sensors to the ipad software app via a LAN connection A semiconductor diode that converts applied voltage to light. In the Wireless Blockage Monitor system, an LED is used to signify the status of the ECU A component of the air seeder equipment that signifies when the equipment is enabled (in the ground) or disabled (out of the ground). When the work switch is disabled, the Wireless Blockage Monitors audio alarm that alerts the operator to blockage of flow in the equipment s runs will automatically be silenced Page 5 of 28

6 1. Introduction IAS s Wireless Blockage Monitor is an acoustic-based monitoring solution that provides quick and accurate notification of blockages anywhere in the air seeder. Operators interface with the Wireless Blockage Monitor via a simple to use software application (app) on an ipad. The Wireless Blockage Monitor requires less wiring than traditional air seeder blockage monitoring systems as the electronic control unit (ECU) communicates with the Wireless Blockage Monitor app wirelessly via a wireless network. 1.1 Technical Assistance If you require support while using Wireless Blockage Monitor, please contact IAS using the information below. IAS technical support is available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time Monday through Friday. During planting season, these hours are expanded to 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Central Time, Sunday through Saturday. IAS is closed during some federal United States holidays. 7 2. Using the Wireless Blockage Monitor 2.1 Using the ipad The Wireless Blockage Monitor software application has been designed to be installed and ran exclusively on an ipad. The ipad is a tablet computer with a touch-screen interface, meaning that no external mouse or keyboard is required; simply press the on-screen buttons to interact with the app. Figure 1: Using the ipad Sections through describe how to use the ipad. NOTE: If you received your ipad preconfigured from IAS, it will be signed into a default Apple ID account. The username for this account is ias+[ipad serial number]@intelligentaguser.com and the password is Pswd1234. Page 7 of 28

8 2.1.1 To power on/power off the ipad To power off the ipad, press and hold the power button for 3 to 5 seconds and then slide the red arrow box to the right (which appears after power button is held). Press the power button again for 3 to 5 seconds to power on the ipad again. When the ipad is powered on, you can press the power button to turn the screen off and put it in sleep mode. Press the power button again, or press the Home button, to exit sleep mode. The battery charge indicator, located on the top right corner of the ipad screen, indicates the current battery charge left on the device and whether it is currently charging To open the Wireless Blockage Monitor app To open the Wireless Blockage Monitor app once you have powered on the ipad, simply press the Wireless Blockage Monitor icon located on the ipad home screen To view the ipad home screen If you would like to return to the ipad s home screen while the Wireless Blockage Monitor screen is open, i.e. close the Wireless Blockage Monitor screen, press the ipad s Home button To increase or decrease ipad volume To increase (turn up) the ipad sound volume, press the top of the ipad volume button (called out in Figure 1). To decrease the ipad sound volume, press the bottom of the ipad volume button. Page 8 of 28

9 2.2 To connect the ipad to the Wireless Network In order to communicate with the Wireless Blockage Monitor system, the ipad must be connected to the Wireless Blockage Monitor s local area wireless network. The Wireless Blockage Monitor wireless network is broadcast by the access point. NOTE: In order to access information from the Wireless Blockage Monitor wireless network, a device must be within proximity of the tractor cab and be configured IAS recommends ensuring that your ipad is connected to the Wireless Blockage Monitor wireless network at the beginning of every seeding session. This is especially important if your ipad is connected to another network, such as a home wireless network, between sessions. To connect the ipad to the access point network, follow the instructions below: 1. Power on the tractor, power on the ipad, and connect the access point power cable to the tractor s cigarette lighter, if you have not done so already. 2. Press the Settings icon on the ipad s home page. 3. Press the Wi-Fi icon on the top left corner of the screen. 4. Ensure that Wi-Fi capabilities are on (the gray bar to the right of Wi-Fi will display ON) 5. Press IASBlockage under Choose a Network list. a. NOTE: If IASBlockage does not appear on the Choose a Network list, wait a few minutes to give the ipad time to search for the network. If, after several minutes, the network does not appear, contact IAS for assistance. 6. A checkmark will appear to the left of the IASBlockage network and the network name will turn blue on the Choose a Network list when the ipad is connected to the network. Page 9 of 28

10 2.3 Configuring the Wireless Blockage Monitor There are four ways in which the Wireless Blockage Monitor may be configured: 1. Automatic configuration of a standard system set-up (Section 2.3.3) 2. Manual configuration of a standard system set-up (Section 2.3.4) 3. Automatic configuration of a nonstandard system set-up (Section 2.3.5) 4. Manual configuration of a nonstandard system set-up (Section 2.3.6) Section describes the difference between automatic and manual configuration and Section describes standard and nonstandard system setups. Refer to the respective section, called out in parenthesis in the above list, for instructions on configuring your air seeder. NOTE: The tractor should be powered on and connected to the air seeder prior to starting any configuration process. Additionally, the ipad must be connected to the Wireless Blockage Monitor wireless network (Section 2.2) About automatic and manual configuration The Wireless Blockage Monitor may be configured in one of two ways: automatically by running material such as seed through the air seeder for a few seconds, or manual configuration without running material through the air seeder. If the Wireless Blockage Monitor is automatically configured by running material through the air seeder for a few seconds, sound will be produced by the material striking the flow sensors, and this will cause the Wireless Blockage Monitor app to automatically detect them. If you are unable to run seed through the air seeder during the configuration process follow the manual configuration instructions About standard and nonstandard system set-ups The Wireless Blockage Monitor may be configured in one of two general system set-ups: standard and nonstandard. Systems in nonstandard set-ups require additional steps during configuration. The Wireless Blockage Monitor is in a nonstandard system set-up if any of the following statements are true: Splitting: Runs contained on the same manifold are connected to two different ECUs. For example, if 18 runs of a 36 run manifold are connected to one ECU and the remaining 18 are connected to a different ECU. Splitting is necessary on manifolds that contain a large number of runs since each ECU can only support 24 runs. Joining: Runs contained on different manifolds are connected to the same ECU. Joining may be necessary with air seeders with manifolds are very close together, or when the total of two manifold s runs is less than 24. Multiple products: More than one product type is being simultaneously run through the air seeder via different air streams. For example, running fertilizer pellets at the same time as seed, but in separate runs. If two product types are being run via different air streams and the Wireless Blockage Monitor is not notified, it may incorrectly display run blockages. NOTE: If two product types are being mixed and run through the same air stream, the statement above does not apply. If none of the above statements are true, the Wireless Blockage Monitor is in a standard system set-up. Page 10 of 28

11 2.3.3 To automatically configure a standard system set-up 1. Open the Wireless Blockage Monitor app on the ipad. 2. Press the Configure icon on the left side of the app home screen. 3. Press Auto-Configure and ensure that the Numbers of ECUs Found is the same as the number of ECUs installed on the system. a. NOTE: If the number does not correctly match, the ECUs are unable to communicate with the Wireless Blockage Monitor app. Ensure that all ECUs are correctly installed. If you are unable to determine why the ECU cannot be detected, you may follow the instructions in Section to manually add a manifold or Section to manually delete a manifold. 4. Allow seed to run through the air seeder for a few seconds while monitoring the Automatic Configuration Installation Summary screen (Figure 2). The sound produced by the material hitting the flow sensors will allow the Wireless Blockage Monitor app to automatically detect them. Figure 2: Automatic Configuration - Installation Summary screen 5. The number of runs (ports) detected by the Wireless Blockage Monitor system will appear. Click Save to continue to the Automatic Configuration Air Seeder Setup screen (Figure 3). a. NOTE: If the number does not correctly match the total number of runs on your air seeder, follow the instructions in Section to manually add a port or Section to delete a port. 6. The Automatic Configuration Air Seeder Setup screen (Figure 3) addresses nonstandard system set-ups. Given that your system is in standard set-up, you should not need to change any of the default settings, but should still ensure that the system has been correctly configured. a. Ensure that the number given in the How many manifolds are being monitored? field matches the number of manifolds on the air seeder system. b. Ensure that No is selected for the Is any manifold connected to more than one ECU? field. Page 11 of 28

12 c. Ensure that 1 is selected for the How many product types are being monitored? field. d. Select the correct ECU serial number from the Which ECU has the work switch attached to it? drop-down menu. i. NOTE: Refer to Section for more information about the work switch feature and for instructions on how to signify that the work switch is in the reverse position. 7. Press Save to continue to the Configuration Summary screen. 8. Given that the Wireless Blockage Monitor assigns ECUs to manifolds based only on alphabetical order, you must check which ECUs have been assigned to which manifold and will likely need to reassign them. a. From the Configuration Summary screen, press Configure. b. Select an ECU from the Edit Current Configuration Select a Manifold to Edit screen. c. Ensure that the serial number given in the ECU1 Serial field is the serial number installed on that manifold. i. NOTE: The serial number may be found on a label on the ECU, on the same side as the port numbers. ii. If an ECU has been incorrectly assigned to a manifold, press the Manifold Name field and type the name of the correct manifold. Refer to Section for manifold naming tips. iii. Ensure that all of the runs have been mapped to the correct port. Refer to Figure 6 to determine how the ports are numbered. iv. Press Save. d. Repeat Steps b and c for all manifolds. e. Once you are finished confirming the correct ECU serial numbers are assigned to each manifold, press Save on the Edit Current Configuration Select a Manifold to Edit screen to complete the configuration process. 13 2.3.4 To manually configure a standard system set-up 1. Open the Wireless Blockage Monitor app on the ipad. 2. Press the Configure icon on the left side of the app home screen. 3. Press Auto-Configure and ensure that the Numbers of ECUs Found is the same as the number of ECUs installed on the system. a. NOTE: If the number does not correctly match, the ECUs are unable to communicate with the Wireless Blockage Monitor app. Ensure that all ECUs are correctly installed. If you are unable to determine why the ECU cannot be detected, you may follow the instructions in Section to manually add a manifold or Section to manually delete a manifold. 4. Since no material is being run through the air seeder, the Automatic Configuration Installation Summary screen (Figure 2) will display that 0 ports have been found. Press Save to continue to the Automatic Configuration Air Seeder Setup screen (Figure 3). 5. The Automatic Configuration Air Seeder Setup screen addresses use of the Wireless Blockage Monitor system in a non-standard configuration. a. Ensure that the number given in the How many manifolds are being monitored? field matches the number of manifolds on the air seeder system. b. Ensure that No is selected for the Is any manifold connected to more than one ECU? field. c. Ensure that 1 is selected for How many product types are being monitored? field. d. Select the correct ECU serial number from the Which ECU has the work switch attached to it? drop-down menu. i. NOTE: Refer to Section for more information about the work switch feature and for instructions on how to signify that the work switch is in the reverse position. 6. Press Save to continue to the Configuration Summary screen and press Configure. 7. Press the name of the first manifold on the Edit Current Configuration Select a Manifold to Edit screen. 8. The Wireless Blockage Monitor will assign 8 ports to each manifold by default if the system was manually configured. If a manifold contains more or less than 8 runs, you must remap the runs to the correct ports. a. Use the drop-down menus next to each run that is incorrectly mapped to select the correct port. If you wish to delete a port, select the Select a port option from the drop-down list. i. EXAMPLE: If there are 12 runs on the manifold, Runs 9 through 12 will not be assigned by default and therefore the user must map them to the correct ports using the drop-down menu. 9. Given that the Wireless Blockage Monitor assigns ECUs to manifolds based only on alphabetical order, you must check which ECUs have been assigned to which manifold and will likely need to reassign them. While still in the Edit Current Configuration Select a Manifold to Edit screen, ensure that the serial number given in the ECU1 Serial field is the serial number installed on that manifold. a. NOTE: The serial number may be found on a label on the ECU, on the same side as the port numbers. b. If an ECU has been incorrectly assigned to a manifold, press the Manifold Name field and type the name of the correct manifold. Refer to Section for manifold naming tips. 10. Once you have ensured that all of the runs for a manifold have been correctly mapped, and the manifold assigned to the correct ECU serial number, press Save. 11. Repeat Steps 8 through 10 through all manifolds. Page 13 of 28

14 2.3.5 To automatically configure a nonstandard system set-up 1. Open the Wireless Blockage Monitor app on the ipad. 2. Press the Configure icon on the left side of the app home screen. 3. Press Auto-Configure and ensure that the Numbers of ECUs Found is the same as the number of ECUs installed on the system. a. NOTE: If the number does not correctly match, the ECUs are unable to communicate with the Wireless Blockage Monitor app. Ensure that all ECUs are correctly installed. If you are unable to determine why the ECU cannot be detected, you may follow the instructions in Section to manually add a manifold or Section to manually delete a manifold. 4. Allow seed to run through the air seeder for a few seconds while monitoring the Automatic Configuration Installation Summary screen (Figure 2). The sound produced by the material hitting the flow sensors will allow the Wireless Blockage Monitor app to automatically detect them. 5. The number of runs (ports) detected by the Wireless Blockage Monitor system will appear. Click Save to continue to the Automatic Configuration Air Seeder Setup (Figure 3) screen. a. The Automatic Configuration Air Seeder Setup screen addresses use of the Wireless Blockage Monitor system in a non-standard configuration. a. If the number of manifolds being monitored by the Wireless Blockage Monitor differs from the number shown under the How many manifolds are being monitored, use the button to decrease the number of the + number to increase the number. By default, this is the same as the number of ECUs installed. i. EXAMPLE: Joining Four 12-run manifolds are installed with two ECUs ii. EXAMPLE: Splitting Two 36-run manifolds are installed with four ECUs b. Select Yes or No under the Is any manifold connected to more than one ECU? field. i. Select Yes if any of the manifolds are split between two ECUs. c. Select 1 or 2 under the How many product types are being monitored? field. One product type is option selected by default. i. EXAMPLE : Two products Seed and fertilizer pellets simultaneously ran through the air seeder via different air streams. If the two products are ran through the same air streams; however, select 1. d. Use the drop-down menu below Which ECU has the work switch attached to it? to select the serial number of the ECU the work switch is connected to. i. NOTE: Refer to Section for more information about the work switch feature and for instructions on how to signify that the work switch is in the reverse position. 7. Press Save to continue to the Automatic Configuration Assign Manifolds screen (Figure 4). a. If you selected 2 in Step 6.c, a Product Type column will appear on the screen. For each manifold, select Product A or Product B to signify what type of material is being run through that manifold. Page 14 of 28

15 i. NOTE: Ensure that you assign product types consistently. For example, if Manifolds 01 and 03 are running seed and Manifolds 02 and 04 are running fertilizer pellets, you may assign Product A to Manifolds 01 and 03 and Product B to Manifolds 02 and 04. b. Use the ECU drop-down menus to assign ECU serial numbers to the manifolds they are connected to. If you selected Yes in Step 6.b, two ECU columns will be displayed on the screen: ECU 1 and ECU 2. For manifolds that are connected to more than one ECU, use the ECU 2 drop-down menu to select the second ECU serial number. c. Once you are done assigning ECU serial numbers and product types (if applicable) to the manifolds, press Next to continue to the Edit a Manifold screen. 8. The Edit a Manifold screen allows you to specify which port every run on your air seeder is connected to. Each Edit a Manifold screen is specific to one manifold. The manifold that you are currently editing is displayed in the subtitle immediately below the screen name (e.g. Editing Manifold 01). a. Use the drop-down lists next to each run name to specify which port that run is connected to. Refer to Figure 6 to determine how the ports are numbered. i. NOTE: The serial numbers of the ECUs labeled ECU 1 and ECU 2 (if applicable) in the run drop-down lists are shown in the ECU1 Serial and ECU2 Serial fields at the top of the screen. ii. NOTE: If two manifolds are joined to one ECU, half of the ports will be assigned to each manifold by default. b. Press Save to advance to the next Edit a Manifold screen. c. Repeat Steps 8.a and 8.b until you have finished editing all of the manifolds. 16 2.3.6 To manually configure a nonstandard system set-up 1. Open the Wireless Blockage Monitor app on the ipad. 2. Press the Configure icon on the left side of the app home screen. 3. Press Auto-Configure and ensure that the Numbers of ECUs Found is the same as the number of ECUs installed on the system. a. NOTE: If the number does not correctly match, the ECUs are unable to communicate with the Wireless Blockage Monitor app. Ensure that all ECUs are correctly installed. If you are unable to determine why the ECU cannot be detected, you may follow the instructions in Section to manually add a manifold or Section to manually delete a manifold. 4. Since no material is being run through the air seeder, the Automatic Configuration Installation Summary screen (Figure 2) will display that 0 ports have been found. Press Save to continue to the Automatic Configuration Air Seeder Setup screen (Figure 3). 5. The Automatic Configuration Air Seeder Setup screen addresses use of the Wireless Blockage Monitor in a non-standard configuration. a. If the number of manifolds being monitored differs from the number of ECUs installed, press the or + buttons to enter the correct number for the How many manifolds are being monitored? Field. i. EXAMPLE: Joining Four 12-run manifolds are installed with two ECUs ii. EXAMPLE: Splitting Two 36-run manifolds are installed with four ECUs b. Select Yes or No under the Is any manifold connected to more than one ECU? field. a. NOTE: Select Yes if any of the manifolds are split between two ECUs. c. Under the How many product types are being monitored? field, select 1 or 2. i. EXAMPLE : Two products Seed and fertilizer pellets simultaneously ran through the air seeder via different air streams. d. Select the correct serial number from the Which ECU has the work switch attached to it? drop-down menu. i. Press Save to continue to the Automatic Configuration Assign Manifolds screen. a. If you have selected 2 in Step 5.c, a Product Type column will appear on the screen. For each manifold, select Product A or Product B to signify what type of material is being run through that manifold. i. NOTE: Ensure that you assign product types consistently. For example, if Manifold 01 and 03 are running seed and Manifolds 02 and 04 are running fertilizer pellets, you may assign Product A to Manifolds 01 and 03 and Product B to Manifolds 02 and 04. b. Use the ECU drop-down menus to assign ECU serial numbers to the manifolds they are connected to. If you selected Yes in Step 5.b, two ECU columns will be displayed on the screen: ECU 1 and ECU 2. For manifolds that are connected to more than one ECU, use the ECU 2 drop-down menu to select the second ECU serial number. c. Once you are done assigning ECU serial numbers and product types (if applicable) to the manifolds, press Next to continue to the Edit a Manifold screen. Page 16 of 28

17 7. The Edit a Manifold screen allows you to specify which port every run on your air seeder is connected to. Each Edit a Manifold screen is specific to one manifold. The manifold that you are currently editing is displayed in the subtitle immediately below the screen name (e.g. Editing Manifold 01). a. Use the drop-down lists next to each run name to specify which port that run is connected to. Refer to Figure 6 to determine how the ports are numbered. i. NOTE: The serial numbers of the ECUs labeled ECU 1 and ECU 2 (if applicable) in the run drop-down lists are shown in the ECU1 and ECU2 Serial fields at the top of the screen ii. NOTE: Runs will be assigned by default based on the manifold configuration. 1. If the manifold is neither split nor joined, Runs 1 through 8 will be assigned to ECU 1 Ports 1 through 8, respectively. Additional runs will not be assigned to any port. 2. If runs of a manifold are split between two ECUs, Runs 1 through 8 will be assigned to the first ECU (ECU 1 Ports 1 through 8) and Runs 9 through 16 will be assigned to the second ECU (ECU 2 Ports 1 through 8). 3. If two manifolds are joined to one ECU, Runs 1 through 8 of the first manifold will be assigned to ECU 1 Ports 1 through 8 and Runs 1 through 8 of the second manifold will be assigned to ECU 1 Ports 9 through 16. b. Press Save to advance to the next Edit a Manifold screen. c. Repeat Steps 7.a and 7.b until you have finished editing all of the manifolds. Page 17 of 28

18 2.4 To manually add components to the Wireless Blockage Monitor If the Wireless Blockage Monitor app was not able to detect all of the manifolds or ports of the air seeder during the automatic configuration process, you may manually enter them into the Wireless Blockage Monitor app. These instructions are included in Sections through Additionally, this section includes instructions for reserving the work switch position and a further description of this feature. 19 2.4.1 To manually add a manifold 1. Press the Configure icon on the app home screen. 2. Press Configure on the Configuration Summary screen. 3. From the Edit Current Configuration screen (Figure 5), press the + button, located on the upper right corner of the gray box in the middle of the screen. 4. Perform the following steps while on the Edit a Manifold screen (Figure 7). a. Rename the Manifold (optional). Press the Manifold Name field. An on-screen keyboard will appear. Using the on-screen keyboard, type the desired manifold name. For guidance on this topic, refer to Section i. NOTE: To access the numeral keys, press the.?123 button on the onscreen keyboard. b. Specify ECU serial number(s) assigned to manifold. Use the ECU 1 Serial Number drop-down list to select the serial number of the ECU installed on the manifold. If more than one ECU is installed on the manifold, select the remaining ECU serial number from the ECU2 Serial drop-down list. c. Assign Product Type. Select Product A or Product B based on the material that will run through the manifold. Refer to Step 7 in Section for more information about this step. If only one material will be run through the air seeder, ensure that Product A is selected for all manifolds. d. Add flow sensors to the manifold. Using the drop-down menu next to each run, select which ECU port the respective run s sensor flow hose is connected to. Refer to Figure 6 to determine how the runs are numbered. i. Repeat this step for each run contained on that manifold. ii. EXAMPLE: If you are adding Run 4 onto an ECU with the serial number , and that run is connected to the port labeled 4 on that ECU, select Port 4 from the drop-down menu. iii. NOTE: ECU 1 and ECU 2 refer to the ECUs specified in the ECU 1 Serial and ECU 2 Serial fields located at the top of the screen. ECU 2 is only applicable if the manifold is connected to more than one ECU. 5. Press Save when you have finished adding the ECU and its flow sensors. 20 2.4.2 To manually add a port If a port was not detected during automatic configuration, follow the instructions below to add it. Additionally, you may follow the steps below to note when a flow sensor is attached to a different ECU port number. 1. Press the Configure icon on the app home screen. 2. Press Configure on the Configuration Summary screen. 3. Press the name of the manifold that the port is connected to from the Edit Current Configuration Select a Manifold to Edit screen (Figure 5). 4. Using the drop-down menu next to each run, select which ECU port the respective run s sensor flow hose is connected to. Refer to Figure 6 to determine how the runs are numbered. a. NOTE: IAS recommends connecting the run labeled 1 in Figure 6 to the port numbered 1 on the ECU. b. NOTE: ECU 1 and ECU 2 refer to the ECUs specified in the ECU 1 Serial and ECU 2 Serial fields located at the top of the screen. 21 2.4.3 To manually delete a port 1. Press the Configure icon on the app s home screen. 2. Press Configure on the Configuration Summary screen. 3. Press the name of the manifold where the extra port(s) are located on the Edit Current Configuration screen (Figure 5). 4. Using the drop-down menu immediately to the right of the flow sensor you wish to delete, select Select a port. a. Ensure that the remaining flow sensors are connected to the correct port, i.e. Run 1 is attached to port 1 of that ECU. 5. Press Save when you have finished deleting the flow sensors from that ECU. EXAMPLE: If your air seeder has a 16 run per manifold set up, but one manifold displays 17 runs, select Select a port from the drop-down menu immediately to the right of Run 17. Ensure that Runs 1 through 16 are displaying as being connected to the correct ports of the ECU (ports 1 through 16) To manually delete a manifold 1. Press the Configure icon on the app s home screen. 2. Press Configure on the Configuration Summary screen. 3. Press the trash can icon on the top left of the gray box in the middle of the Edit Current Configuration screen (Figure 5). 4. Press the name(s) of the manifolds you would like to delete. IMPORTANT: If ECUs or flow sensors that were manually entered into the Wireless Blockage Monitor app continuously appear to be blocked on the Wireless Blockage Monitor app, the equipment may have been installed incorrectly. Check the equipment and ensure that it has been installed correctly. If you continue to have problems, contact IAS for assistance To change the ECU labeled Master ECU The ECU that is deemed as the Master ECU is typically the one closest to the Wireless Blockage Monitor work switch s installation location. The Master ECU is connected to both the wiring harness and the work switch. To change which ECU is labeled the Master ECU: 1. Press the Configure icon on the app s home screen. 2. Press Configure on the Configuration Summary screen. 3. Using the Master ECU drop-down menu, located on the bottom of the Edit Current Configuration screen (Figure 5), select the name of the ECU that should be labeled as the Master ECU. 4. Press Save To reverse the work switch NOTE: This procedure only has to be performed if the air seeder s existing work switch uses the reverse method, as described in the Section Press the Configure icon on the app s home screen. 2. Press Configure on the Configuration Summary screen. 3. On the Edit Current Configuration screen (Figure 5), drag the gray box next to Work Switch Reserved (on the bottom of the screen) to the right so that ON is shown. The change will automatically be saved. Page 21 of 28

22 Understanding the work switch Air seeder work switches use one of two methods to determine when the implement is in the ground (engaged): 1) default method: the work switch is engaged (magnet is close to the work switch) when the air seeder is in the ground. Likewise, the work switch is disengaged (magnet and work switch are apart) when the air seeder is out of the ground. 2) reversed method: the work switch is disengaged when the air seeder is in the ground. Likewise, the work switch is engaged when the air seeder is out of the ground. If the work switch has been installed using the reversed method, you must follow the steps in Section to reserve the works switch in the Wireless Blockage Monitor app. Page 22 of 28

23 2.5 Monitoring the ECU status LED A status LED is located on the front of every ECU (Figure 8). The status LED signifies the health of the ECU. Multiple built-in-tests (BITs) are periodically ran against the ECUs. If a BIT fails, the ECU s status LED will change from flashing red to solid red (as described in Table 1). If the Wireless Blockage Monitor is not functioning properly, check the BIT screen of the Wireless Blockage Monitor app (Figure 9) to determine if any ECU issues are causing the problem. Additionally, an alarm will sound if the Wireless Blockage Monitor app is unable to communicate with an ECU installed on the system for longer than five seconds (unless this feature has been disabled. See Section for more details). 25 2.6 About the audio alarm Whenever a run or total manifold blockage is detected by the Wireless Blockage Monitor, an audio alarm will sound to alert the operator of the blockage. The audio alarm allows for operators to seed without having to constantly monitor the Blockage screen of the Wireless Blockage Monitor app on the ipad for blockages To silence the audio alarm when a blockage is detected Once the audio alarm has sounded to indicate a blockage, you may silence it simply by pressing anywhere on the Blockage screen of the Wireless Blockage Monitor app on the ipad (Figure 10). This will silence the audio alarm until another blockage is detected. Figure 10: To silence an audio alarm, tap anywhere on the Blockage screen All blockages that have been detected recently may be viewed from the History pop-up screen To enable or disable the audio alarm If you never want the audio alarm to sound, even when a blockage is detected, follow the instructions below: 1. Press the Blockage icon on the app home screen, if you are not already in the Blockage screen. 2. Press Settings. The Settings pop-up screen will appear over the Blockage screen. 3. Slide the gray box to the right of Enable audio alarms when runs are blocked to the left so that OFF is displayed. This setting will automatically be saved. If you would like to again enable the audio alarm, simply slide the gray box to the right so that ON is displayed. Page 25 of 28

26 2.6.3 To select how long a run is blocked before the audio alarms sounds If you want to be notified more or less quickly when a blockage is detected by the Wireless Blockage Monitor, follow the instructions below: 1. Press the Blockage icon on the app home screen, if you are not already in the Blockage screen. 2. Press Settings. The Settings pop-up screen will appear over the Blockage screen. 3. Use the When blocked for slider to adjust the amount of time. The current selected time will be displayed to the right of the slider. a. To increase the amount of time the run is blocked before the audio alarm sounds, slide the circle to the right. b. To decrease the amount of time the run is blocked before the audio alarm sounds, slide the circle to the left. The setting will automatically be saved To enable or disable the inactive ECU alarm The Wireless Blockage Monitor app will continuously check if all of the ECUs installed on the system are communicating properly. If the Wireless Blockage Monitor app does not receive data from an ECU for more than five seconds, an alarm will sound to alert the operator of a potential problem with the ECU. 2.7 Troubleshooting a blocked run or manifold When a blockage, or blockages, is displayed on the Blockage screen of the Wireless Blockage Monitor app, an audio alarm will sound (unless you have disabled the audio alarm) and the run that has become blocked will be marked as a red circle with the final run number in its center. Figure 6 shows the suggested order for installing the flow sensor hoses to the ECU. To make it easier to identify which run is blocked, IAS recommends marking the port number that run s flow sensor hose is connected to on a location easily visible on the hose using a paint pen or other permanent marking device. Additionally, to make it easier to identify which manifold a blocked run is located, or when a total manifold blockage occurs, change how they are labeled on the Wireless Blockage Monitor app. For instructions on how to rename the manifolds, refer to Section Page 26 of 28

27 2.7.1 To rename a manifold 1. Press the Configure icon on the app home screen. 2. Press Configure on the Configuration Summary screen. 3. Press the first manifold name on the list on the Edit Current Configuration screen 4. Press the Manifold Name field (which is currently the ECU s serial number) on the Edit a Manifold screen. An on-screen keyboard will display. 5. Using the on-screen keyboard, type the desired manifold name. IAS recommends using names such as Manifold 1 or 1. Press Save. a. NOTE: To access the numeral keys, press the.?123 button on the on-screen keyboard. b. NOTE: No two manifolds may have the same name at the same time. 6. Repeats Steps 4 through 6 for all of the manifolds installed on the system, naming the manifolds respectively (i.e. name the second manifold on the list 2 or Manifold 2). a. EXAMPLE: If an air seeder contains four manifolds and the operator has renamed the manifolds following the procedure above, the manifolds will display on the Blockage screen of the Wireless Blockage Monitor app with Manifold 1 on the far left of the screen and Manifold 4 on the far right of the screen. When viewing these manifolds in real life while facing the tractor, the numbers will correspond with the Blockage screen, with the manifold labeled 1 being located on the far left of the air seeder, and the manifold labeled 6 being located on the far right of the air seeder.
