PLANNING INFORMATION A. EFFECTIVITY: This Service Bulletin applies to Meggitt Safety Systems Inc (MSSI) Regulator Solenoid Valve Assembly part numbers 110C113-2, -5, and -6. Sub assembly has been designed for drop-in replacement of parts list items 7, 8, 9, and 11 of drawing 110C113 and for development of the 110C113-6 assembly. B. REASON: The weldment subassembly provides a convenient maintenance solution to users interested in replacing their system s solenoid valves. The subassembly includes a welded Swagelok fitting at the high pressure inlet of the solenoid valve. This configuration is consistent with the as qualified Regulator Solenoid Valve assembly. Inclusive, the valve body of the weldment is made from 300 series stainless steel, matching the material of the mating Swagelok connector and providing greater ease in manufacture (compared to 430 series stainless steel of the previous design). PARTS DISPOSITION As stated, the subassembly is a drop-in replacement for the weldment consisting of items 7, 8, 9, and 11 of drawing 110C113, applicable to the 110C113-2 and 110C113-5 assemblies. Also, the 110C113-6 assembly, containing the subassembly, is designed as a direct replacement for assembly 110C A direct replacement for the 110C113-5 assembly is not currently available; contact factory for 110C113-5 replacement requirement. PARTS COMPARISON No mechanical or electrical interfaces at the next level of assembly are changed with the subassembly. The principal difference is a switch of the basic solenoid valve component from Kip valve 6X313 to Peter Paul valve H22X00720CH. As described in the following section, Peter Paul valve H22X00720CH is 1E qualified to meet all requirements for INSITU applications. Both valves operate in accordance with the same theory of operation; as such their general operation and construction is similar. For differences in the poppet and solenoid assemblies, see drawings and respectively (Attachment 1). These drawings also indicate spare parts procurement provisioning. As stated in Section B, the solenoid valve body is machined from 300 series stainless steel rather than 430 series stainless steel. The 300 series stainless steel valve body provides similarity in material to the mating Swagelok connector that forms the weldment. The material similarity facilitates ease in manufacture. F. QUALIFICATION The H22X00720CH Peter paul Solenoid Valve underwent a full 1E qualification program for INSITU application. This program consisted of: thermal aging, irradiation, seismic vibration, and LOCA testing. The qualification results are outlined in Table 2. D and later revisions. Testing throughout the qualification was performed on the same qualification unit, Peter Paul Solenoid Valve H22X00720CH. The initial qualification program was designed to qualify the unit for ex-containment applications, the difference being in the LOCA test set-up and modifications to the solenoid valve. Subsequent LOCA testing of the original qualification unit properly fitted the component for INSITU applications. Since INSITU LOCA testing is more severe than ex-containment LOCA testing, only INSITU LOCA test data is 3 of 6

REPLACEMENT SCHEDULE Figure 2: LOCA Profile Replacement scheduling is in accordance with the regular maintenance schedule outlined in the Operations and Maintenance Manual, typically 12 years; or as required for customer service issues. Adhere to the guidelines of Table 1 for future provisioning. E. MATERIAL COST AND AVAILABILITY Material cost and availability are obtainable upon request. L: OTHER PUBLICATIONS AFFECTED The latest version of the 110C113 and drawing will be provided, upon request, with new orders.
