Venco s range of potters wheels comprise two basic series. 1) Cone drive 2) The Directdrive. The elegant, yet simple, design of all models ensures years of trouble free throwing with minimal maintenance. The splash trays of all Venco wheels are cast from marine grade aluminium, which makes them extremely strong and corrosion resistant. Similarly the wheel-heads on all models are die-cast aluminium and have machined concentric rings to aid centering. Venco s latest and most advanced wheel. The Direct-drive uses a state of the art motor and control system. The brushless, permanent magnet motor has a beautifully smooth power band that produces enormous amounts of torque, even at low speeds. The motor directly drives the wheel head, which minimizes the number of rotating parts for maintenance free and smooth operation no belts or pulleys. The wheel comes standard with a very generously sized, fixed tray, die cast from marine grade aluminum for high strength and durability. The 300mm (13 ) wheel head is also cast from corrosion resistant, marine-grade, aluminum and is fitted with bat pins. For ease of cleaning and to protect the bearings from water, the outside rim of the wheel head overlaps a collar that protrudes upwards from the tray. For extra security this is duplicated again further in, preventing clay from ever venturing under the wheel head, making cleaning the tray as simple as quickly wiping waste out of the drain hole The body and legs are made from heavy-duty, brushed finish, stainless steel which like the tray will stand the test of time in any school or studio conditions. The wheel s structure and tray are guaranteed for 10 years The Direct-drive may be assembled in three configurations. a) Standard sit-down b) table-top /floor and Stand-up. Optional clip on tray tables are available, which are made from durable marine grade plywood. A riser bat is also available to raise the wheel head above the level of the tray rim. The optional clip on seat uses the potters body weight to further anchor the wheel to the ground. Shown with optional clip on shelves. A large drain hole is provided for easy tray cleaning and a bucket fits nicely under the wheel to collect waste. 4 Cone Drive Potters Wheels The Venco cone-drive wheels (No.3, No.5, No6) have a mechanically operated speed control that automatically increases torque at low speeds. These wheels are incredibly robust and are the wheels of choice in many schools and studios across the world. The body of all Venco cone drive wheels are constructed from steel, which is protected firstly by zinc plating then powder-coating. CE certified models are available for the European market. A 3 year warranty is standard with these wheels. The fact that OVER 40,000 are in use worldwide is testament to the design and quality of these wheels. Venco offer three different ranges of pug mills; 1) Industrial Series - High capacity, all stainless steel. 2) Mk2 series traditional, single auger aluminium barrel and 3) Super-twin stainless steel mixing/extruding Pugmill. This comprehensive range caters for all users from clay manufacturers to classrooms and small studios. Industrial Series high capacity, all stainless steel pug mills The Venco Industrial Series pug mills are the workhorse of our range. The heavy-duty design and all stainless steel construction make these units ideal for large-scale clay production and processing of up to 3000kg/hr (6600lb/hr). The Industrial series are manufactured on a semi- custom basis. This allows a degree of user- customisation of the final product. Various options include different motor capacities, mechanical and electronic variable speed drive, barrel diameters and nozzle orifice dimensions (expansion chambers). Please speak with your supplier about the various options and modifications available. The Venco Industrial Series is available with an optional mechanical variable speed drive. Simply turning the handwheel adjacent to the motor varies the auger speed hence the production capacity. The auger speed is infinitely variable between 7-28RPM. The Venco drive system is far superior to electronic variable speed drives that are more commonly available. The Venco system actually creates a torque boost that is inversely proportional to the auger speed chosen. i.e. if the auger speed is halved the auger torque is doubled. This feature creates exceptional pushing power for even extruding very stiff clay. The other major advantage of this system is that the motor always turns at a constant speed, for which it was designed, hence operating more efficiently and with stable cooling from the motor driven cooling fan. 5

6 The large volume, twin auger mixing chamber efficiently blends the raw ingredients, and permits effortless feeding. The twin augers, directly beneath the feed hopper, ensure the clay is swiftly drawn away and effectively mixed. The Venco Industrial Series pug mills are fitted with an innovative feed system that allows for safe and effortless feeding of clay into the twin mixing augers. This unique design, completely shields the user from the rotating blades without the need for a restrictive safety grille, which is commonly used in traditional lever/pressing systems. The stainless steel, mesh type, shredder screen may be removed without disassembling the barrel, which is a definite feature on a machine of this physical size. All stainless components are electro polished - this further increases the corrosion resistance of the pug mill. This process concentrates chromium at the surface of the stainless steel producing harder and more durable surface finish. 7 Mk2 Series Traditional, Single Auger, Pug Mills The Mk2 series is Venco s most popular range of pug mills for professional and home potters. This well proven design (over 8500 manufactured) is distributed to more than 30 countries worldwide. The Mk2 range comprises three different capacity units. The Venco Mk2 series pug mills are primarily used to re-claim moist scrap and de-air clay prior to use. The common feature of the Mk2 range is the double helix, stainless steel, auger driven by a high quality, industrial gear-motor. The heavy-duty barrels are cast from corrosion resistant, marine-grade aluminium to ensure a long and trouble free service life. A 3 year warranty is offered on the Mk2 range of pug mills. Each of the three models come standard with a stainless steel safety grille (CE certified) mounted in the feed hopper. De-airing models come with a reliable, high performance, vacuum pump fitted with a dirt/water filter to effectively de-air clay to a very high standard. Stainless-steel mesh shredder screens are used (not simple perforated-plate style screens) for lower processing resistance, hence allowing reduced motor capacity for economical operation. 9 SUPER Twin Modular System (all stainless steel) The SUPER-twin is Venco s most recent pug mill design. The SUPER-twin was designed using a 'clean sheet of paper' approach incorporating totally new and innovative concepts. We have listened to what users have suggested resulting in a pug mill that is high quality, adaptable (one unit for mixing, re-cycling, de-airing, extruding) and incredibly easy to use and maintain, yet at an affordable price. All Stainless Steel. All components that are in contact with the clay are stainless steel to ensure negligible corrosion and clay contamination even when using fine porcelains. Tool-less barrel removal. Opening the barrel to clean a pug mill is a chore that no-one enjoys. Firstly finding the correct tools and then wrestling with frozen bolts then to finally applying gaskets to ensure a good vacuum is achievable. The designers of the SUPER-twin have got around this by creating an innovative bayonet style locking system. This allows both the barrel and nozzle to be removed quickly and simply without using a single tool. Similarly the shredder screen may be removed without tools in less than a minute. Innovative rotating bucket feed hopper. A totally new approach was taken when the feed hopper was designed. The rotating bucket totally shields the user from the auger at all times making this one of the safest pug mills available. Venco s innovative concept also allows effortless feeding of larger pieces of clay and scrap directly to the twin mixing augers no cumbersome long levers, no heavy work just simple clever design. Twin auger mixing chamber. The large stainless steel mixing chamber houses two, inter-meshing, augers that efficiently crush and mix scrap before pushing out onto the extra-length, single, extruding auger. More blades are fitted to the extra length auger to provide greater extruding power for making tiles and other sections. Modular System. The SUPER-twin has been designed as a modular system, so the user need only purchase what they need for the process required. At any stage the unit may be up-graded (or down-graded) easily and quickly in a modular clip-on approach. The options may be purchased at the same time as the base unit or at a later stage as required. Since the SUPER-twin has been designed as a modular system, up grading is a very simple and quick task, requiring no tools or mechanical expertise. The same unit can be used for mixing/blending, recycling dry scrap, de-airing and extruding. Simply chose the module for the job and clip it on. 9
