2 Congratulations! You have just purchased the finest Air Induction & Filtration system for your car at any price! The AEM Performance Air Induction System is the result of extensive development on a wide variety of cars. It is the most advanced short pipe air intake system on the market. Each system is specifically engineered for its particular application. All AEM Brute Force Intake Systems deliver maximum performance gains through lightweight, all-aluminum, mandrel-bent tubing that is tuned in both length and diameter. The tube length and diameter are matched for each specific engine to give power over a broad RPM range. Unlike plastic systems that use a continually diverging cross-section, we take advantage of the acoustical energy in the inlet duct to promote cylinder filling during the intake valve opening event. Every intake is coated with a high-gloss, heat-reducing Zirconia based powder coating. This special blend of powder coating helps reduce heat penetration, which in turn reduces the temperature of the inlet air charge. The cooler inlet air temperature translates to more power during the combustion process because cool air is denser than warm air. The air mass flow to the engine is increased because of the increased airflow and reduced inlet temperature, which translates to more power. 3 Read and understand these instructions BEFORE attempting to install this product. 1) Getting Started a) b) c) d) Make sure vehicle is parked on a level surface. Set parking brake. Disconnect negative battery terminal. If engine has run within the past two hours let it cool down. 2) Removing the stock air inlet system Unplug Sensor Loosen both hose clamps a) Loosen the hose clamp on the intake tube at the throttle body and also at the Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF). Remove inlet tube. b) Unplug the MAF Sensor connector. Loosen and remove. Loosen and remove bolts. c) Loosen the bolt anchoring the MAF sensor and remove. The bolt head is located underneath the sensor. d) Loosen the two remaining bolts on the opposite side of the MAF sensor and remove. 3

4 Loosen hose clamp and remove MAF sensor. Loosen and remove nuts. Remove air box. e) Loosen hose clamp and remove MAF sensor. Be careful not to damage sensor or screen. f) Loosen and remove the remaining two nuts on the air box. Remove the air box. 3) Installation of the AEM Brute Force Intake System. When installing the Brute Force Intake System, DO NOT completely tighten the hose clamps or mounting tab hardware until instructed to do so later in these instructions. Insert M8 bolt into the washer. a) Attach reducer coupler and hose clamps. Do not completely tighten. b) Insert M8 bolt into the provided washer. 4

5 Tighten rubber mount to M8 bolt. Insert M8 bolt up through the hole. c) Insert the bolt and washer into the hole in the MAF sensor bracket. d) Tighten female end of the rubber mount to the bolt in step 3c. Insert pipe. Secure the pipe with the M8 washer and M8 nylok nut on the rubber mount. Attach coupler and insert MAF sensor. f) Insert inlet pipe and align with the rubber mount. Secure the pipe onto the rubber mount with provided washer and nylok nut. g) Attach the coupler to the inlet pipe and secure with hose clamps. Insert the MAF sensor. Note MAF direction. h) Reattach the MAF sensor wire harness connector. Reattach connector. 5

6 i) Attach the filter element to the MAF sensor and secure. Check for clearance. Before After 4) Re-Assemble the vehicle. a) Inspect the engine bay for any loose tools and check that all fasteners that were moved or removed are properly tight. b) Check clearance between the MAF sensor and the alternator. c) Reconnect negative battery terminal. d) Check for clearance on the inlet pipe, bracket and filter.
