1 Suspension System REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Wheel Bearing, Hub, Knuckle, Upper Arm and Lower Arm Rear Special Tool(s) 3. Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustrations and tables. To remove individual parts, only carry out the listed steps: Remover, Front Wheel Hub Part Steps 205-D070 (D93P-1175-B) or equivalent Wheel knuckle 1-13 Wheel bearing 1-13 Lower arm 6, 7, Upper arm 4, 5, 26, 27, Upper arm bushing Remover, Drive Pinion Bearing (rearward mounting) Cone 205-D002 (D79L-4621-A) or equivalent Toe link 2, 3, 14, CAUTION: Do not loosen the axle wheel hub retainer until the wheel and tire are removed from the vehicle. Wheel bearing damage will occur if the wheel bearing is unloaded with the weight of the vehicle applied. NOTE: Have an assistant press the brake pedal to keep the axle from turning. NOTE: Only carry out this step if servicing the wheel knuckle and wheel bearing. Remove the nut and washer. Discard the nut. 2. Remove the parking brake shoes. For additional information, refer to Wheel Alignment in this section. Item 1: Axle Nut 1. CAUTION: Do not use a hammer to separate the outboard CV joint from the hub. Damage to the threads and internal CV joint components can result. Using the special tool, press the outboard CV joint until it is loose from the hub. 2. Position the parking brake cable aside and remove the wheel knuckle. Item 10: Wheel Hub 1. Using a suitable press, remove the wheel hub.
6 Suspension System Remove the brake disc shield. 2. NOTE: RH side only. 3. NOTE: This step may not be necessary if the inner wheel bearing race remains in the wheel knuckle after removing the wheel hub. If necessary, using the special tool, press the inner wheel bearing race from the wheel hub. Remove the fuel filler intermediate tube retainers. Item 13: Wheel Bearing 1. Using a suitable press and adapter, remove the wheel bearing. Item 30: Upper Arm-to-Frame Bolt (Forward Mounting) Item 26: Upper Arm-to-Frame Bolt (Rearward Mounting) Item 17: Stabilizer Bar Link-to-Stabilizer Bar Nut and Bushing 1. CAUTION: Make sure that the upper arm-to-frame mounting s are routed through the frame and the bushing before tightening.
