2 Installation To properly work, the Rapid VPD module needs the following: High-pressure pump signal (Brown cable of the Rapid module wiring) A reference signal (Grey cables of the Rapid module wiring) Connection to the ground (Black cable of the Rapid module wiring) Connections table Release 1.2 Page 2 of 6 10/02/2014

Select the one more on the right if you look at the pump from the back, which is the one more on the right with the injectors tubes turned towards the observer (Pict.2-3). Connection to the turbo pressure reference signal for PERKINS engines (GREY cables of the RAPID module wiring) To be activated, the Rapid VPD module needs a signal that indicates the engine load.

From the tractor original control unit, a band of cables covered by a rough black pipe comes out, which goes towards the engine. Open this pipe. Identify the Blue cable marked X731 (see Pict.4).

4 Connection to the turbo pressure reference signal for PERKINS engines (GREY cables of the RAPID module wiring) To be activated, the Rapid VPD module needs a signal that indicates the engine load. On Massey Ferguson tractors you will use the turbo pressure sensor signal. From the tractor original control unit, a band of cables covered by a rough black pipe comes out, which goes towards the engine. Open this pipe. Identify the Blue cable marked X731 (see Pict.4). Weld the cable to the GREY cable of the Rapid module wiring. Pict.4 NOTE: In case the cable is not marked X731 After opening the pipe, carry out this test on the cables: Use a multimeter to measure the continuous voltage (Vcc or V=). Turn on the engine. Ground the black push rod. Check the voltage of the cables by means of the red push rod. The signal cable is the one where you will measure approximately 0.5/1 V with the accelerator released and approximately 3-4 V with the accelerator pressed to the bottom. Tightly weld the GREY cable of the RAPID module wiring to the cable you have identified. Connection to the turbo pressure reference signals for SISU engines (GREY cables of the RAPID module wiring) On the intake manifold the turbo pressure sensor is fixed (picture 5-6). The signal cable is the one where you will measure approximately 2 V with the accelerator released and approximately V with the accelerator pressed to the bottom. Tightly weld the GREY cable of the RAPID module wiring to the cable you have identified. Connect the Rapid module to the wiring. In case you have purchased the Rapid F08SW008 switch (optional), connect the 2-pin connector port male to female port connector wiring Rapid. Fix the Rapid module and the kit components far from any excessive heat sources. Description of the digital parameters of the RAPID VPD module The RAPID VPD module can be checked by some digital parameters that can be modified by means of the device called CALIBRATION CONSOLE (F08IP-002 code, supplied as an option). The RAPID VPD module parameters that can be modified are SET, TH1, TH2, TH3: SET: it regulates the fuel supply enhancement. By increasing this parameter you can increase the amount of injected diesel, by decreasing it you will decrease this amount. If the parameter is set at 000 the vehicle has the same performances as the original one. TH1: it regulates the RAPID module activation threshold by taking the pressure signal measured by the PRAL module as a reference. The RAPID module therefore is not activated until the turbo pressure exceeds the TH1 value. TH2: secondary threshold (it is not used in this application, set at 000 and do not modify it). TH3: it checks the increase/decrease ramp of the modification. By increasing this parameter the maximum modification level is reached more quickly. CAUTION: The variation of the standard pre-set parameters in the RAPID module by the manufacturer must be agreed with Dimsport technical assistance. Every new calibration must be tested on the vehicle when it works. Release 1.2 Page 5 of 6 10/02/2014

6 Notes It is possible to commute the RAPID module switch from on to off in any conditions of vehicle use, even though we recommend activating and deactivating the RAPID module when the vehicle is not working or with a low load. If the switch is not connected to the special 2-way connector of the RAPID module wiring, the additional module remains constantly activated. If you wish to use an alternative switch, please contact the technical assistance. Warning CAUTION: An excessive increase in performances could damage the engine or lead to the activation of the vehicle electronic protections. Please make sure that the vehicle works properly, namely the engine, before installing the Rapid module: a performance increase could highlight some potential defects of functioning. We do not recommend assembling the Rapid module if the engine or the injection system have already been modified. NB: an excessive increase in performances could lead to damage the engine or to activate the electronic control unit protections. Do not turn on the controls board if all the connectors are not connected. If you do not follow this instruction there would not be any damages, but the control unit would memorize an error. The Rapid module is designed for 12 to 30 Volt supply voltages, therefore make sure this limit is not exceeded by checking, before the installation, that the battery, the regulating circuit and the alternator work properly. Fix the RAPID module and its parts far from any excessive heat sources.
