6 General Information Nameplates The machine is identified by two plates: one on the motor, with its nominal data, and the second one on the machine with the CE mark. The serial number is very important: you have too mention it for every request for spare parts, information and service. Machine description Overview The single head machine 40K/2 Mv DPHAA is engineered for manual operations of polishing and buffing of metal items. The machine is engineered to be used by only one operator This machine can use only polishing and buffingg wheels, and not tools such as grinding stones orr cutting discs. The use of this tools is severely forbidden,, and very dangerous forr the operator. The machine is made by: the motor, the pedestal complete of height adjustment system, the belt arm, the electric equipment, the lamps and the t control panel. Machine specifications model 40K/2 Mv DPHA Power supply 3 Phase + ground + neutral, 400V 50Hz Motor rating [kw] 3 Speed [rpm] Variable from 3003 to 3000 Protection classification IP 544 Insulation class F Table 1 Safety devices The machine is equipped with safety devices needed to ensure the safety of the operator. Thesee devices must not be removed or deactivated for any reason o o o o o ELECTRIC EQUIPMENT: in compliance with the norm UNI EN WHEEL PROTECTION GUARD: it covers the buffing wheels and convey the dust producedd during the working process. EMERGENCY STOP: there are three e stop: one on the control panel, one onn the motor, plus the foot pedal. MOTOR BRAKE: it is able to stop the spindle in a few seconds. When the motor is not powered, the brake is engaged and the motor shaft iss locked. DOOR INTERLOCK: when the wheel guard is open, the machine cannot run; also when the machine is running, the door guard can t c be open. 6
7 o ELECTRIC CABINET: the cabinet can be opened only when the main switch iss OFF IMPORTANTT The wheel guard must never be removed: it must always cover the rotating parts and ensure the bestt possible dust catching.. 7
8 Machine installation Lifting Warning: it s not allowed to lift the machine using ropes below the motor. This couldd cause major damages to the height adjustment system. To move the machine, it s necessary to use a forklift, rising it from the base of the pedestal. The machine is shipped fixed on two wooden blocks, to allow an easier lifting slidingg the forks below the pedestal. Keep the machine balanced while moving. 40K/2 Mv DPHA weight: 500 Kg Installation The machine must be fixed to the floor using 4 bolts through the holes in the pedestal. Consider at least a space of 1 meterr from every side of the machine. Lights installationn Install the lamps as shown in the picture below. The height of the lamps can be adjusted, using the holes in the frames. Be careful while moving the frames! 16 Electromagnetic disc braking The main motor is equipped with an electromagnetic brake, This brake is engineered to ensure, at rest, the intrinsic safety. When the electromagnet (1) is excited, the armature plate (2) is attracted to the electromagnet thanks to the springs (3). In this way he disc (4), coupled with the shaft thanks to the t splined hub, can rotate freely. When there s no tension, the springs pull the armature plate against thee disc, braking the shaft. Braking torque setting The K7 brake that equips the motorr of the machine can be adjusted accordingg to the braking torque, the load, the speed and the braking time. It s possible to adjust the braking changingg the distance between the electromagnet and the adjusterr ring. Adjust the braking torque according to the following table, which showss the brakingg torque in relation to the distance from the electromagnet to the adjuster ring. DISTANCE BETWEEN ELECTROMAGNET AND ADJUSTER RING [mm] BRAKING TORQUE [Nm] Table 2 According to Pic. 8, follow these instructions: o Switch off the machine o Gain access to the brake room o Rotate the adjuster ring to change c the distance Pic. 8 16
