2 Introduction Table of Contents About SLAMSTOP About this Manual SLAMSTOP is an innovative door closing system intended for smooth and noiseless automatic door closing of a car. The device can be installed into the front, rear and sliding doors of a car. Versatility of the device allows you to install the door closer onto a car of any brand and model. SLAMSTOP door closer is designed for stationary installation into a car. All and any mechanisms of the device shall be installed under the door card or the passenger compartment lining (if the door is sliding) and shall not impair the car interiors. The installation can be carried out by the buyer himself. However, SLAMSTOP manufacturer insists on installation of the device at an authorised service centre. Prior to commencement of the installation of SLAMSTOP car door closer, you must make sure that you have sufficient skills and that you have all required tools to perform the work. If you have not obtained all component items or have found any defect, please, contact the vendor. Introduction
4 Important Information Preparation to Installation Before installation, you are advised to proceed as follows: The device shall be installed independently from the standard mechanism of the Introduction car lock and shall not influence operation of the latter. The device shall be connected to the on-board power system of the car with the voltage of V. Negative power supply terminal of the device may not be connected with the car door body (Negative power supply terminal must be connected with the car body by virtue of standard threaded connections of the body). Any operations related to connection of the device power supply shall be carried out with disconnected on-board power system of the car. Refer to the car operation manual to disconnect the power supply system of the car, especially if the car is provided with a coded car audio and airbags Power supply wiring may not contact with movable parts of the car such as pedal unit elements, steering link, hood and door hinges, window raisers and door locks. Wiring also may not touch any sharp body edges or may not have unacceptance bends. Only component items and fastening details as delivered with the device may be used for installation of the device. Normal operation of the car door closer requires that the distance between positions of ajar door (first click of the standard lock operation) and tightly closed door must not exceed mm Operating voltage range of the device is between. and. Volts.. Prior to commencement of the installation, check availability of any play in the car door hinges. If such play is available, it should be fixed prior to commencement of the installation.. Prior to commencement of the installation, make sure that standard door lock works properly. The lock must work easily (both when closed and opened). When you press the handle of the ajar door, the door must be closed tightly without applying any special efforts. If the door is closed with a considerable effort, adjustment or repair of the standard lock will be needed to provide its normal operation. Installation of the door closer into the door where operation of standard door lock is unsatisfactory (the lock is jamming or is locking the door with a considerable effort) may not be permitted. ATTENTION! All or any operations related to repair and adjustment of the lock must be performed PRIOR TO the door closer installation. Any adjustments of the lock elements are not permitted after installation of the door closer into the car door, since this can cause incorrect actuator operation and even its breakage.. Acquaint himself with the Installation Manual.. Connect electric components of the device as shown on the circuit diagram given on page 9. Check operability of the device by activation of the device by bringing the magnet to the electromagnetic sensor and making sure that the traction electric drive operates.. Find the best place in the car to arrange SLAMSTOP component items. Pay your attention to that the electric drive should be placed inside the door and the control unit shall be placed under the door card. Lining should be removed prior to the installation commencement.. Disconnect all and any electric wires and control pushbuttons of window raisers. If necessary, acoustic system should be removed as well. Prior to disconnection of electric connectors in the door, make sure that disconnection of pushbuttons and modules will not result in their damage or in disabling their functions.

6 Example of installed SLAMSTOP device Arrangement of Device Components Magnet. Magnet and position sensor. Close the door partially. Measure the distance between the door and the door post at different points. The distance between the magnet and the door post shall not exceed 0 mm for correct operation of the device. Planes of the door and post should be parallel.. Actuator and support cantilever. The actuator should be installed as close to the standard door lock of the car as possible. The plane for placement of the support cantilever shall be as flat as possible and shall be parallel to the car door at this point.. Traction electric drive. Prior to choosing the place for the drive placement, lower the window fully and only then determine the place for the drive installation. To reduce the load to be applied to the door, it is advisable to install the drive as close to the door hinges as possible. Turn your attention to that the drive and the actuator are linked with a steel wire. Consider the maximum wire length when choosing the place for installation of components. 8 Marking Template for the Actuator The actuator shall be installed inside the car door. To drill the fastening and technical holes properly, it is necessary to place the marking template onto the door correctly. lef t ATTENTION: Choosing the place for installation of the actuator, take the following factors into consideration:. Planes of the door and associated post surface shall be parallel at the actuator installation place.. Distance between the door and post shall be from to mm.. Try to install the device as close to the standard car door lock as possible and as close as possible to the bend of the door butt end surface (at the closest point to the door card plane). lef t Example of actuator installation right Hole Template
9 Installing the Support Cantilever. Stick the painting edge tape onto the post opposite the hole drilled before. Being inside the car, close the door fully. Mark position of hole No. on the car post with СИ.. Open the car door.. Centre-punch the hole marked on the door post and drill it with -mm drilling tool. Once this is done, cover the hole with some anticorrosion compound or paint. You are advised to use the threaded rivet riveter to fix the support cantilever.. Once the threaded rivet is installed, determine the axis of the support cantilever passing through a supposed point of the entry hole in the door butt end. To achieve this, install СИ into the threaded rivet to the height sufficient for the cone tip to touch the butt end surface of the door. To determine the axis more accurately, you are advised to fix СИ with the decorative nut. Once the scribe (mark) for the support cantilever axis motion is obtained, adjust the template location if necessary by moving it until the template slot axis coincides with the scribe obtained on the door. Unscrew СИ from the threaded rivet.. Tighten the sleeve axle of the support cantilever by virtue of -mm hexagon key and -mm spanner. 9. Unscrew the support cantilever to the supposed height of its installation. Tighten the decorative conic retaining nut. 10 Making Entry Orifice for the Support Cantilever. Stick the painting edge tape onto the bend of the door butt end and onto the place of the cantilever entry into the supposed entry hole.. Open the door partially until the bend of its butt end abuts against the support cantilever.. You shall obtain the point where the door touches the cantilever.. Centre-punch the obtained cantilever touching point on the bend of the door butt end.. Centre-punch hole No. of the template (it is located in the circle centre of the rear section of the entry hole.. Drill two holes with 0 mm diameter at the point previously marked as the door contact with the cantilever and at point No. of the template.. Connect the holes along the dashed lines marked on the template by means of a metal-cutting tool. Eventually, width of the entry hole must not exceed mm.. Make sure that edges of the entry hole does not touch the cantilever and decorative nut when the door is closed. 9. Centre-punch holes No.,,, with the diameter of mm. Remove the template from the door. 0. Finish the entry hole edges with files.. Cover the finished hole with anticorrosion primer or paint. Mark the entry point of the support cantilever Marking and drilling entry hole for the support cantilever 9
11 Fixing threaded tip of the wire in the drive Assembling SLAMSTOP Mechanism Adjusting nut Installing drawing wire onto the drawbar electric drive. Remove the wire from its casing.. Determine required length of the casing from the fastening point of the actuator to previously chosen installation place of the traction electric drive (determining the length, consider that the wire should be laid smoothly, without sharp bends).. Measure required length of the casing and cut the excess off.. Using O /.-mm drilling tool, remove the plastic membrane inside the casing on the cut-off side with the electric drill machine. Drilling depth shall be 0 mm. Repeat the procedure on the opposite end of the casing.. Run the wire through the casing. 0 mm Drilling the casing membrane out. Screw the adjusting nut to the middle of its internal thread.. Put the casing onto the adjusting nut tip butt end of the casing must abut against the end of the tip threaded part. 0, mm. Screw the threaded tip of the wire into the actuator damper base and tighten it. Nut fastening the drawing wire casing 9. Fix the casing with fastening nut.
12 Assembling the actuator. Run the drawing wire casing through the fixing nut.. Put the casing tightly onto the actuator body tip after running the wire through the entry hole. Butt end of the casing also must abut against the end of the tip threaded part. Fixing nut Mounting the casing onto the actuator. Fix the casing with fastening nut.. Place the actuator body and traction electric drive to the locations of their suggested arrangement in the door. The wire must not be strained and must not have any sharp bends and must not be twisted.. Cut off the prominent wend of the wire of the driving cable flush with the plane of the actuator body. Fixing wire in the wedge. Place the wedge into the body making sure that it is selected and installed properly depending on the door location (right- or left-side door). Lower the wedge to its lowest position. mm. Fold end of the wire so that loop length will be mm in total.. Install plastic limiter into the loop formed and squeeze the loop so that the limiter was tightly squeezed. 9. Lift the wedge into its uppermost position by pulling the traction cable wire. 0. Fix the wire in the wedge by screwing in the fixing screw until stops.
13 Mounting Assembled Mechanism into the Door mm. The distance for the wedge to protrude in its uppermost position above the body plane must be equal to mm.. Fix the wire until stops. With this end in view, connect the power supply circuit (as shown on page 9). Place an obstacle for the wedge into the actuator body (e.g., a wooden bar x mm. When the magnet is approached to the sensor, the wedge must bite the obstacle with an effort and release it. seconds later by returning to the wedge initial position.. Fix the assembled actuator onto a previously prepared area on the butt end part of the door.. Fix the traction electric drive onto the previously chosen place.. Adjust the support cantilever height. The height will be chosen so that the clearance between the cantilever butt end and surface of the movable cam platform was mm at most. Fix the cantilever finally with the decorative nut (use thread sealing paste).. Check tightening of the screw fixing the wire loop in the wedge and tighten the screw if necessary.. Put the positioning bracket on the protrusions of the actuator body (located on its fastening holes) taking direction of the support cantilever motion into consideration. 14 Installing the Door Position Sensor Hole for the position sensor. Mark the point where the position sensor shall be installed. Distance from the door to the post shall not exceed 0 mm at the point where the position sensor shall be installed. Make sure that installation of the sensor in a place chosen as above shall not disturb operation of other car door devices. Make also sure that no door reinforcement elements or any other technological structures are available at that place.. Centre-punch the marked point and drill obtained hole with anticorrosion paint. 0-mm hole. Cover the. Run the connector and wire to the control unit through the hole.. Fix the sensor in the butt end panel of the door by pressing onto the face surface of its rubber body.. Connect the sensor connector with the control unit. -0 mm Proper arrangement of the position sensor and magnet
15 Connecting the Drive and Control Unit À brown. Adjust position of the magnet by virtue of trial door closings. Final installation of the magnet (gluing) will be made only after selection of such position where the door closer will operate most efficiently. ACB + CONTROL UNIT. Place the magnet on the post surface opposite the door position sensor. Place of magnet installation must be chosen so that the device would operate when the door is ajar (first «click» of the lock operation). Note that the sensor will be operated only if polarity of the magnet is proper. -. Connection must be made at the permanent power supply point depending not on operation of other electric loads. Election of the connection point must be made with consideration of sufficient power to be produced by it capable of providing the long-time load current of Аmperes at least. blue. Connect power supply to the traction electric drive connector complying with the common rules of car electric wiring. Installation of a fuse (or a block of fuses) at the point where positive wire of the power supply circuit will be connected must be a mandatory precondition. Ì ELECTRIC DRIVE POSITION SENSOR 9
16 Completing the Installation Check operation of SLAMSTOP. This User Manual is made under support of the Red Robot Media Cover all drilling places and slots with anticorrosion paint. Fasten the control unit at the place protected against moisture and environment. The space between the door card and water shredder shall be the best place to install the unit. Re-connect mirror control pushbuttons and window raisers, as well as components of the acoustic system. Re-install the door card.
