4 ACCURPRESS OFFERS... Power Ram Tilt The power ram tilt adjustment optimizes ram trim to match various tooling characteristics, or for doing fade out work. It is easily adjusted via push buttons located on the operator control station. An eccentric shaft running through the left side connecting rod of the Accurpress will rotate when powered, and will tilt the ram to the desired location. Unique Design Thousands of satisfied Accurpress customers throughout North America is a testament to the fact that the unique and simple design of the Accurpress is one of integrity and one that works for the long-term. This basic design consisting of side frames, bed assembly, ram, double rocker arm assembly and torque tubes has been tried and proven in a vast number of shops ranging from high precision sheet metal to heavy fabrication applications. All sections are sized and engineered in accordance to the tonnage of the press brake to realize the ultimate in rigidity and durability. Every piece is meticulously machined and fitted to exact standards. The rear mount cylinders, attached to the double rocker arm assembly, allows for a compact frame with minimal side frame stress and the added advantage of an overall machine height considerably less than other press brake designs. Adaptable Design Accurpress design is adaptable to customer's requirements such as a special bed and ram machining to suit specific tooling requirements, ram clamping options, higher ram open heights, punching applications and concentrated high tonnage loads. Maintenance Free Bearings Longevity, no lubrication service and highest quality is produced via precision ram gibbings and bearings purchased from world leaders in this industry. The ram is guided by heavy-duty slideways on chromed guide bars using lifetime, non-metallic pre-lubricated bearing inserts. The slideways are easily field adjustable for precision slideways bearing preload. Virtual zero clearances are achieved via careful and specific bearing installation procedures. The main pivot points of the rocker assembly utilize high quality, maintenance free, selflubricating plain bearings, and self-aligning spherical bearings. Both bearing types are sized in relation to the Accurpress model tonnage and are well suited to the high loads and oscillating motion of the press brake. Decades of maintenance free bearing use can be expected via the self-lubricating feature. This unique application of polytetrafluoro-ethylene greatly reduces the chance of premature failure. RELIABILITY & LONGEVITY Flush Floor Mount The heavy I-beam design on larger Accurpress models greatly reduces bed deflections to achieve optimum forming quality and eliminates the need for below-the-floor bed members on models up to 600 ton capacities, except for few smaller tonnage models of twenty foot and above lengths. Under load, all press brake beds and rams will be subject to some deflection resulting in the need for crowning die holders systems or shimming of tooling. While some manufacturers produce flat bed and rams resulting in excessive shimming or die holder crowning requirements, the Accurpress bed and ram is engineered and machined with a small crown to minimize either shimming or die holder crowning in order to produce quality formed parts. 6 7

5 ACCURPRESS UTILIZES WORLD-CLASS HYDRAULICS AND ELECTRICS Forming Accuracies The Standard Accurpress hydraulic and electrical package combines to produce consistently high repeat accuracies of +/ ". Accurpress also offers the optional Advantage Package as featured on pages 14 and 15. Quality Systems Built with North American Components Our hydraulic systems are built to high standards with easily replaced North American parts, designed with common sense in mind. Side-mounted hydraulics allow easy access to the back of the machine for gauging and fixtures, incorporating a low-noise submersed piston or vane pump combined with directional valves. This design permits a fast approach speed, a slow pressing speed, and a fast return speed. Side mounted hydraulics allow easy access to the back of the machine for gauging and fixtures. Tonnage Limit Control Tonnage limit control is a standard feature on all Accurpress press brakes. This feature is required in many applications to protect your tooling from excessive loads, or for forming operations to a set tonnage rather than to position. Decreased output tonnage from the default maximum is sensed by a hydraulic pressure transducer which is easily set from the ETS control keypad. The ETS control will allow a different tonnage limit setting for each bend program. System Overload Protection All Accurpress press brakes incorporate factory set system relief valves to protect hydraulic components from excessive pressure. When the pressure setting of a system relief valve is reached, the valve redirects fluid from the overloaded portion of the circuit to the hydraulic reservoir. Air Conditioning Unit An Air Conditioning unit is supplied as a standard feature for Accurpress brakes purchased with an ETS3000 backgauging system that incorporates the CNC Z1/Z2 axes. The A/C unit will allow for optimal temperatures within the electrical cabinet with the additional drives required for the backgauge. UL Approved Electrical Panel We use only industrial standard electric and electronic systems for safety and maximum reliability. A proprietary PLC (programmable logic controller) provides ram control and additional functionality including interfacing with optional gauging systems. 8 9

6 ACCURPRESS OPTIONAL ADVANTAGE PACKAGE DUAL RAM FEEDBACK FOR PRECISION STAGE BENDING Ram Tilt Gauge Advantage Accuracies The Advantage Package is a recommended option especially in applications that require off-center forming or stage bending. This system comes complete with proportional valve technology offering up to +/ repeat accuracies. Dual Ram Feedback System Parallelism accuracies are achieved via a Dual Ram Feedback system with encoders at each end of the Accurpress. Encoders measure position during the bending cycle and compensate the ram accordingly as they sense unequal forces being applied across the bed/ram length. The ADVANTAGE package is available on all Accurpress models up to 30HP unit size only. Dual Ram Encoders are a standard feature on Accurpress models 40HP and larger. 10 TITAN BACKGAUGE FOR HIGH TONNAGE MODELS The TITAN Backgauge is Available in Three Versions TITAN CONFIGURATIONS Power Manual 1 X1/X2 R1/R2 Z1/Z2 TITAN: The world s heaviest duty backgauge is built specifically for large tonnage Accurpress models to handle the heaviest of structural plate applications. Every component is engineered and sized to withstand massive forces and shock loads that often exist in fabricating environments where large plates are being formed. A 4 kw, 4.4 horsepower, servo-drive motor is used on each X-axis to provide the necessary muscle to assist in the movement or squaring of plates prior to the bending process. Life-time lubricated precision linear bearings are incorporated into the TITAN design allowing for smooth operation of the axes. The TITAN Backgauge has been constructed to allow the fingers to be maximum height. This allows for plates to be passed completely over the gauge without obstruction. 48" 39" 2 3 X1/X2 R1/R2 Z1/Z2 X1/X2 R1/R2 Z1/Z2 Shock Absorbing Gauge Finger Assembly The absolute ultimate in X-axis shock load protection is incorporated into the backgauge design via ACME lead screws due to their unsurpassed ability to handle shock loads with each X-axis capable of a 65,000 lb. static load capacity and 20,000 lbs of dynamic load capacity. To ensure the appropriate safety standards are maintained, the 6-axis TITAN backgauge includes rear guarding to prevent personnel entering the backgauge traveling area during the operation of the press brake. 11 ACCURPRESS APPLICATION ENHANCING OPTIONS Adjustable Speed Control Front Sheet Support Arms High Speed Hydraulic Packages High production applications may require higher ram cycle times. Ram speeds are increased by approximately 30% to 50% by increasing the horsepower and the pump volume. Ram and Bed Horn Extensions Both the ram and the bed can be extended in length by Adjustable bending speed is an excellent feature to reduce whip-up of larger sheets during the forming application. Adjustment of the pressing speed is accomplished via a rotary hand dial located on the hydraulic unit. The fast approach and fast return speeds are not affected with this adjustment. Hardened Ram Clamp Bars Accurpress offers hardened Sheet Support A Available for front gauging techniques are 24" to 48" Front Support Arms machined from an aluminum bar. They come complete with T-slots and disappearing stops. The arms bolt to the drilled and tapped holes or the optional T-slots on the front face of the bed. Front support arms can be vertically adjusted for the corresponding tooling height. Sheet Support B Front Sheet Support Fixtures ride on a precision guide rail for easy left to right motion. Vertical movement is controlled by a hand wheel driven screw jack with no back drive for more precise positioning. The front sheet support also provides convenient builtiin protractor and squaring capability. Machining Options a) A 3/4" wide x 1" deep groove machined into the center of the bed cap is available as an option. Set screws, located on the front and back of the bed at 12" centers, may be used to lock the die holder into position in lieu of the standard die holder clamps. Larger Accurpress machines, with 11" or wider bed caps, have fixtures mounted into the bed T-slots with set screws for locking the die holder or tooling into place. b) A T-slot running left to right in the front face of the bed is available. This is a recommended option when mounting front support fixtures. Additional T-slots in the top surface or back of the bed are also available as an option. adding 2' horn extensions. The extensions may be purchased for one end only, or for both left and right ends. Palm Buttons Mounted on the Ram Palm buttons are included as a standard feature with every Accurpress, and are mounted on the ETS pedestal. Optionally, palm buttons complete with an emergency stop button may be mounted on the ram in lieu of the stand. For two person operation, additional palm buttons are available either mounted on the pedestal or on the ram. Second Foot Switch ram clamp bars for protection against damage to the under surface of the ram, particularly when high concentrated loads are applied using short sections of male punches. These clamp bars are made from Alloy 4140 steel and are mounted on the front and back of the ram. This is a standard feature on Accurpress models 500 tons and larger, but is a recommended option on lighter tonnage machines where short male punches are being utilized. Sheet Support C The Heavy Duty Front Sheet Support Fixture, with a weight capacity of 900 lbs., is recommended for Advantage models that are 320 tons and higher. Support arms are mounted on a precision guide rail for ease of left to right motion, and provides operators with a built-in protractor and squaring capabilities. Additionally, the foot disc allows for quick and accurate height adjustment, while the top slides horizontally for position to the smallest or largest V-die openings. A squaring bar and disappearing stops make for a completely versatile and accurate arm. Punching Applications a) Removable modular angle lengths with a cross section measuring 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" may be installed on an Accurpress bed, ram, or both the bed and ram. These modular angle lengths can be provided in combinations to achieve your total length requirements. This option must be specified early in the order process due to special ram and bed machining. b) To isolate electrical components from inherent punching shock loads, we recommend our remote power unit option. This option relocates the main electrical enclosure onto a remote hydraulic reservoir separated from the press brake frame. This safety feature allows the press to operate only when both foot switches are depressed. A selector switch on the main electrical cabinet allows for either single or dual foot switch control. When operating the press brake with both foot switches, the ram will immediately move to the up position if one foot switch is released. The additional footswitch also comes with applicable emergency stop and ram return buttons

12 ACCURPRESS AUTOMATIC SHEET FOLLOWER SYSTEM To meet the ever changing and challenging demands of the precision sheet metal and heavy fabrication industry, Accurpress has completely designed and manufactured an automatic sheet following system, the latest in technology offering finesse and high quality. Sheet Follower Retrofit Packages Mechanics Contact your Accurpress dealer for information on Sheet Follower retrofit packages for your current Accurpress press brake. The Sheet Follower table is guided by a quadrant track on grooved roller bearings. The table trajectory is a circular arc which follows the bending motion of the part being formed. Heavy duty load capacity of 500 lbs direct load per follower table. The Sheet Follower(s) is mounted to the Accurpress and is positioned left to right via a linear bearing and rail that is attached directly to the press brake bed. Optional Parking Station The rail can be extended beyond the bed length to permit parking the Sheet Followers past the end of the bed. Return Clearance The table front edge is set back from the lower die to permit parts with short return flange clearance. Parts with long return bends will necessitate moving the sheet follower away from the end of the part or to the parking position. Fast and Quiet This system is fast and quiet, driven by a high torque brushless DC servomotor and drive system for table rotation. Safety Brake Each Sheet Follower is equipped with a brake to maintain the sheet follower position in the event of a sudden power failure. Vertical and Horizontal Table Adjustment Manual adjustment in both the vertical and horizontal plane by as much as 6" provides the necessary mobility for various V-die openings and heights. Sheet followers are easily positioned and locked into place. ETS3000 Integration The Sheet Follower system is fully integrated to the Accurpress ETS3000 control and operational in Graphics or Angle text modes. The follower synchronizes with the ram motion during the bending process, up to the maximum 24 IPM bending speed, where female die openings of 1" or larger are being used. When utilizing smaller female die openings a reduction in the press brake bending speed is necessary. The bending speed is automatically recalculated on the Accell press brakes for small die openings eliminating the need for the operator to manually set it. The descent speed is also user adjustable as a percentage of maximum descent speed set in the machine parameters. ETS3000 software, revision or higher provides the operator with the option of programming both sheet followers to be on/off per step and additionally the option of only one of the two to be in operation per step. Table Dimensions Each Sheet Follower table is 40" in length and 16" in width. 14 ACCURPRESS CROWNING WILA CLAMPING SYSTEMS THE ACCURCROWN DIE HOLDER SYSTEM ACCURPRESS OFFERS A WIDE SELECTION OF WILA CLAMPING SYSTEMS Eliminate shimming of press brake tooling and reduce costly set up time with the Accurcrown Die Holder System. The Accurcrown system is manufactured with a series of precision wedges providing a uniform crown, which may be adjusted manually or power interfaced to the ETS3000 CNC system. Crowning Die Holder Systems are Offered in Two Sizes 3.5" wide x 3.75" high: - Suitable for small to mid-range tonnages - Suitable for 4-way block sizes up to 3.25" 6.0" wide x 3.75" high: - Suitable for large tonnages - Suitable for 4-way block sizes up to 5.75" Optional 4-way die fixture attaches here Localized Dial Adjustments The Accurcrown also has localized adjustments every 8" a great feature whereby an operator can adjust for worn tooling or compensate for any tolerances that exist in the press brake bed. Adjustment is made by simply rotating each dial to raise or lower the crown height at any given point. OB-814 Wila Holder/ Hydraulic Clamping This compact precision ground tool holder (76mm / 3" W x 55mm / 2.2" H) for single V-dies is ideal for shorter length press brakes where crowning is not required. 27

15 ACCURPRESS EMPHASIZES... OPERATOR GUARDING SYSTEMS Press Brake Lazer Guarding ISB Light Curtain Accurpress promotes high levels of safe machinery operation via the Sentinel Lazersafe Guarding System that has been designed specifically for press brake operation. The laser transmitter and receiver are mounted to the Accurpress upper ram and aligned with the tool punch and transmit laser beams across the potential danger zone. If at any time an obstruction is detected the machine ram is instantly stopped. Lazer Guarding systems are the optimum press brake safety feature for a variety of forming jobs such as box or trays and where operators are working in close proximity to the press brake tooling. Press brake cycle times may be diminished due to the deceleration and stop distance criteria demanded by the Lazer Safe System. For detailed information on the operation of the system visit and direct links to Lazer Safe Guarding The ISB Light Curtain is a solid-state electro-optical switch which produces and checks an invisible network of closely spaced, pulsed, infrared light beams between separate transmitter and receiver columns. As long as conditions are normal and all beams are received, the output relay contacts remain closed. If any beam is not found they open, thereby stopping the machine and protecting the operator. The system's control offers a programmable beam blankout feature with job storage memory. This unique concept pioneered by ISB can learn the flange pattern and automatically create a window exactly the size required and only during a specific cycle. The opening may change from stroke to stroke, automatically, determined by the processor, not your operator or setup personnel. No decisions... No errors... No complications... ISB Light Curtains are available in 18", 24"and 30" heights. It's simple, fast, reliable, and no extra set-up time is required. Press brakes will safely operate at their current fast speed range. STI Light Curtain In operation, the STI Light Curtain extends a definitive 20 inch high curtain of light in front of the hazardous area. If a worker s hand breaks the curtain, a signal is sent to the stop circuit on the machine. The curtain offers floating blanking and exact channel select to allow the operator versatility with various bending operations. Additionally, the curtain allows for muting in the slow pressing speed. External limit switches are adjusted for the appropriate muting location. In order to meet the above safety standards, the limit switches are mounted inside a lockable enclosure. Our design is engineered to comply with the CSA standard for safeguarding devices when used in conjunction with either Light Curtain or Lazer Safe guarding systems. Be in Compliance with OSHA and ANSI Regulations In the manufacturing of all Accurpress equipment, safety is a consideration. However, a press brake can only be safe when operated properly in accordance with the machine owner s manual, and the specific dictates of the applicable OSHA and ANSI regulations. Incorporated into the design stage are a number of built-in features that serve to protect both the operator and the equipment if used correctly and safely according to the instructions provided with each individual machine. The operational controls have been created to maximize efficiency if used in accordance with the applicable ANSI and OSHA regulations and in conjunction with adequate point of operation guarding chosen by the owner/user for the specific job action. Clear, concise, strategically placed decals serve as a constant reminder of specific hazards and steps to be taken to avoid needless injury. Within the owner s manuals are sections that highlight safety concerns. Accurpress is committed to occupational health and safety, and has produced a safety manual as a means to assist owners and operators in understanding and complying with their responsibilities with regard to the regulations for the use and operation of press brakes and shears.
