4 PREPARING FOR SOURCE SEPARATION Establishing Steering Committee for implementation of pilot source separation at city level and mobilizing, propagandizing source separation at ward level. Coordinating with ENDA to provide training for Steering Committee and Advocacy Board. Involving study-tours among cities Introducing source separation program on mass media in the city and providing leaflet to people

11 IMPLEMENTATION OF SOURCE SEPARATION PLAN AT COMMERCIAL CENTER Meeting with Management Board of commercial center to mobilize small traders in source separation implementation Setting up waste bins at convenient places at commercial center for source separation Transporting separated waste by truck with load of 6.2 tons to IRRC

12 IMPLEMENTATION SOURCE SEPARATION PROGRAM AT HOUSEHOLD Surveying, listing each household in street blocks selected for pilot Coordinating with wards to set up transfer station after separation Adjusting collection road map, transporting separated waste (including manual and truck transportation). Designing cart for separated waste collection, transportation to transfer station

14 TASKS OF EACH STAKEHOLDER IN SOURCE SEPARATION Assigning member of Steering Committee to undertake tasks and each household. Assigning tasks for each member of Advocacy Board from wards to household to propagandize, mobilize and guide source separation by direct support. Collection worker comes to each household to collect separated waste and records result. Informing good and not good separation of each household to Advocacy Board and Steering Committee to have next plan Meeting by Steering Committee, Advocacy Boardfor learned experience and preparation for next task.

15 SETTING UP ROAD MAP FOR TRANSPORTATION OF SEPARATED WASTE Company provide on truck with load of 6.2 ton/day to transport separated waste from assembling stations to IRRC Setting up road map for selected routes. Collection time according to the city s regulation.

17 LEARNED EXPERIENCE IN SOURCE SEPARATION It is necessary to systemize document from provincial level to city It should have support policy and sanction by local government for source separation program Human resource for propaganda and mobilization of the city is not enough and weak. Many households are still looking for investment and support from the State. Vehicle for collection, transportation of waste after separation in not enough.

18 Implementation plan in the next period

19 Disseminating source separation to 13 street block under Quang Trung ward to assure waste amount for full capacity of the factory. Disseminating source separation at 2 markets: central market and agriculture market.

20 And next coming years Basing on result of implementation in 2014, the city will continue calling for grant to strengthen capacity at IRRC up to tons/day Expanding source separation to all street blocks of Quang Trung, Duy Tan, and Thang Loi ward Mobilizing farmer households in these wards in self-separation and composting
